Wikipedia:Requests for history merge
This page is used for listing requests for history merges or history splitting of pages. For relatively simple cases where history merge is required, the destination page should be tagged with the {{histmerge}} template. This page should be used for requesting very complex merges, merges involving more than two pages, history merges of deleted pages, or when the use of the template is otherwise inadequate or where its usage would cause problems.
This page was originally for listing cut-and-paste moves which could not be repaired due to a then-extant technical limitation. The limitation has since been removed, but this page is still available if you find a cut-and-paste move, and are not able to repair it yourself (there is a procedure for doing it, but only administrators can do it, and it is a bit tricky!).
Administrators need to read Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Fixing cut-and-paste moves and Wikipedia:Requested moves/Closing instructions.
The procedure[edit]
- If the issue is clear-cut (straight-forward cut-and-paste move(s) to a different title), place a
{{histmerge|NAME OF PAGE THE ARTICLE WAS CUT FROM}}
template at the new location of the article which has been moved through cut and pasting, i.e. on the article where the pasting was done. - In more complex cases (explained at Wikipedia:How to fix cut-and-paste moves), please leave a description of the problem under the "Repair requests" section. An administrator will look over the pages and perform whatever tasks are necessary and update the request.
- Tasks that have been completed or do not need further discussion will be removed.

- I pseudo-declined the histmerge request at Crai, which was created by Northamerica1000 even though Crai (supermarket) already existed (note that this is a statement of fact, not any sort of indictment of NA1000 for "stealing" or anything). The latter's content was merged with Special:Diff/1075854306, but I would note that this is a merge (and properly notated) and not a direct copy/paste.In other words, while there are not technically parallel histories, I somewhat view it as such, with NA1000 creating the page, realising there was a duplicate page, and merging in the relevant content. I'm bringing it here for further discussion. Primefac (talk) 09:16, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not saying that NA1000 is a thief but wouldn't it have been better if NA1000 had moved the page (with the "Move" button)? Why hasn't NA done it? Dr Salvus 11:56, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
- Well, that's another reason why I posted this here. Primefac (talk) 18:27, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
- Done. I have performed the histmerge for both the article and talk page. Yes, I created a new article, not seeing that the Crai (supermarket) was already in place. I somehow overlooked performing the history merge. Sorry about that. North America1000 22:07, 8 March 2022 (UTC)

- Keko (rapper) was about a female Ugandan rapper until 2019, when it was taken over to describe a male Guyanese rapper. Special:Permalink/902161198 is the last revision that's unambiguously about the Ugandan rapper. --Alex Cohn (let's chat!) 18:30, 3 March 2022 (UTC)
- West Suffolk District/West Suffolk District Council, the article currently at West Suffolk District Council was about the district its self not the council until 09:04, 2 March 2022, at 17:25, 2 March 2022 an article currently at West Suffolk District was then created for the district again. The edit history from 09:04, 2 March 2022 should be moved to "West Suffolk District Council" and the edit history from 17:25, 2 March 2022 should be moved to "West Suffolk District". The district council article should probably be merged back to the district per Wikipedia:WikiProject UK geography/How to write about districts#Local authorities as its unlikely there is anything significantly different about what can be said about both. The new article was created after I said the council should be moved to the district title as West Suffolk (district) was moved to West Suffolk District Council, see User talk:Leutha#West Suffolk District Council. As a side note it looks like the council article should be at West Suffolk Council[1] like Middlesbrough Council dropped its noun but that's a separate matter. Rejected requests[edit]
- The single edit at Draft:Paolo fromTOKYO needs to be merged into User:MC Ezio/sandbox and then that page should be moved back to Draft:Paolo fromTOKYO so it can be reviewed. Nathan2055talk - contribs 23:46, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
