March 1st we celebrated the 130th anniversary of their steadfast commitment to our Army and to our Nation. We are extremely proud of the contributions and sacrifices made by our Enlisted Medical Corps. They are, without a doubt, the backbone of Army Medicine. The AMEDD Enlisted Corps is comprised of twenty-four military occupational skills and twelve additional skill identifiers, making it one of the most diverse and complex Corps in the Army. Charged not only with defending our Country, but also providing top quality health care for all men and women in uniform from all Services. The job of the AMEDD Soldier is constant.

Training With Industry (TWI)

The Training with Industry (TWI) Program was established for military personnel to provide training and/or development of skills in U.S. private sector procedures and practices not available through existing military or advanced civilian schooling programs or other established training and education programs. Boards are held through HRC at the Proponent level. EN members selected to participate in the TWI program receive training, for a duration between 6 months and 1 year, in the civilian sector and serve in positions that require interaction with the private sector on a routine basis. The skills obtained must be applicable to the EN member`s immediate follow-on assignment.
Contacts with commercial and industrial institutions to secure training under the TWI Program will be made by the HQDA proponent or HRC (AHRC-OPL-L) as required. TWI can be referenced in AR 621-1 Chapter 6 and on the HRC website at https://www.hrc.army.mil/EPMD/NCOs%20Broadening%20Program. This program is offered on a limited basis.

AMEDD Enlisted Commissioning Program

The AMEDD EN Commissioning Program (AECP) provides eligible Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard or AGR Army Soldiers the opportunity to complete a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and receive a commission in the Active Duty component of the ARMY Nurse Corps. Participants continue to receive full enlisted pay and allowances while participating in the program up to 24 consecutive months of enrollment. AECP is a fully funded program which covers tuition costs and fees up to $9,000 per academic year. Additionally participants receive $1,000 book allowance per academic year. Program acceptance will result in a full cost move (PCS) to school of acceptance if necessary.

Enlisted Medical Degree Preparatory Program

The EMDP2 is a post-baccalaureate 2-year resident training program for select, qualified regular Army (RA) enlisted Soldiers to complete additional coursework necessary to prepare for the medical college admission test (MCAT), and to meet the course prerequisites to apply to medical school. The Army has partnered with the Uniformed Services University Of Health Sciences (USUHS), which is located in Bethesda, Maryland, to provide this opportunity for select, qualified RA enlisted Soldiers to remain on active duty while completing the coursework necessary to apply for admission to the USUHS school of medicine and other civilian medical schools via the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP). Soldiers will continue to serve in their current enlisted grade while attending EMDP2.
