GUTTER-GUYS

I was very upset to find the Gutter Guy's starting a job on my home that was not authorized by me or anyone in my household. The workers that showed up to my home had to be confronted and sent away. They insisted that I had an appointment set for them to do work when I did not. Therefore, I will not request any work from The Gutter Guy's ever again.

Always goes well, no surprises, no extras, just smooth good service. When I called for a proposal, I received a call back telling me they'd be out and they came the next day, called with their price and scheduled service immediately. When heavy rain delayed them they called to let me know and re-scheduled at the next dry day.

When I got my quote I received a call the salesman was going to be running 15 minutes late. The fact that he was courteous enough to call even though it was just 15 minutes, made big points with me. The company coordinated with our roofers and when issues arose with one of the roofers, the gutter guys were very accommodating. They got the job done and were very professional about it.

My regular gutter cleaning guy was scheduled for Friday and my window cleaner was scheduled for Saturday. The gutter guy stood me up and I was in panic mode trying to find someone to come out the same day and keep me on schedule. Bob Carlson worked me into his crew's schedule and they did a great job. We have a lot of pine and cedar trees overhanging our tile roof and it's always a challenge to keep the roof and gutters clean. I use whatever comes off the roof for garden mulch. Rather than have Bob's crew haul away the "mulch", they piled it in a flower bed for me to spread around later. Good for the gutters, good for the garden!

All Star Gutter Guys

All Star Gutter Guys (Patrick Shin) was recommended by our Realtor who had them do some gutter work done on his private residence. Patrick is a life-time resident of Chico, and as he said, he knows a lot of people in town and his work and reputation speaks for itself. I am not an easy customer to deal with. I like lots of information. I want different options to review. I want to use someone who is highly competent, tells me straight what they can and can't do. I take my time making a decision. I don't want the cheapest work done. I want value for my purchase because I don't want to have to deal with it again. Lastly, most importantly, my decision to use a business is based on how they deal with things when the customer isn't satisfied or something goes wrong. In other words, how do they fix things. All Star Gutter Guys (Patrick Shin) to provide a couple of different estimates for replacing and or repairing gutters for a 2 story apartment building that was being purchased. He gladly came up with multiple estimates so that I could determine which was the best value for this property based on our budget. We talked at length about the material he used. He explained he uses a Grade E metal which is a higher grade than most businesses who use a Grade D metal. We discussed the life expectancy of the gutters. Pat was very candid with me and told me how to extend the life of the gutters with cleaning and maintenance. I wanted to know about his reputation and experience. This conversation sold me. He explained his past work, what he learned, how when he started his own business what he wanted to do to improve on what he saw. So I hired him. I paid him the $1000.00 of the $5500 job to get the job started. Not knowing him, I was nervous, but realized very quickly that he delivered on what he says he does. I was out of town and again had to "trust" his work until I got back in town. When I got back into town, I toured the 2 buildings on my own. I saw his work, it's quality and how thorough it was. I checked the gutter removal and clean-up process. (as when with roofers, I was looking for nails etc.) There was no gutter debris from what was removed. I checked the seams. The cool thing was these gutters were seamless gutters so there weren't many seams. I checked the rivets, actually he uses screws. I asked why. It's because you can more easily remove them and make repairs to them or the walls underneath as needed. Then I met with him and had him walk me through his work. No surprises. He explained where there were challenging areas and why. Lastly, because I live a few hours a way, he offered to come by and check on it performance during the next rain to make sure everything was as installed. My Realtor's recommendation was right on. I'd use Patrick again. The new gutters make the buildings look so much better too. :)

PLANCHON ROOFING INC

The job went amazingly well, from the estimate process to the job completion. Before I signed the contract, I had a few questions, specific to the job. Doug, the owner came out the next day and we walked the roof together. He recommended some solutions to a few problems, specific to our roof. Our home has a rear section that was added some years after the home was built and the connecting section had problems, specific to the area of transition.Other estimators were vague about how to deal with those problems but Doug was perceptive and specific about proposed solutions. He was "right on" and his crew followed those recommendations perfectly. The foreman on the job was terrific and the 6 man crew finished most of the re roof in one day...amazing workers. There was a substantial amount of dry rot that the crew discovered, once the old shingles were removed. Doug checked on progress throughout the job and his foreman did not cut corners when it came to replacing dry rotten or marginal sections of decking or fascia in bad condition. They did a great job of cleaning up all the debris from the old roof. Planchon installed the 2 new skylights that they ordered for me. A few weeks later their gutter guys installed a brand new gutter system. Again, the crew was efficient and effective. I couldn't have asked for a better job at a very reasonable price. I recommend Planchon Roofing without reservation.

Doug is one of the owners who send his nephew out to provide an estimate. During the entire process, I never met him and would have been better if I did. I just don't like doing business with people that I can't put a face to a name. But, Panchon Roofing had many good reviews so I felt better going with someone who has a good history than those who don't. Doug repeatedly mentioned that I didn't have to pay a dime until the job is complete, which was assuring. They showed up ontime as scheduled and did the work as they supposed to. One day they were late on the job but that was because they were waiting for the inspector to show up and couldn't do work until it was inspected. There were one piece of chipped and cracked by the garage that should have been removed but they didn't until I saw it. We ended up leaving the wood there becuase it was a bit late into the process of removing it. I wish they would have brought that to my attention. After they completed the work, the gutter guy came out and installed the gutters and down spouts. He forgot a couple of screws and left a bit of debris on the side of the driveway, which i asked for him to come back and installed the missing screws, no big deal. All in all, the job was done satisfactory and the price was good and I would recommend them to others. A couple of things that I would have liked better: 1. They can be come out to meet customers in person 2. Communicate via email

LeafFilter Gutter Protection

DAMAGE ALL OVER! My roof looks like the gutters were gouged out by amateurs! First off, I knew I had old gutters & that they needed replacing, so when the sales guy offered to have their gutter guy install the gutters first, then follow up with their gutter guard team, I decided to have Leaf Filter do the whole job. I should've paid someone else because they did so much damage to my roof! They cracked/split 2 eaves almost clear through, damaged the fascia board & left gaps exposed in the front of the house, and never even told me that they were coming! My original install date was 7/12 at 8:30AM, and at 11:30AM I got a call that they couldn't do it & had to reschedule--he asked I call him back at the end of the day, which I did. On call #2 he said to give him 20 mins & he'd call me back. 2 hours later and no call, so I called him again, and he rescheduled me for 7/17. When I arrived home on 7/17 & saw nothing done, I called the 800 number and was told he'd call me in the morning. On 7/18 I got a message that they were running behind jobs & that mine would be done sometime soon. I came home on 7/19 to find they had been at my home and did this to it! I called all the numbers I could find & left messages saying that I need to speak with someone ASAP. I am so angry!
