Comment: I just purchased a 1963 (800 sq ft brick) home in Irondale. The virgin soil was dug out considerably from the footings. It has apparently been this way since the 80s! Structural Engineer, Scott Gibbs came out and wrote a report, so I need someone to read the report and give me an idea of what to expect - cost-wise, if possible. I'll have to budget and plan to have the work done. The previous owner had a cinder block wall built (useless) around the perimeter of the basement, to help control water coming in. A "bandaid" situation. There is a sump pump, which controls water and so far I haven't seen any standing water in the basement. I was told that the cinder block wall could be demolished and used as part of the back fill behind the newly built retaining walls. I just need to know what it will cost me and how to move forward. Thank you!
