Location: William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, Madison, WI

Description: A postdoctoral associate is available in the laboratory of Dudley Lamming in the William S. Middleton VA and the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, WI. This position is for a highly motivated individual who wishes to develop an independent research career. Dr. Lamming’s research focuses on the role of diet in the biology of age-related diseases and metabolism. 

Interested candidates are encouraged to apply. The candidate should have experience with mice and nutrition studies, experience programming in R and have excellent biostatistics skills .

Other specific duties include identifying research problems and designing research methodologies; write and obtain fellowships; assist in the writing of grants and manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals; supervising undergraduate research trainees; and additional duties as requested by the principal investigator. The successful applicant must have excellent scientific, organizational, record-keeping, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications/expectations: Ph.D. in organic or medicinal chemistry and five years of postdoctoral experience in the area of organic and medicinal chemistry.

Description: This scientist I will be working in Dr. Weiping Tang’s lab and is responsible for the design, synthesis, purification and characterization of compounds for Dr. Hao Chang’s project.

Location: William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, Madison, WI

Description: Molecular Neuroscientist

Qualifications/expectations: The incumbent is expected to have at least 3 years of experience in a postdoctoral role, including writing and publications in peer reviewed journals; designing and conducting quantitative research; demonstrated expertise in research design, statistical analysis, and quantitative research methods. Specific lab skills required include comparative genomic analysis, DNA methylation and acetylation mapping, protein purification, immunohistochemistry, protein/DNA/RNA analysis, mouse phenotyping, and generation of stable cell lines.  Familiarity with the use of the following laboratory equipment:  centrifugation/ultracentrifugation, real-time PCR, protein electrophoresis, flow cytometry, fluorescent and bright-field microscopy.  The successful candidate will have had experience with a wide range of basic molecular and cell biology techniques including DNA sequencing, Western blot, and cell proliferation assays.
