Administrator instructions

To report an error in current or upcoming Main Page content, please add it to the appropriate section below.

  • Where is the error? An exact quotation of all or part of the text in question will help.
  • Please offer a correction if possible.
  • References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
  • Time zones: The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 15:07 on 12 March 2022), not adjusted to your local time zone.
  • Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not give you a faster response; it is unnecessary as this page is not protected and will in fact cause problems if used here, as this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
  • Done? Once an error has been fixed, rotated off the Main Page or acknowledged not to be an error, the report will be removed from this page; please check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken, as no archives are kept.
  • No chit-chat: Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the relevant article or project talk page.
  • Please respect other editors. A real person wrote the blurb or hook for which you are suggesting a fix, or a real person noticed what they honestly believe is an issue with the blurb or hook that you wrote. Everyone is interested in creating the best Main Page possible; with the compressed time frame, there is sometimes more stress and more opportunities to step on toes. Please be civil to fellow users.
  • Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, consider first attempting to fix the problem there before reporting it here if necessary. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. In addition, upcoming content is typically only protected from editing 24 hours before its scheduled appearance; in most cases, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.

Errors in the summary of the featured list[edit]

Friday's FL[edit]

(March 18)
  • The wording is unique, in the fact it says "the filmography includes more than fifty films during her career, which spanned four decades". Doesn't claim she made them in that count. The 1994 That's Entertainment! III is just clips of many MGM stars from various previously released MGM movies. Other than that, I don't know. — Maile (talk) 22:40, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Spectacular non-answer. Her list says she has films in 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. I would suggest that any which way you try to spin this, the current wording is utterly fallacious. The Rambling Man (Keep wearing the mask...) 22:47, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The Lana Turner article says: "In 1980, Turner made her final feature-film appearance alongside Teri Garr in the comedy horror film Witches Brew." Including Witches' Brew (1980), the article lists 55 films; so I'd say "over fifty films during her career" is correct. The article also says that she was "Active 1937–1985", which is 6 different decades. But I guess the word "spanned" means "included four complete decades"? If so, that's also correct? Is it the use of the word "spanned" that is contentious? Martinevans123 (talk) 23:07, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This all very odd. She has a filmography listed on the main page where she clearly has "featured" in films in at least six decades. You all can work this out but it's obviously not correct. The Rambling Man (Keep wearing the mask...) 23:32, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I believe what you are seeing is that she had films in the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s - which is six decades. But what the blurb has actually done is a mathematical 1982 minus 1936 (the year before her first film) is 46 years. — Maile (talk) 23:43, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Why don’t we rephrase it to say "more than fifty films during her 46-year career"? Schwede66 00:02, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's all a bit "too little too late" now, the error was there all day, and the clear, overt procrastination here rather than solving the issue has been a complete waste of time. (PS "1982 minus 1936 (the year before her first film) is 46 years." that's nonsense, the "decades" are the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, so please think harder next time, or at least advocate a less ambiguous and less inaccurate phrasing). The Rambling Man (Keep wearing the mask...) 00:18, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Who can explain what "spanned four decades" is intended to mean? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 12:32, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You're focusing on one definition of decade. A decade can be any period of 10 years, not just those 0-9. GreatCaesarsGhost 14:01, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
