  Out of a total of 5 HVAC companies that we had come and assess our system and provide quotes, Comfort First was FAR AND AWAY the most professional, and their pricing was VERY competitive. Roger was very thorough in his assessment. He looked throughout our home to check vent and window placement, and square footage to determine the best system for our home. He came with brochures and materials about Comfort First and sat down with us to discuss his recommendations and to tell us about Comfort First's company standards and policies. He was very knowledgeable and was able to answer every question we had with confidence and detail. The other 4 HVAC companies were very casual, performed cursory assessments, didn't spend more than a moment giving us their recommendation, and didn't display nearly the amount of knowledge we expected. Because of the professionalism we experienced with Roger, and Comfort First's competitive pricing, we were sold on them, and I am so glad! The installation was smooth and they made the whole process very easy on us--they took care of absolutely everything. We've had the new A/C for over a month now, and it's been great. We needed them to come out once to check on it, and they came out quickly and (due to the warranty) free of charge. The technician displayed the same high Ievel of professionalism and expertise, even though he knew this was an in-warranty service call. I recommend Comfort First to everyone

  It was a good experience. The only thing I didn't like was that a couple of weeks later it stopped working. I guess a switch or something had been triggered. I called them, and they came back, and ended up charging more money even though it was a five minute job. They charged a fee to go back out there even though it was nothing.&nbsp; <br /> <br /> I haven't had any issue since they came back out. I think it will take a couple of months to see how good the product is

  FANTASTIC!!!! If you need a reliable, efficient, knowledgeable, fair, great customer service company look no further than this family owned, well run business. Here is my story. I live in NC but have an elderly aunt who is battling cancer in Portsmouth, VA. She has dealt with another local company, R S Andrew's, for 15 years and has paid monthly to be on their service plan and part of their loyalty program. They put in a new HVAC system three years ago but have not serviced it since last winter even though she has the service contract. Her AC stopped working on a Tuesday night about 7pm during a heat wave. She called R S Andrew's after hours and was told they could not get there until Saturday. I called R S Andrew's the next day and explained she has a medical condition and I was not sure they were aware. They told me they were aware and Saturday was the best they could do. I immediately thought of Angie's list and found EL Sawyer and read the reviews. Called Thursday morning at 8:30am, Joe, the owner, answered the phone and I explained the situation. He jumped to help. He indicated he was extremely busy with the heat wave but given the issue he would send someone in the next two hours. His employee was there and had the clogged drain line fixed before 12pm. The drain line would not have been an issue if R S Andrew's had serviced the HVAC per the service agreement. Bottom line. Joe and his children who help run this family owned business were a GODSEND!!!! This is who one should contact FIRST!!! We plan to move the service contract to them. Obviously, they come running in case of an emergency even to those who are not current customers. They charged a very reasonable fee given the circumstances and speed they delivered. I could not be more pleased. JOE AND FAMILY....WELL DONE!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU'RE FAMILY. I look forward to working with you all for many years to come

  I contacted Rob Short of Stokley's Services in June to get an estimate on a full replacement of my existing heat pump system (including ducting) and conversion to an AC/Gas Heat system. He came out and did a thorough walk-thru and provided me a very reasonable quote a couple days later. We discussed when to do the job and agreed that late fall would be the best weather and availability. I contacted him again in early October and received information I needed to get my gas meter installed. We decided on an install date and I put half down on the quote. On October 26th, Angelo, Dominique, and Marty (a.k.a. NightLight) arrived bright and early to begin demolition and system mapping. I was at work for most of the day while they were here, but I got updates each afternoon on what they got done that day and what they were planning to do the next day. Angelo was the team leader and has a firm grasp on the project status at all times. He kept the task on track and always has a smile handy. I took the opportunity to informally inspect much of the work as they progressed and was impressed with their level of skill and craftsmanship: Sheet-metal work, electrical connections, gas-line fabrication, air-duct construction and assembly. Everything was done logically, and professionally. I also asked, being that my house did not have gas lines installed yet, that they install the pipe in a path that will make future gas connections for water, dryer, oven, and generator easy to do. They installed capped tee connections in the gas line along the way for my future convenience. The gas line is currently being pressure tested and will maintain air pressure for a few days until the gas company certifies it. That's peace of mind. We tested the airflow in the duct system and every vent had a nearly identical flow rate. You don't get that kind of precision by accident. When the job was done Angelo made sure that nothing was left behind, the work area was cleaner than when they started, and I had appropriate instructions for the pending gas company certification. I am 100% satisfied with the quality and value of my new high efficiency heating and cooling system. I would (and have in the past) recommend Stokley's to anyone...anytime
