Being born in the crumbling USSR and growing up in the 90s Russia made me very well psychologically prepared for the current pandemic — the uncertainty is my natural state of mind!

kremlin propagandists seem to be doing real heavy lifting right now, after many years of the easy and worry free existence they are finally mobilized and have to pay their debts to the main don by showing their utter devotion

Nabokov would’ve enjoyed this morbid spectacle. It seems that finally the white emigration is fully vindicated as well as later immigration waves. And by whom - a former soviet kgb officer. What irony!

Everyone I know pretty much left their jobs in Moscow and ran away if they could afford it. There are a lot of Russians in istanbul now — confused and lost - unsure of their next step

News from the Russian invasion gets more horrific every day. Whatever the optics are, Russia as I knew it is no more. I knew Russian ruling clique was rotten, but not to this degree

Really hard to see journalists as anything but ‘dogs whenever anything moves they begin to bark’. Those yelping reflex machines who have no skin in the game shouldn’t have the respect and prestige they get

Putin’s new speech to his security council is very scary. He uses the ‘fascist enemy’ rhetoric that is the only real sentiment most Russians share. His appeal to smth so real and painful to most families is beyond cynicism
