You are humbly invited to participate in the Wiki Loves Folklore 2022 an international photography contest organized on Wikimedia Commons to document folklore and intangible cultural heritage from different regions, including, folk creative activities and many more. It is held every year from the 1st till the 28th of February.
You can help in enriching the folklore documentation on Commons from your region by taking photos, audios, videos, and submitting them in this commons contest.
You can also organize a local contest in your country and support us in translating the project pages to help us spread the word in your native language.

Greetings! You are invited to participate in Feminism and Folklore 2022 writing competion. This year Feminism and Folklore will focus on feminism, women biographies and gender-focused topics for the project in league with Wiki Loves Folklore gender gap focus with folk culture theme on Wikipedia.
You can help us in enriching the folklore documentation on Wikipedia from your region by creating or improving articles focused on folklore around the world, including, but not limited to folk festivals, folk dances, folk music, women and queer personalities in folklore, folk culture (folk artists, folk dancers, folk singers, folk musicians, folk game athletes, women in mythology, women warriors in folklore, witches and witch hunting, fairy tales and more. You can contribute to new articles or translate from the list of suggested articles here.
You can also support us in organizing the contest on your local Wikipedia by signing up your community to participate in this project and also translating the project page and help us spread the word in your native language.

Call for Feedback about the Board of Trustees elections is now open[endre wikiteksten]
The Call for Feedback: Board of Trustees elections is now open and will close on 7 February 2022.
With this Call for Feedback, the Movement Strategy and Governance team is taking a different approach. This approach incorporates community feedback from 2021. Instead of leading with proposals, the Call is framed around key questions from the Board of Trustees. The key questions came from the feedback about the 2021 Board of Trustees election. The intention is to inspire collective conversation and collaborative proposal development about these key questions.
There are two confirmed questions that will be asked during this Call for Feedback:
- What is the best way to ensure more diverse representation among elected candidates? The Board of Trustees noted the importance of selecting candidates who represent the full diversity of the Wikimedia movement. The current processes have favored volunteers from North America and Europe.
- What are the expectations for the candidates during the election? Board candidates have traditionally completed applications and answered community questions. How can an election provide appropriate insight into candidates while also appreciating candidates’ status as volunteers?
There is one additional question that may be presented during the Call about selection processes. This question is still under discussion, but the Board wanted to give insight into the confirmed questions as soon as possible. Hopefully if an additional question is going to be asked, it will be ready during the first week of the Call for Feedback.

Greetings from the EWOC Newsletter team and the education team at Wikimedia Foundation. We are very excited to share that we on tenth years of Education Newsletter (This Month in Education) invite you to join us by subscribing to the newsletter on your talk page or by sharing your activities in the upcoming newsletters. The Wikimedia Education newsletter is a monthly newsletter that collects articles written by community members using Wikimedia projects in education around the world, and it is published by the EWOC Newsletter team in collaboration with the Education team. These stories can bring you new ideas to try, valuable insights about the success and challenges of our community members in running education programs in their context.
If your affiliate/language project is developing its own education initiatives, please remember to take advantage of this newsletter to publish your stories with the wider movement that shares your passion for education. You can submit newsletter articles in your own language or submit bilingual articles for the education newsletter. For the month of January the deadline to submit articles is on the 20th January. We look forward to reading your stories.

Se på Spesial:Bidrag/Kwamikagami. Denne brukaren har til hobby å lage Commons-filer med uoffisielle symbol for dvergplanetar, og å legge dei inn i Wikipedia-artiklene worldwide. Forklaringa til Haumea-filen seier alt vi treng å vite: «This is a proposed symbol of Haumea. It's the invention of a private person, so it has no offical status or big usage».
Eg meiner at vi må slå kontant og konsekvent ned på slike hobbyprosjekt som bruker Wikipedia til å spre sine eigne ideer. Same hvor harmlaust det kan synast, er dette original forskning i si reineste form. Og med den måten han gjer det, framstår symbolene som autoritative på ein svært uheldig måte. Mvh --M. Hei, her kjem siste nytt frå Wikimedia Noreg!
- Flest besøk på Wikipedia på engelsk
- Tala for besøk på nettleksikon i Noreg i 2021 vart nyleg delt på Torget. Ikkje overraskande er det Wikipedia som er mest besøkt. Den engelskspråklege versjonen ligg noko over Wikipedia på bokmål+nynorsk, med høvesvis 348 millionar og 325 millionar besøk. Til samanlikning har neste på lista, Store Norske Leksikon, 112 millionar sidevisningar. Talen til tala er klar: Wikipedia er staden folk flest går til når dei skal finna ut av noko.
- Det er òg nok ei påminning om at innsatsen de aktive wikipedianarane gjer er utruleg viktig. Vi håper desse tala er motiverande for både erfarne og nye bidragsytarar.

- Botkøyringsworkshop
- Søndag 27. februar kl. 12.00–16.00 inviterer vi til botkøyringsworkshop! Der skal vi gå gjennom korleis ein set opp og køyrer det vanlegaste botrammeverket, Pywikibot, på PAWS, med gjennomgang av nokon av dei vanlegaste standardskripta i Pywikibot.

- panelsamtale i Bergen
- Torsdag 24. mars inviterer Wikimedia Noreg og Skeivt arkiv til ein panelsamtale på Litteraturhuset i Bergen. Temaet for samtalen er korleis arkiv, museum og Wikipedia kan synleggjere og formidle skeiv historie, kunst og kultur. I panelsamtalen undersøker vi korleis vi nyttar notidas merkelappar på fortida. Ein felles forståing av kva skeiv historie er, vil bidrege til at vi saman, i arkiv- og kunstsamlinger og på Wikipedia, kan synleggjere skeiv historie.
- Arrangementet er ein del av markeringa av Skeivt kulturår 2022.
- Wikitreff og årsmøte i Bergen
- Wikimedia Noreg inviterer på pizza og eit glas på Villa Paradiso Ole Bull 25. mars kl. 18.30. Påmelding på wikitreffsida eller på e-post til [email protected].
- Dagen etter, 26. mars frå 12–14 inviterer vi til årsmøte i Wikimedia Noreg. Det skjer på Litteraturhuset i Bergen. Alle medlemmar er hjarteleg velkomne. Det vil bli tilrettelagt for strøyming av årsmøtet, og mogleik for å røyste digitalt.

- Fundamental improvements of the VisualEditor template dialog (1, 2),
- Improvements to make it easier to put a template on a page (3) (for the template dialogs in VisualEditor, 2010 Wikitext and New Wikitext Mode),
- and improvements in the syntax highlighting extension CodeMirror (4, 5) (which is available on wikis with writing direction left-to-right).

Førstkomande sundag 13. mars frå 12.00 til 16.00 arrangerer Wikimedia Noreg ein virtuell robotworkshop der ein kan lære å bruke robotrammeverket Pywikibot på PAWS for å endre Wikipedia-sider. Det høyrest kanskje litt skummelt ut, men det er ikkje så vanskeleg – det viktigaste er at ein har god kjennskap til wikitekst, altså kjelderedigering, og det er det vel mange her som har?
