What is Apple Trade In and how does it work?

It’s a device trade-in programme offered by Apple. We work with trade-in partners who give you an estimated value based on the device information you provide. If you accept the quote, our partner will send you shipping materials (at no cost to you), and you can send in your device. Our partner will inspect your device, and if it is in the condition stated, you’ll receive an Apple Store Gift Card for the quoted amount. If the device is not in the stated condition, our partner will send you a new quote. You can either accept the new quote or have your device sent back (at no cost to you).

Does Apple offer recycling?

Yes. Apple lets you recycle any Apple device and devices from Apple owned brands at any Apple Store. We’ll make sure it’s recycled responsibly or given a chance to be used again. Some devices may also be eligible for credit. You can bring your batteries and old Apple-products to any Apple Store, and we’ll recycle them responsibly, free of charge. What happens to my device once I trade it in or recycle it?

When we receive your device, our partners will inspect it thoroughly. If the device is in good working condition, it can be refurbished so it can go on to a new owner. If it’s not in working order, it will be recycled in an environmentally responsible way through one of our partners.

How long does the online trade-in process take?

Generally it takes 2–3 weeks. But the sooner you send us your device, the sooner we can verify its condition and process your trade-in refund or gift card.

How do I follow the status of my trade-in?

Do I have to include accessories like chargers, cables, etc?

No, you do not need to include accessories. If you choose to include any, we will recycle them for you.

Will I receive the quoted value?

Our trade-in partner will inspect your device. If it’s in the condition described, you will receive the quoted value in the form of an Apple Store Gift Card. If it’s not in the condition described, a new quote will be sent to you. You will have the option to either accept this quote and receive an Apple Store Gift Card or reject it and have your device sent back to you for free.

Who can take part in the programme?

Anyone who is at least 18 years of age and resides within the UK can take part in the programme.

How long do I have to send my device to you?

The estimated trade-in value is valid for 14 days, and we encourage you to send the device to us within this timeframe to ensure getting this value. If you require additional time, you have the option to extend the quote for an additional 7 days through the Self-Service site: appleonlineuk.mpxltd.co.uk/login.aspx. What do I do if my device is damaged or lost during shipping?

Each device is covered up to a maximum value of £100 per claim if anything happens to your device whilst being shipped to Brightstar, providing that you have taken the necessary precautions to package the device correctly and used the tracked service. To raise a claim, you may contact our customer service team.

Can I dispose of old electrical appliances together with household waste?

No. Old appliances, batteries, as well as all the products which are marked with a cross on top of a rubbish bin with wheels must be collected and recycled separately. There are important materials in old equipment which are recycled separately in a certain way. These raw materials can be used as new material. Some electronic equipment may contain potentially harmful substances which must be disposed of carefully. Apple bears responsibility for the environment and is a member of the recycling programme, just like many other major electrical appliance manufacturers in the UK. Disposal Information The symbol means that according to local laws and regulations, your product and/or its battery should be disposed of separately from household waste. When this product reaches its end of life, take it to a collection point designated by local authorities. The separate collection and recycling of your product and/or its battery at the time of disposal will help conserve natural resources and ensure that it is recycled in a manner that protects human health and the environment. If I buy a new device online and add a trade-in, what kind of refund will I get?

It depends on what you buy and how you pay for it. If you buy an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch and pay in full, we’ll apply a refund to your original payment method up to the total purchase price. For any remaining amount, you’ll receive an Apple Gift Card via email.
