More Block

With the More block you can truncate your blog entries to only show the first part of a post is displayed on homepage, archive pages and in subscriber emails.

When you do this, a link will be placed directly after your excerpt, pointing the reader to the full post. You can put this link anywhere in a post, and customize it to say whatever you want. Here’s how!

Note: The More Block is only available for Posts, (not Pages) and some traditional themes might not provide display code for the More Block feature on homepage or Archive pages.

And this is how it will look on your site (you might see different styles depending on your theme).

In order to add an more block, click on the Block Inserter icon.

You can also type /more and hit enter in a new paragraph block to add one quickly.

Each block has its own block-specific controls that allow you to manipulate the block right in the editor. The more block offers the options control.

Editing the Block

Once you add the block, you can edit the Read More text that appears by default by clicking in the middle of the dashed lines, erasing the text and typing anything you want.

Block Settings Panel

Every block has specific options in the editor sidebar in addition to the options found in the block toolbar. If you do not see the sidebar, simply click the ‘cog’ icon next to the Publish button.

On this panel, you’ll find one additional option which is the hide teaser switcher. 

This option is disabled by default and it’s recommended to leave it off if you would like to display the content that appears before the more block on the full post once the user clicks on the Read More button.

This indicates if you would like to just truncate your blog entries so that only the first part of the post is displayed. 

By enabling the hide teaser option, the content that appears before more block will not display on the full post once the user clicks on the Read More button.

This option is recommended if you would like to display custom text on the homepage, archive pages and subscriber emails, which would work as an excerpt of the post.
