- The first two-time winner of the Ben Hogan Award in 2015 and 2016, an award that recognizes the outstanding male amateur and collegiate golfer of the year. Also won the Jack Nicklaus award in 2016 and is a four-time NCAA All-American.
- Grew up in Barrika, Spain and is a loyal supporter of the Athletic Bilbao football club.

2021 Season
Won his first major championship at the 2021 U.S. Open and finished the season No. 2 in the FedExCup standings, winning on TOUR and qualifying for the TOUR Championship for the fifth consecutive season. Ended the season No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking and led the PGA TOUR in several statistical categories, including Scoring Average (68.88), top-10s (15), Official Money ($7,705,933), Strokes Gained: Total (2.098), SG: Tee to Green (1.767) and All-Around Ranking (178). Became the first player since Dustin Johnson in 2015-16 (15) to earn 15 or more top-10s in a season. Made just seven starts on the season in which he did not finish in the top 10, including the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday; led by six strokes after 54 holes, the largest 54-hole lead of the season on the PGA TOUR, but was forced to withdraw after testing positive for COVID-19. U.S. Open: Earned his first major championship title and sixth PGA TOUR title at the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course, site of his first PGA TOUR victory (2017 Farmers Insurance Open). The win came in his 108th career PGA TOUR start and 20th in a major championship at the age of 26 years, 7 months, 10 days. Became the first player from Spain to win the U.S. Open and fourth to win a major, joining Seve Ballesteros, Jose Maria Olazabal and Sergio Garcia. Made birdie on Nos. 17 and 18 in the final round, becoming the fourth player to birdie the final two holes en route to a U.S. Open victory, joining Ben Hogan (1953), Jack Nicklaus (1980) and Tom Watson (1982). Moved to No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time since August of 2020.

2020 Season
Won twice and finished the season No. 4 in the FedExCup standings, qualifying for the FedExCup Playoffs and advancing to the TOUR Championship for the fourth time in his fourth season as a member. Victories came at the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide and BMW Championship, marking his first multi-win season on the PGA TOUR. Became one of four players to win in each season from 2016-17 through 2019-20 (others: Justin Thomas, Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson). Was recognized through the Comcast Business TOUR Top 10, holding the No. 10 position in the FedExCup standings entering the Playoffs. Recorded eight top-10s and made the cut in 14 of 15 starts. Led the PGA TOUR in Strokes Gained: Total (1.823 per round). Moved to No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time in his career following the victory at the Memorial Tournament and held the top spot for a total of four weeks during the season, ending the season at No. 2. Became the 24th player to reach the No. 1 position, the second from Spain (first: Seve Ballesteros) and the fifth to do so before turning 26 (others: Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas).

BMW Championship: Defeated Dustin Johnson in a playoff at the BMW Championship, holing a 66-foot, 5-inch birdie putt on the first extra hole to win the second FedExCup Playoffs event of the season. Represented his sixth PGA TOUR title, second of the season and first in the FedExCup Playoffs. First-round 75 marked the highest first-round score by a winner on TOUR since Brooks Koepka at the 2018 U.S. Open (75) and highest at a non-major since Mark Calcavecchia at the 2007 Valspar Championship (75). Only bogey on the final 40 holes came at the par-4 fifth in the third round after a one-stroke penalty for picking up his ball before marking it. Moved to No. 2 in the FedExCup standings entering the TOUR Championship.

PGA Championship: Returned to No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking following a T13 at the PGA Championship. Spent two weeks in the top spot before losing it to Justin Thomas following the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational the week prior.

the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide: Won the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide to earn his fourth PGA TOUR victory and moved to No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time in his career. Extended his streak of consecutive seasons with a victory to four. Held a four-stroke lead entering the final round and improved to 1-for-3 converting the 54-hole lead/co-lead to victory. Under Rule 9.4, was assessed a General Penalty (two strokes) after a ball at rest moved on the par-3 16th in the final round, changing his score on the hole from a birdie to a bogey.

World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship: Shot a third-round 61 en route to a T3 at the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship, his third career top-three result in WGCs. 61 included a hole-in-one on the par-3 17th, the second of his career, birdies on each of the other three par 3s and six additional birdies. Became the fourth player on TOUR since 1983 with a 1.75 stroke average on par 3s in a round. Became the second player since 1983 with nine or more birdies and an ace in a round. Birdied each of the first four holes of the round for the first time in his career.

Farmers Insurance Open: Held a one-stroke lead after 54 holes of the Farmers Insurance Open before finishing solo-second. Marked his fifth career runner-up on TOUR and first since the 2018 Sentry Tournament of Champions. Fell to 0-for-2 in his career with the 54-hole lead/co-lead.
2019 Season
Won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with partner Ryan Palmer, the third win of his PGA TOUR career, and advanced to the TOUR Championship for the third time in his third season on TOUR, finishing the season tied for 12th in the FedExCup standings. Earned 12 top-10s, second-most on TOUR to Rory McIlroy, and made 18 cuts in 20 starts.

DP World Tour Championship, Dubai: Notched his sixth European Tour victory at the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, and clinched the 2019 Race to Dubai Rankings Presented by Rolex. A closing 68 included a birdie on the 72nd hole to edge out Tommy Fleetwood by a stroke at 19-under 269. Became the first player to earn four Rolex Series titles and just the second Spaniard to win the Harry Vardon Trophy.

Mutuactivos Open de Espana: Successfully defended his title at the Mutuactivos Open de Espana, becoming the first player to win in back-to-back years since Max Faulkner in 1953. In his home country of Spain, became the first Spaniard to achieve five European Tour victories in 39 starts or fewer, with Seve Ballesteros’ achieving the feat in 49 starts. Moved to the top of the Race to Dubai Rankings with the victory.

Dubai Duty Free Irish Open: Earned his fourth European Tour title at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, winning the event for the second time in three years. Closed with an 8-under 62 at Lahinch Golf Club, which included an eagle, eight birdies and two bogeys. Started the final round five shots back of 54-hole leader Robert Rock en route to a two-shot victory.

U.S. Open: Earned his first top-three finish in a major championship, shooting a final-round 68 at the U.S. Open for a T3. Had missed the cut in each of the last two U.S. Opens.

Zurich Classic of New Orleans: Teamed with Ryan Palmer to claim his third TOUR victory at the Zurich Classic on New Orleans. At 26-under 262, posted a three-stroke win over Sergio Garcia/Tommy Fleetwood. Team sat T17 after first-round 64 in Four-ball format but captured solo lead through 36 holes at 15-under following a 7-under 65 in Foursomes, the first score of 65 or lower at the event in that format. Went on to share the 54-hole lead with Scott Stallings/Trey Mullinax. Only previous appearance at the event before victory was a missed cut with Wesley Bryan in 2018.

Masters Tournament: Posted four sub-par scores to finish T9 at the Masters Tournament, his second top-10 at the event.

Valspar Championship: In his Valspar Championship debut, shot a final-round 68 to tie Ryan Armour and Dustin Johnson for sixth. Led the field in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee (1.116 per round).

THE PLAYERS Championship: Held the 54-hole lead for the first time in his career, with a one-shot advantage over Tommy Fleetwood and eventual-winner Rory McIlroy at THE PLAYERS Championship. Week was highlighted by a third-round 64. Closed with a 4-over 76 to finish T12.

Farmers Insurance Open: Held the first-round lead at the Farmers Insurance Open with a 10-under 62 on the North Course. Posted rounds of 72-68-72 to finish T5. Recorded only one birdie in the final round.

Desert Classic: In defense of his 2018 title, finished sixth at the Desert Classic after opening with back-to-back 6-under 66s. Marked the first time in his PGA TOUR career with consecutive sub-67 scores. Played the par-3s in 5-under for the week, tied with Daniel Berger for best in the field.

Hero World Challenge: In his tournament debut at the Hero World Challenge, won by four shots over Tony Finau. Began the final round in a three-way tie with Finau and Henrik Stenson. Secured the victory with a bogey-free 65 in the final round, his second round without a bogey during the week (round two). Led the field in birdies and recorded the fewest bogeys.
2018 Season
Advanced to the FedExCup Playoffs and TOUR Championship for the second consecutive season, finishing No. 23 in the FedExCup. Victory at the CareerBuilder Challenge marked his second career PGA TOUR title and one of five top-10s in a season where he made 16 cuts in 20 starts. Also won on the European TOUR. Reached as high as No. 2 in the Official World Golf Ranking. Earned a spot on the Ryder Cup European team for the first time.

Ryder Cup: Made his Ryder Cup debut as Europe defeated the United States, 17.5-10.5. Went 1-2-0 at Le Golf National in Paris, France, highlighted by a 2-and-1 victory against Tiger Woods in Singles.

PGA Championship: Birdied two of his last three holes Sunday at Bellerive Country Club to post a 2-under 68 and finish T4 at 11-under 269 with Stewart Cink at the PGA Championship. Was the only player in the field to post two bogey-free rounds (two and three). His top-five showing was his second of the major season.

Fort Worth Invitational: Shot a final-round 68 for a T5 at the Fort Worth Invitational. Represented his second top-five in two starts at the event.

Open de Espana: Won his third European Tour title at the Open de Espana, closing with rounds of 66-67 to beat Paul Dunne by two strokes. Became the sixth Spanish player to win the Spanish Open. The win marked his first professional title in his home country.

Masters Tournament: Finished fourth in the Masters Tournament at 11-under after a final-round 3-under 69. Advanced to the weekend in a major championship for the sixth time in seven starts. After hitting just 20 of 36 greens in regulation in the first 36 holes, hit 29 of 36 on the weekend at Augusta National and avoided three-putting for 72 holes. With third-round 65, was one of just four players to post a bogey-free round during the week, with each coming in round three (Jon Rahm/65, Rory McIlroy/65, Rickie Fowler/65, Si Woo Kim/68).

World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship: Following major earthquakes that hit Mexico City less then six months earlier, pledged to donate $1,000 for every birdie and $3,000 for every eagle he made during the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship, where he finished T20. Funds were distributed to the Mexican Red Cross to assist with earthquake relief for people in need. Made 21 birdies for the week and contributed $21,000 to the fund. His sponsors stepped in to match the contribution, making the final amount $63,000.

CareerBuilder Challenge: In first career playoff on the PGA TOUR at the CareerBuilder Challenge, defeated Andrew Landry with a birdie on the fourth extra hole (18th hole) to capture second career victory on TOUR. Moved to No. 2 in the FedExCup standings and No. 2 in the Official World Golf Ranking with the win. Became the second-youngest winner of the event at 23 years, 2 months, 11 days, behind only Jack Nicklaus (23 years, 13 days). Shot an opening-round 62 at La Quinta Country Club. Was bogey-free in the final round en route to a 5-under 67.

Sentry Tournament of Champions: Recorded a runner-up finish at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in first-career start at the winners-only event. Second-place result was the fourth of his career. Was the only first-time player out of 14 in the field to finish in the top 10.
2017 Season
In his first full season on the PGA TOUR, recorded 11 top-10 finishes, second only to Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas (12), and finished fifth in the FedExCup standings. Missed just two cuts in 23 starts. Earned his first career PGA TOUR title at the Farmers Insurance Open. Advanced through all four FedExCup Playoffs events, where he finished no worse than seventh in any of the events.

DP World Tour Championship Dubai: Carded a final-round 67 to win the European Tour's DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, where a late slip from Justin Rose handed Tommy Fleetwood the Race to Dubai title. Came home in 33 to get to 19-under and win his second Rolex Series title by one shot over Shane Lowry and Kiradech Aphibarnrat. Awarded the European Tour's Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year award earlier in the week, added this win to his Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Hosted by the Rory Foundation title to become the first player to win multiple Rolex Series events.

TOUR Championship: In his first start at the TOUR Championship, posted four scores of par or better at East Lake to finish T7 with Tony Finau and Jordan Spieth at 7-under 273.

BMW Championship: In his first start in the BMW Championship, finished T5 at Conway Farms. Marked his third consecutive top-five in the FedExCup Playoffs. Week was highlighted by a 65 in the third round. Finished eight shots behind winner Marc Leishman.

Dell Technologies Championship: After a T3 at THE NORTHERN TRUST, finished T4 in his first appearance at the Dell Technologies Championship. At 12-under 272, finished five strokes behind champion Justin Thomas. Marked his ninth top-10 finish of the season. Opened the tournament with rounds of 67-66 for a two-stroke lead over Adam Hadwin, Paul Casey, Kyle Stanley and Kevin Streelman.

THE NORTHERN TRUST: Made his first appearance in a FedExCup Playoffs event, finishing T3 at THE NORTHERN TRUST with four rounds in the 60s to move from No. 6 to No. 5 in the FedExCup. Recorded birdies on the par-3 6th hole at Glen Oaks Club in each of the four rounds.

Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Hosted by the Rory Foundation: Earned his first European Tour win with a record-breaking victory at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Hosted by the Rory Foundation. Entered the final day at Portstewart Golf Club with a share of the lead but produced a closing 65 to get to 24-under and win by six shots. Endured a moment during the final round when the correct replacement of his ball-marker was questioned while attempting to remove it from a fellow competitor's putting line, however no breach of the rule was determined. His total in relation to par marked the lowest in the event's history by three shots.

DEAN & DELUCA Invitational: The two-time Hogan Award winner (given annually onsite Monday of the DEAN & DELUCA Invitational) trailed 54-hole leader Webb Simpson by four strokes at the start of the final round of the DEAN & DELUCA Invitational. After a bogey on the par-4 third, made five birdies en route to a 4-under 66. Barely missed a 12'2" putt on the last for birdie to force a playoff with Kevin Kisner. Marked his seventh top-10 finish in 14 starts this season, with four inside the top three. Was looking to join fellow Spaniard Sergio Garcia on the list of players to win the DEAN & DELUCA Invitational in their first appearance.

Wells Fargo Championship: Needed an eagle at the par-5 18th to force sudden death with eventual-winner Brian Harman at the Wells Fargo Championship. Closed with a par to finish in fourth at 8-under 280 in his first start in the event. Marked his sixth top-10 in last eight PGA TOUR starts.

Shell Houston Open: Finished T10 in the Shell Houston Open, marking his fifth top-10 in his last six starts on TOUR.

World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play: Advanced to the final in his first appearance at World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play where he lost to Dustin Johnson on the final hole. Was 1-down standing on 18 tee with the honor before hitting tee shot 382 yards over the green. A poor chip and two putts led to a halved hole and handshake with Johnson, who made a regulation par. Was seeking his second TOUR win in 21st career start which would have matched Tiger Woods' achievement. Was the first player from Spain to reach the final. 7-and-5 win over Soren Kjeldsen in quarterfinal matched Daniel Berger's 7-and-5 win over J.B. Holmes in round one as largest winning margin of the week.

World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship: Making his first start in a World Golf Championships event, reached 14-under and held the solo-lead in the final round of the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship for a short time after beginning the back nine par-eagle-par-par-birdie-birdie. Missed putts of seven and eight feet on Nos. 16 and 17 for bogeys, which resulted in a 12-under 272 tournament total (T3), two shots behind Dustin Johnson.

AT&T; Pebble Beach Pro-Am: Making his first-ever start at the AT&T; Pebble Beach Pro-Am, followed an opening-round 73 at Spyglass Hill with rounds of 67-67-68 to jump to a T5 finish, seven strokes behind champion Jordan Spieth. Week included a second-round 5-under 67 at Pebble Beach GL, including six consecutive birdies on Nos. 2-7. Played his final 63 holes with just two over-par scores (No. 14 in round two and No. 3 in round four (both at Pebble Beach GL).

Farmers Insurance Open: Beginning the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open three strokes off the lead at 6-under 210, overcame a bogey at the first hole with four birdies and two eagles to post a 7-under 65 and claim his first career PGA TOUR victory by three strokes over C.T. Pan and Charles Howell III at 13-under 275. Following an eagle-3 at the 13th hole, finished his last two holes birdie-eagle to put an exclamation point on the win. Drained a 60' 8" putt for his second eagle of the day at the par-5 18th hole. With two eagles and a birdie, played the par-5 13th hole on the South Course in 5-under for the week (three rounds). With the win at Torrey Pines, became the second Spaniard to win the Farmers Insurance Open, joining Jose Maria Olazabal (2002). He also became just the fourth international winner of the event, joining Gary Player (1963), Olazabal (2002), and Jason Day (2015).

ISPS HANDA World Cup of Golf: Finished T8 at the ISPS HANDA World Cup with teammate Rafa Cabrera Bello on the Spain team at Kingston Heath Golf Club in Australia in late-November.
2016 Season
Made a splash during the 2015-16 PGA TOUR season, with six top-25 finishes in nine starts, led by a T2 at the RBC Canadian Open and T3 at the Quicken Loans National. Joined the PGA TOUR as a Special Temporary Member less than two months after turning professional. Rounded out the season with his final 14 rounds being at par or better.

RBC Canadian Open: Posted T2 finish with rounds of 67-71-72-67 while playing as a sponsor exemption at the RBC Canadian Open. With runner-up finish, collected 208 non-member FedExCup points, taking his total to 382, surpassing the points earned by the player at No. 150 in last season's FedExCup standings (361 by Cameron Percy), becoming eligible for Special Temporary Membership on the PGA TOUR. Ranked No. 1 in Approach Proximity to the Hole with 30 feet, 3 inches for the week.

Quicken Loans National: Came back to make his professional debut at Congressional CC, holding the first-round lead with a 7-under 64. Closed the week with a final-round 70 to finish T3 at the Quicken Loans National, four behind champion Billy Hurley III. As part of The Open Championship Qualifying Series, his finish earned him a spot at the 145th playing of The Open Championship at Royal Troon. His finish also caught the eye of Quicken Loans National tournament host Tiger Woods, who invited the Spaniard to stop by the 18th green (prior to the winner's trophy ceremony) so he could personally congratulate him on his excellent play at Congressional.

U.S. Open: Out of 11 amateur participants, was the only amateur to make the cut at the 116th U.S. Open at Oakmont near Pittsburgh, Pa., finishing T23.
