Communications Directorate

The U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE) Communications Directorate (DCOMM) consists of the Public Affairs Office, Protocol and Marketing Sections.

DCOMM Mission

To deliver strategic messages and engagements which communicate to internal and external publics why and how the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence envisions, designs, trains, educates and inspires the Army`s premier medical force.

DCOMM Purpose
We support the military and civilian men and women of the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence as they train and educate medical personnel, develop organizations and operation concepts, and generate a professional work force for the Army Medical Department.

DCOMM Key Tasks
The Directorate of Communications (DCOMM) synchronizes the command’s strategic engagements through the Public Affairs, Marketing and Protocol sections. We coordinate engagements with media, civic and business organizations, affiliated universities and command visitors to build positive, lasting medical relationships, enhance community relations and create awareness of Army and MEDCoE missions, capabilities, initiatives and programs. DCOMM also serves as the release authority for staff faculty and student public presentations, research manuscripts, and Borden Institute publications.

The DCOMM Public Affairs section responds to media inquiries, is responsible for local outreach engagements by the commander, coordinates responses/interviews with subject matter experts and reports media and community outreach engagements to the command. PAO is also responsible for command information products to include feature stories, photography, management of the command internet website and social media.

The DCOMM Protocol section is the lead proponent for all distinguished visitors to include high ranking military and civilian personnel and foreign dignitaries. Protocol also coordinates all official functions hosted by the command.

The DCOMM Marketing section develops command information products, manages communication campaigns, synchronizes command messaging planning and assists all DCOMM sections in the marketing and execution major command events. DCOMM coordinates all MEDCoE communication and engagement plans supporting Army, TRADOC, CAC and OTSG Guidance and associated campaign plans.
