Kaspersky releases an official statement in response to the public notice issued by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission on March 25, 2022

In 2021 Kaspersky researchers blocked 1.2 million individual phishing pages based on 469 phishing kits — which are ready-made fake page templates, that allowing cybercriminals to launch phishing attacks effortlessly. Since a phishing site can be blocked quickly, fraudsters are keen to generate these pages quickly and in large numbers. Using phishing kits, even an inexperienced phisher can create hundreds of phishing pages in a short time.

The recent Kaspersky report “Pushing the limits: How to address specific cybersecurity demands and protect IoT” revealed that 53% of businesses have faced a situation where they were unable to launch new projects because they could not address cybersecurity risks. This can be linked to troubles finding an appropriate security solution that would not cause performance, maintenance, or other issues to their project.

According to a commissioned survey conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of Kaspersky, IT security leaders seeking to boost internal threat intelligence (TI) programs would prefer to delegate five out of eight major TI aspects to external vendors rather than develop them in-house. For most respondents, quicker threat detection, remediation and response are the main advantages of using external solutions.

During the second half of 2021, almost 40% of all industrial control systems’ (ICS) computers were attacked by malicious software at least once. Even though the overall number of attacks has seen a slight decrease when compared to H1 2021, the ICS threat landscape in the second half of the year has become highly diversified with the percentage of ICS computers on which miners were blocked grew by 0.5 percentage points, spyware up 0.7 percentage points and malicious scripts increasingly growing at 1.4 times the rate seen at the beginning of 2020.

A recent Kaspersky report, “Pushing the limits: How to address specific cybersecurity demands and protect IoT”, revealed that in two-in-five businesses (43%), some parts of their IoT infrastructure are yet to have any protection. Meanwhile, the main barrier for implementation of many businesses’ IoT projects is the risk of cybersecurity breaches and data compromises.

In 2021, the financial threats landscape witnessed positive changes with the overall number of users affected by malware reduced significantly, including a 35% drop in PC malware. Still, financial organizations, as cybercriminals’ most lucrative targets, continue to face massive threats. According to Kaspersky’s new Financial cyberthreats in 2021 report , attacks are becoming increasingly corporate rather than consumer focused. In 2021, every third (37.8%) PC banking malware attack targeted corporate users, representing a growth of almost 14% since 2018.

In 2021, Kaspersky saw a steady decline in attacks on mobile devices, while cybercriminals consolidated their efforts to focus on more dangerous (and profitable) threats instead. New mobile malware has become increasingly complex, featuring new ways to steal users’ banking and gaming credentials, as well as other strands of personal data.
