CSET produces evidence-driven analysis in a variety of forms, from informative graphics to expert testimony to published reports. Our key areas of inquiry are the foundations of artificial intelligence — such as talent, data and computational power — as well as how AI can be used in national security settings. We also do research on the policy tools that can be used to shape AI's development and use, and on biotechnology.
What We Do
CSET produces data-driven research at the intersection of security and technology, providing nonpartisan analysis to the policy community. CSET is currently focusing on the effects of progress in artificial intelligence (AI), advanced computing and biotechnology. We seek to prepare a new generation of decision-makers to address the challenges and opportunities of emerging technologies.
AI and other emerging technologies will deliver profound benefits to society, but they will also introduce new risks. Technologists don’t always consider the details of policy, and policymakers don’t always consider the details of technology."
