Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape Inc
5.0
Working with Black Diamond was amazing from start to finish. I worked with Kelvin for the design and project management aspect and he's top notch all around. Responsive, courteous, knowledgeable, great eye for design and what we were going for, and flexible. We got Saul and his crew to build out our backyard and side yards. This was a new construction home so the lot was practically empty so they were able to start digging up the foundation for the pavers quickly. Every time I looked at their progress, I was amazed at how quickly they were moving and the level of quality it was being done at. They left my house as clean as they could each day they worked, they were transparent about any issues or design changes they thought could improve the flow, absolute, true craftsmen all around. I hope my neighbors see the work they did and consider calling Black Diamond and their crews in.

Everything went great! From demolition to pouring. Especially liked that his young son was helping and learning.

It went well, Mark the owner, and his two crews [demolition, and concrete work] were all very professional. Mark advised us on our plans and suggested a few good changes. They accommodated our schedule, cleaned up each day. The concrete cutting, rebar, pour and finishing were superior.

JOHN MOLINA CONCRETE

Our pool size is about 12' by 25'. We left the sides of the pool, so this is a simple fill. John Molina's crew arrived when they said they would. Our pool does not have bobcat access, so they had to haul wheelbarrows through a narrow alleyway. It took them all of one day to fill up to the last foot of soil. The last one foot was to be topsoil. John took time to explain the process thoroughly - we appreciated that. John warned that our driveway would likely be further cracked by the weight of the dump truck with dirt and other heavy equipment. However, at the end of the job I could detect no additional damage to our already cracked driveway. I attempted to contact multiple electricians without success for the removal of pump and heater power as demanded by the city. John supplied a contact who came and satisfied city requirements in the electrical area. The initial fill had to be watered thoroughly for compaction for two days so it could "settle". John dropped by to monitor progress. The final one foot was topsoil because my wife wants a garden. The quality of topsoil was excellent! Even the deeper dirt was of excellent quality. After the topsoil was fully in place, there was still extra topsoil. His crew took that soil and, under my wife's direction, placed it around various plants and flowers my wife is growing. They performed an extremely neat job in leveling and embanking this additional soil. This is, of course, well beyond the terms of the contract and they are to be highly commended! While the dirt fill progress was very dusty, this was expected. The dump trucks produced lots and lots of dust. At the end of the job his crew used a power washer to clean not only the obvious work areas, but even the sides of the house! Our driveway where the dirt was dumped as a staging area for the backyard has never looked cleaner. At all times both John and his crew were polite and worked diligently to fulfill the contract. We had absolutely no problems at all with either John or his people. My wife is thrilled! (Gotta keep the boss happy!)

D & J CONSTRUCTION

I needed to sell my home in New Jersey after being offered a relocation to the West Coast. We had an 80 year old house and needed to have the entire porch torn down and re-built. Dominick came in and personally did the demolition (including jackhammering the concrete steps) and put in a beautiful wood porch. It was attractive, strong AND fit the style of the house perfectly. The best part though, was that I was able to focus on packing up our home and preparing my family for our big move. It was such a relief to have a true professional manage this project so that I could focus on my family. I recommend Dominick for any contruction/masonry work you might have.

All Seasons Construction

I originally thought I wanted to replace the highly deteriorated concrete driveway with a new one, but when I spoke with Mark from All Seasons I was impressed with his understanding of a variety of issues like drainage, repairability, and sense of design. He recommended using paving stones instead of concrete. I agreed that this would be an excellent choice and we received fair bid and arranged for demo and installation. Both happened in a timely fashion with an exceptionally disciplined and talented crew. The finished product truly exceeds my expectations and is admired by my tenants and neighbors as well.

The work was excellent. Leticia and family arrived in the morning, did the demolition, including cutting back some huge shrubs. They had the new walkway and step formed by lunch time. When I returned home from work, they had finished pouring and were cleaning up. Everything was completed in one day!

Ultimate Concrete

Dan came out and gave an estimate for the job a few months ago. The estimate was very reasonable and since the Angie's List reviews were so positive, we decided to go w/Ultimate Concrete. Just finished the job last week and we are very happy with the result. He arrived with one helper (it was a pretty small job) and they were here most of the day working pretty hard the whole time. They were able to replace the section of aggregate concrete path to very closely match the existing aggregate concrete. They also did a good job removing the pool fountain, foundation and all. Overall we were very impressed with the quality of work and professionalism. Would definitely use them again for future concrete work.

Select Pavers

Came out for an estimate of the job. The deal included demolition, but only of concrete, not small bushes. The 100 sq ft must be square, so it has to be even shaped. He quoted me about $3500 which was much more than what I was expecting.

Company on time and end result is great. Getting to that end was a bit frustrating. Workers not always respectful of property not pertaining to their area of work.

GREACON CONSTRUCTION INC.

I left for 2 days in order to be out of the way. When I returned, I saw that a worker had helped himself to a beer and the refrigerator door was left open for at least one day. Eamon denied that his workers would do such a thing and berated me for accusing them, but there was no one else here but them. While they carefully masked out areas inside where they would be walking, they neglected to cover areas under the decks. My fish pond was covered with debris as well as the gravel/flagstone area. Although Eamon apologized profusely, the same thing happened a second time. I will be picking debris out of the gravel till doomsday. Also although they were still applying coatings, they removed some of the floor covering. What's the point of protecting the floor part of the time? I am finding paint bits all through the house on various surfaces touched. They tried to cut corners by not applying flashing in areas where it was labor intensive to do so. Had I not been there to observe carefully that would have happened. When I pointed it out, Eamon became angry and accused me of questioning his integrity, that he was doing his best, trying to please me, on and on. Yet the fact remained, the flashing was not applied. When they did after the fact (2 coats of topping had already been put down), they used a lighter gauge metal, not what was required, so that they could cram it in. When all was done I also discovered that instead of giving the deck surface a slight cant away from the structure, they did the opposite. Therefore water flows toward the building (which is improperly flashed), not away. The only way to fix that is to start over. I think that he thought he could get by with the things he did because I am a single woman. However I have worked in the construction trades and was able to call him on the deficiencies, which caused him to be angry and intimidating. Because the water flows toward the house I will have to be vigilant in checking for water damage, at which time I will need to replace decks which if done correctly should last beyond my life expectancy. I imagine this will be read by the service provider. i hope I don't hear back from him.

I made a number of changes prior to executing the contract adnf Paul was very accommodating. I also had to push back the date of project commencement due to some unexpected travel. Once again, Paul was very accommodating. Once we executed a contract, the crews arrives as scheduled and did a good job from start to finish. I am please with the product and even though the install is recent, I know I will be happy with the way it turned out. It looks fabulous.

Ofer and the team firstly started VERY QUICKLY - he said he would start in a couple of days and he did. Demolition was quick and easy for the team. Throughout the 5 month project (which is fast for the amount of work we did) we had a number of things change because our plan had to change given structural limitations but Ofer and the team were always willing to think through options and work with us on the best solution.

Valley Concrete

Everyone involved in this project was professional, courteous, on time and highly skilled. Good teamwork was displayed by all. We worked with an estimator, three different crews (one for demolition and building forms; one for pouring and finishing the driveway, porch, and walkways; and one for the driveway approach) and a supervisor. Everyone worked hard and gave great attention to detail. Pride of workmanship was evident in every phase of the job. We're thrilled with the work, and don't have a single complaint. Thank you, Valley Concrete!

Vince's Landscaping Inc

The demolition work lasted 4.5 days for a crew of 3. The crew was polite and professional and showed up when they said they would. The prep work for the pavers was another 1 or 2 days. Again, very professional. Paver instillation lasted 2 days and turned out great. They did a great job. Steve provided the estimate and checked in on the work every couple of days. We’re very happy with the entire process and we would use them again.

Ace Plumbing & Rooter

They were very good. The job included demolition and actual putting of the lines, having the inspection and then having the concrete back in. It was a 3-day job and the only thing that held them a little longer was because of the rain and they couldn't put the concrete down for about 4 days and the total amount of time that they were here was only 3 days. The service was very good.

Peninsula Concrete Contractors Inc

Dennis and Jose were very responsive. They worked hard every day and finished the project in two weeks. Equipment that needed to be on site was always there or was able to be brought in quickly. The demolition required about 7 dump truck loads of old driveway and dirt so this was not a small project. Jose is a very meticulous worker and the pavers fit together perfectly. I highly recommend Peninsula Concrete.

In general this project went well. Angel was the only contractor who agreed to show up for an in-person assessment of the job. This allowed a dialog and trust to develop. His estimate for the job was lower than others we received. His communication is very good - pro-active when needed, responsive when needed. He has a core crew for the demo and forming. I was very impressed with the effort they gave - especially since a lot of the work was done during our 100+F multi-day heat wave. He brought in a second crew for the two days of pouring. They, too, worked fast and effectively. Some minor issues arose, but the team was pro-active about notifying me and we were easily able to resolve them. The quality of work was very good. Some imperfections exist, but nothing that would require re-work, and nothing that is noticeable without close inspection. Given the size, scope, and cost of the project, I am satisfied with the results and would hire Angel and his company again.

VALLE GARDENING & LANDSCAPING

He called 20 min before the appointment time to update me on his arrival time, a consideration which I believe conveys respect for the homeowners time and hints to how the job will run later on; ie, smoothly and timley. He spent over an hour with me at the property, taking notes, offering this thoughts and really paying attention to all the details. I felt like I would get the most accurate bid from hom because of this. He aslo had a clear knowledge of plants from years of experience and a strong passion for beautiful design. I really enjoyed the appointment, his energy and felt it would be easy working with him. The project will be rolling forward with a different manager (not me) for personal reasons with the homeowner but I look forward to end result as I am sure it will be spectacular!!!!
