Environmental, Social & Governance at Micro Focus

At Micro Focus, behaving responsibly as an organization, both internally for our employees and externally within the marketplace, communities, and environment is a fundamental principle for our operations around the globe. It is also a key factor for customers when choosing their business partners.

We bring these initiatives together through Micro Focus INSPIRE, our company-wide environmental, social and governance (ESG) program. It covers every aspect of the organization, from how we manage relationships with employees, suppliers, customers and local communities; to how we play our part in shifting to a lower carbon economy and reducing the effects of climate change.

Our Goals

Environmental Social Governance Product/Customers
Reduce our environmental footprint and support the transition to a low carbon business Embed a diverse, inclusive, and equitable culture for employees and communities Act with integrity and be fully compliant Create a positive environmental and social impact for customers through sustainable solutions

ESG is deeply embedded into our business. Our ESG Committee comprises non-executive members – Pauline Campbell (who serves as its chair), Amanda Brown and Lawton Fitt – plus two members of the management team – Susan Ferguson (Chief Human Resources Officer & SVP Business Operations) and Suzanne Chase (Group Company Secretary and Head of Assurance).

The ESG Working Group is chaired by the Director of ESG and reports directly into the Environmental Social and Governance Committee (ESGC), which is sponsored at the Executive level by the Chief Executive Officer. The role of the ESG Working Group is to execute and implement the Group’s ESG strategy, activities and disclosures, in the context of the Group’s overall strategy. Consisting of various functional representatives, it helps ensure that the ESG strategy is embedded into business operations across the Group with a specific focus on diversity and inclusion, and environmental.

An environmental sub group focuses specifically on the company’s environmental strategy, ensuring compliance and meeting our commitment to transition a low carbon business.

Our Five Pillars

Focusing on Skills

We have evolved our volunteering and social impact activities to focus on the theme of:

Helping the communities around us to learn the right skills to thrive in the continually evolving digital future.

Every employee gets two days per year to volunteer, one day per year to support a charity or community project of choice, and the second to support our common theme, to help us to make an even bigger and longer lasting impact. We know that Digital Transformation is a reality for organizations today and we have a huge role to play in helping our customers and the market to take advantage of the opportunities it presents. Micro Focus INSPIRE is a step towards evolving the role that we play in this space. From helping to provide basic education to helping to develop digital skills, social mobility and inclusion and diversity, we want to ensure nobody is left behind.
