CULLOTON DESIGN
5.0
I received a bid from another concrete design company that was way over priced and trying to get an estimate from them was a hassle. I have two young children and I had to go to their shop (which was a hellish experience with a 1 and 4-year-old), meet with them and wait a week to get an estimate. My first contact with Tim was through e-mail. I wanted a concrete fireplace for my house, and he was able to give me a price right away through e-mail. He came out to my home to take measurements and gave suggestions on design. He also stated he could do any design I wanted, even a fireplace I saw out of a magazine. He also said he could match any color I wanted. He brought samples to my house, and he also did three different samples for us because we wanted a different color from what he brought us. The installation was quick, easy and very professional. He is a very detailed, knowledgeable man who takes pride in his work. We love our new concrete fireplace!

THE SALES GUY WAS PROFESSIONAL. THE COUNTERTOP HAD 1 FLAW, WHICH WAS REPLACED, BUT THAT WAS A INCONVENIENCE BECAUSE I HAD TO MISS WORK ANOTHER DAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT.

I initially got a quote from Randy to demo my existing countertops and install new granite. Before we chose the material we decided to go with quartz instead and Randy quickly provided an updated quote for the different material at a price that I thought was very fair. We arranged an install date and they came in and did the job in one day. The countertops look great. We are very pleased with the quality of the work.

Seemingly it went fine but one year later and I'm having to have it done again. The materials that we're used were inferior as parts of the countertop that don't even get used are peeling back.

During the removal of the old countertop, our instahot faucet was damaged. When a replacement needed to be installed, NW Granite and Marble called a plumber who was incompetent. The plumber billed us hundreds of dollars without successfully installing (Through Angie's List, we found another plumber, who was able to do the reinstall quickly and without problems.). NW Granite and Marble paid for the replacement of the faucet, but refused to pay for the incompetent plumber.

A local owned family business. Very congenial and professional. They do not have a showroom but brought many samples of different materials and only gave their opinions when asked. We had to purchase two slabs of quartz because of the kitchen layout and used the remaining for the laundry room and hallway. They brought out the two slabs on their flatbed truck and many samples of backsplash so we could compare. Their care in matching the glass back splash colors wrapping around windows and corners was very nice and quality work. I am replacing the window that they wrapped the glass around and Sammy said call me when you install the new window and I will trim it to match the new install. They brought the remaining pieces for window sills that they will come and cut on sight after the windows are replaced. Extremely fair priced compared to other bids. We are planning on using this company again for future work in our home.

Great experience with Best way from start to finish. Emailed countertop spec to Shelley and was prompt in receiving a quote. The price was reasonable, but I chose them mainly because of responsiveness and easy to communicate. Javier came out to take out the old countertop, replaced plywood underlayment, and take measurements. Since I requested the main L shaped piece to be seamless, I paid add'l labor to carry in the main piece. In 2 wks, Miguel came with a crew of 3 for the install. It was indeed heavy but they had no problem installing it. It took them the whole morning, and the finish came out perfect. They did a great job and I would highly recommend them.

We originally planned to have one of the ?big box? stores install a countertop for the bar in our family room. We started having misgivings about how things were going with this store, so I located Valley Counterfitters on Angie?s List. Since their shop is nearby, my husband and I dropped in to get information. Ken showed us the possibilities. We took a few samples home, and Ken came out the next day to measure and give us a quote. We agreed to have Ken cut and install the material we had selected. About an hour after Ken left, he called to say he had a piece of Corian in the same color (an upgrade) and could give us a discount of $80 on the project. Ken initially told us that it would be two weeks before Valley Counterfitters could come out to install the material. However, since they had a cancellation, they were able to install the material one week after we received our quote. John came out on time and did a superb job of installing the Corian countertop. Quick, professional, neat, thorough cleanup?very important because we were in the process of having hardwood flooring installed and were worried about damaging the unfinished wood. We were VERY pleased with the service and quality of the product we received and highly recommend this company.

MARBLE AND GRANITE IMPORTS INC

We found Marble & Granite Imports on Angie's list and they were one of three companies we received bids from for our countertops. Their bid was competitive and, moreover, Abraham took the time to really understand our needs and to help us make tough decisions on details of the installation. As we were talking about the job, he realized that there would be enough left over of the master bathroom slab to cover the other upstair bathroom countertop and offered to do that at no extra charge. This was something neither of the other two companies thought of. We were thrilled and ran out and bought two new sinks and faucets for the other dual vanity countertop. Abraham worked around the other contractors we had hired for the kitchen remodel and was very prompt and considerate of our needs. The installation went smoothly, except for the dust that blew all over our neighbor's car during the cutting process in our driveway - we paid to have it washed, no big deal. The workers were polite and considerate and cleaned up well after themselves. After the bathroom installation we noticed that there was a discoloration on the countertop in the master bath and that the location of the faucets to the sink was not quite the way we wanted them. Abraham promptly brought the Ceasar Stone rep out to evaluate the discoloration and the upshot was that they quickly replaced the countertop and located the faucets and sink the way we wanted them at no extra charge to us. Abraham even had his plumber come out the next day and hook all the plumbing up. We were very pleased with the job that Abraham's company did for us and would highly recommend them.

Our new natural stone quartz kitchen countertop looks amazing. With the unique Fusion pattern selected, David suggested that we go beyond the standard backsplash and carry it up to the wall to the bottom of the cabinets. It created a dramatic look and we are very pleased. After finishing the kitchen, we was decided that we use the remaining quartz to replace the countertops in two bathrooms. To complete off our kitchen and bathroom renovation, we purchased granite to redo our master bathroom. The work was done in a timely manner and we are very satisfied.

I opted to use Lowes Installation Services for my kitchen countertop. BIG mistake. The job was poorly done and after almost 6 months of trying to resolve the issue and it still hasn’t been resolved, I decided to use Ed and his crew to install my new kitchen countertop. Ed did the demo and then had Tony install my new countertop. What Lowes said could not be done, was done by Tony. The best seams (white countertop) and seam location. Lessons learned: 1. Verify that the Lowes installer is licensed and 2. I should have used Ed and never gone to Lowes. Funny….the cost difference (countertop material and labor/installation)…$155.25 cheaper to use Ed.

When first meeting with Abraham Pinella at his shop, you could tell right away that he had a wealth of expertise. He has a quiet demeanor but I think it is because he is listening intently to your thoughts and ideas and is quietly trying to visualize for the customer some possibilities. We knew which countertop material we wanted and Abe's was one of the few places who had no difficult obtaining this particular brand of Okite quartz. Rather than forcing us to decide right away what sort of backsplash material/design we wanted to install, he suggested we wait a while with various samples he provided. He used a very professional, hardworking and talented crew to fabricate and install the countertops which occurred in virtually all the same day (about a 1/2 hr the following day). Abe supervised and revised the work (quality control) all throughout the day. He actually made some amazing suggestions during the fabrication that proved his experience and artistic eye. While deciding on the backsplash options, Abraham was quite patient and diplomatically and gently suggested what he thought would look good based on our preferences. On the day of installation of the backsplash, one of the stones that arrived was the wrong color. Also the marble that we had chosen based on the samples did not appear to be the same as the sample. Abraham explained that marble, being a natural stone has many variations from tile to tile. But without hesitation, he made the trek to Anaheim to get the correct color of one of the backsplash components and more samples of other types of marble that he thought we might like though he thought the original choice would be the best one. The rest of that day and night my husband and I laid out all the different types of marble and decided that the original was the best and in fact were becoming excited about seeing it all put together. The design we decided on for the backsplash is something we would not have dreamed of but Abe suggested. A different crew put in the backsplash. Also professional, quiet and hardworking. Both crews were very respectful of us and our home and left the job site immaculate. The final cost was the same as the original estimate and given the artistry and materials that went into the project, it was worth its weight. WE LOVE OUR KITCHEN!! We gaze upon it everyday, all day and really look upon it as a work of art. We have no negatives to say and weI would highly recommend Abraham Pinella to one and all!!

Recent Review: The overall experience was excellent. We recently moved into our house and the kitchen needed some upgrades. We had been contacting and speaking with other contractors, and were getting frustrated with having to accomodate our schedules to fit the contractors' schedules. Jacques from C&M Kitchen Cabinets was the first contractor we met with who accomodated his schedule to fit ours. We met with him for the initial estimate and were impressed with his willingness and ability to do everything that we wanted to do. His estimate was very competitive and, in retrospect, was a great value for the quality of work done. Jacques and his collegues were very helpful in guiding us through the process of picking out cabinet designs and colors. Not only did they complete the work ahead of schedule, we couldn't be happier with the quality of the worksmanship and how the entire project turned out.

Recent Review: Project overview: Because of my past several years' experience with Angie's list, I decided to act as my own contractor for a galley kitchen remodel. The project involved demolishing an existing Spanish tile countertop and backsplash, installing a new countertop, sink and stovetop and tiling a new backsplash. I decided the trades we would need were plumbing, electrical, wall & plaster, countertop & tile. We could have combined countertop and tile, but ultimately split it to two vendors. I gave myself a week to turn the entire project, from unhooking the plumbing to being ready to cook in the new kitchen. I'll start this and the other vendor reviews for this project by saying that the overall experience was great. The project delivered on time, on budget, and with the help and support of the vendors and my wife/project creative - with awesome results. Of course it was filled with problems, as any multi-vendor, complex, sequenced project is... but armed with the Angie's List member community's excellent guidance and shared experience, I was confident in my vendor selection and that they would perform - because the community is watching. That is SO awesome!!! I've owned a home for 40 years and am thrilled that today - with Angie's list - it is possible to do projects like ours (mid size, medium complexity) without paying an extra 30%-50% to a middleman. A note to the contractors... you can bring a lot to the table on larger scale endeavors, but, like doing your taxes, using technology and the internet, the small to medium size project is now firmly in the hands of anyone who is willing to be smart, diligent and patient. JMS Express Plumbing - They were the first trade in to unhook everything and the last trade in at the end of the project (excepting painters) hooking everything back up. It did not occur to me initially that I would need to get a plumber in to unhook everything. Then the week prior to the project implementation, I realized that I needed the plumber to service the project twice. The strong position on Angie's list and positive reviews made me pursue this plumber as opposed to others. The girls on the phone were great and diligent about getting their crews in on schedule. On day one, they sent in a plumber who looked at the job, put in a reasonable quote, which I accepted and he proceeded to disassemble everything. He did a great job and I looked forward to his putting it all back at the end of the week. On the end-of-week install day, a more senior guy (seemed like one of the owners) showed up to assess the job and give me the quote. I was a little concerned because I know this can be a tactic. You want the job done and if you can't settle a price, then you have lost a day - or on a Friday, a weekend before you can book someone else. I have experienced this before. I was very happy when it turned out not to be very predatory at all. He was a professional estimator and sales guy, who tried to sell some ups and extras. That is his job after all. The good news was that when I was really clear about my objectives, schedule and budget, he was totally reasonable and worked with me to get the job on line. By the end of the day, everything was installed, running right and the job was cleaned up. A good experience overall and I was very happy with JMS express. I would happily use them again an don't hesitate recommending them.

Recent Review: Kyle's employee, Salvador, came to our home on time. Spent all day making repairs. Very pleasant and professional to work with. There were a couple of extra services that Salvador provided I wasn't expecting, but it was important to him to do the job correctly (fixed a leak in the sink that wasn't in the original estimate). I really appreciated that. I have never used a handyman service so I did not have experience to compare prices too. We agreed on the price, and everything was completed as stated in his estimate. Rated responsiveness as good, rather than excellent, only because responses to e-mail inquiries were not always returned within 24 hours. Only area with room for improvement. Kyle himself is very professtional, showed up on time for the original estimate, with a very pleasant and earnest demeanor. Quality of work appears to be excellent. I would highly recommend this company for handyman services.

Recent Review: I needed to remodel my 50's style main bathroom and Shai and his team did a very good job. Tom, who is Shai's partner, came out to the house to give me a quote. I had already interviewed two other contractors and Butel was the third. Tom brought up some technical considerations and possible solutions that the other contractors did not even mention. I knew at this time that they would do quality work. Shai and his team exemplify the best in customer service. If I have any issue, I send Shai a text and usually the next day they're here to take care of it. The skilled folks who come to the house are generally courteous and do great work. There was a few weeks delay due to the custom cabinet design not having started early enough and the drawers had to be refinished because of scuff marks during transport but the end product was very good. If you're like me and the quality of the work is of utmost importance, Shai is your man.

Recent Review: I have listed him in my favorites. He was the most thorough compared to the other two companies that I had called to get estimates but his estimate is the very expensive. He took each little piece and broke it down. I also find him an interesting guy to be to talk to. He did a great job of looking at what had to be done. He showed up on time and was professionally dressed. For a guy who is working all his day, he was clean and well presented. He was careful about coming into the house and made sure his shoes were clean.

Recent Review: I want to start writing this review by mentioning that Halo Roofing completed my home roofing project including the final inspection in 4 days!!! When I started to search for ‘A’ roofing contractor, I found out (sadly but true) how hard task this can be for me. The moment I called Ron at Halo for an estimate… I felt how professional person he is and that for sure his company too. Ron came over to my house for just an estimate (because I thought he will be very expensive) and I was in shock when he really took his time to present me all the possible options. His price was in the range of all the others (a little bit higher) BUT I still selected him because I felt safe and in honest hands. I wanted a value for my money and I can tell that I did got it with Ron! I literally didn't have to worry about anything except writing the checks! I was updated daily during the roof project and they did a superb work of the cleaning up after. I’d like to also mention that few days back I found out of the blue that Halo was listed in many places as the best year roofing company in Los Angeles! If you want peace of mind and quality for your roofing project make sure to call Halo!

They worked very fast, and really did a terrific job on all the cuts/details - of which there were many. The crew was always very polite, and willing to do whatever we asked. In addition to painting, they had to replace sections of siding on our detached garage. They did it fast, and matched the look of the very old siding very well. We especially liked how CLEAN the crew worked, and how they always left the job with things cleaned up, organized, and stacked out of the way. The work was done on budget, and on time. Overall, our expectations we exceeded by this team.

They worked extremely hard and were always very helpful and artistic as we went through the many decisions with the design. The back yard was completely transformed into a lovely inviting space. The matching driveways completed the look. Construction of this magnitude is a dirty and loud procedure. The entire company worked very hard to complete our project in a very short time span. Recent Review: Golan and his team at INA Kitchens just finished doing a large remodeling job of our kitchen, and he did an outstanding job. Every job has its challenges, and our beautiful old building, with its concrete walls, “unusual” placement of large immovable typical plumbing. Throughout it all, Golan was cool, solution-focused and easy to work with. He provided updates and clear explanations every step of the way, was constantly on the lookout for ways to improve the project, and was more than fair and reasonable when additional work was needed. Another plus is that the design was done by their in-house designer Jackie. She did beautiful work for us, and the two of them make a good company. They know and trust each other, communicate easily, and never pointed fingers at each other. That trust in Golan was well-placed. - we would use him again in a heartbeat.

What do customers in Long Beach say about Concrete Countertop Installation?

I want to start by saying I really like most of the work they did but I have a few complaints. First off I want to say that their communication to each other is bad. I met with the owner Buzz at my house to go over what I wanted done and cost. I wanted my kitchen countertops concreted over my tile and the concrete floor through out the entire house stained as well. I told him I wanted a matt finish which he agreed is better than the gloss. I scheduled them to start about a month and a half later. I texted buzz to see if he wanted to come over and go through the colors and stuff one more time before they start and he said no he will just be there to start on that Wed. He showed up about 8 and asked me to give him half the money down. It was a pretty good chunk of money so he followed me to the bank. After that I never seen him again. He had a worker come out for the first week and prep my floors to be stained. After that his son came in and helped out with the other stuff that he was more experienced with. I asked his son if he knew the color I told Buzz I wanted and he said no so I showed him pictures. Buzz told me this job will take a week now we are going on week 2. Like I said I don't want to bash them because I did like the work somewhat BUT when I came home from work I had cigarette Butts in my grass and chewing tabacco also on a daily basis in the front of my house in the grass. I didn't think that was cool of them to do since there was a trash can on the porch. Also they never cleaned it up I did. On the last day of the color stain that they were doing I came home from work and mentioned to his son that I wanted the Matt finish and he said UH Oh I bought gloss. I said didn't your dad tell you what I wanted and he said NO. I said that his dad also liked the matt instead of the gloss. He said that his dad always tells people that. At this time he already started sealing with the Gloss that I did not want. I thought I might be able to live with it after its done since he already started it. There again no communication. When it came to the end of the staining process they cleaned out the sprayer on my porch and it went everywhere on my white security door, concrete porch and walkway, down my driveway. I didn't see it till in the morning. I texted Buzz and he said he will have them come fix it. Never heard from them again. I texted him about a month later and he said he will send them out to fix it Plus I was having them make me a concrete countertop for a bathroom sink. Never heard from them. I texted a 3rd. time and they came over to bring me the countertop and look at the stain I guess. The stain didn't get cleaned up. I told his son I hate the gloss coat and the worker with him said I can put car wax or polish on it and it will dull the gloss. Also at that time the worker admitted they knew that the stain went everywhere when they were cleaning it out but didn't clean it up it was to dark. BUT they never came back to clean it. I told his son I'm having company from Australia and Wales that month so I will call them to do my bathroom when their gone. I texted Buzz to tell them a month later That the stain didn't get cleaned up and He said once again That he didn't know they didn't clean it up because they didn't communicate that to him and that the one guy is no longer working with him anymore. Buzz said he'd come do it even with a broken knee and I told him I didn't want him to do it if his knee is broken or hurt and he said for me to text him my address and I did. That was a week ago and still no communication from him either. I expect when you pay $16,500 to have this work done I EXPECT it to be done right. Lets go back to the gloss coat I did not want. You have to remember that we had to live in our garage or my son's house till it got done over the 2 1/2 weeks But when they did the gloss coat it was night time they must of had most of our doors open and lights on because it has dried bugs throughout the house and somehow rock chunks throughout the house dried in my floor. I don't understand still how the gloss coat got rocks in it to begin with but when we were finally able to walk on it our feet was getting scrapped by sharp rocks. if you kicked them some would come off and leave a white spot on the floor where it lifted the stain up also. I had to text him a few times to ask him to fix it. Finally I said just give me some extra stain and I will do it myself. I feel once they got our money they could care less what happens after that. Each one says the other don't communicate But neither of them do. They did the work in March of 2016 and we are now into August. I don't know what to really rate them as a business. Their communication to the customer and each other is horrible. If I would have known this before hand I would not of hired them. It takes to much work for the customer to get them back to fix the problems. If they would have just once texted me to say Hey we can't make it or whatever I would have been happy with that no matter how long it takes but to just keep getting ignored or the run around or excuses is not acceptable in my book we gave them to much of are hard earned money for that. I could go into a few more details but I wont I will just leave it at this.
