My home has two heat pump units, a 5 ton and a 1.5 ton units. The smaller unit failed due to a muffler leak. The unit is eight years old and was OEM equipment installed by the home builder, and not exactly the best equipment around. I had the system trouble shot by another company and as it was explained to me, part of the repair would be the cost of replacing the R22 refrigerant that had leaked out. R22 is approaching $70 dollars a pound and I potentially needed 10 pounds - ouch! At that point in time I thought it prudent to explore my options. I received multiple proposals to remedy my situation, however Joe at Air care was the most earnest and forthright out of all the solicitations. Being an engineer I had a million questions and high expectations of what I wanted to know and what I wanted done. I had both units replaced with more efficient and reliable equipment. Air Care delivered on all accounts. Professional, polite and honest! I would highly recommend Air Care to take care of your heating and cooling needs.

Rich Mongiove and his son, Matthew, showed up on Mothers Day! Mr. Mangiove's greeting was "No mother should have to go without air conditioning on Mothers Day." y They were friendly and very efficient. They diagnosed the problem quickly and, just as quickly replaced a blown condenser. The charge of 127.00 was significantly less than the last time we had the condenser replaced, by someone else. When we wrote them a check for the work, I also tipped him $20. He said, "Give it to my son. He needs it more than me." I accidentally gave him a 50 dollar bill instead of a 20. When Matthew saw it, he asked "Are you sure you meant to give me this much?" That really blew me away. What a nice family business, run by honest people.

Certified Climate Control
My heat pump was 8 years old and has broken 4 times in the past 4 years. I decided to replace it and go with a unit that was at least 15 SEER so I would qualify for the rebate through Progress (Duke) Energy and also receive my Federal Tax Credit (since this program expires at the end of this year). Certified Climate Control gave me an estimate and I received a 5% Angie's List discount. The total for the system was was roughly $4200 after discount and I added on a 10 years parts and labor warranty through the manufacturer for $500 bringing the total to $4700. My install went perfectly - all workers were polite and neat and arrived when scheduled. My heat pump & air-handler were replaced, all ducts were cleaned and sealed and at my request they installed a Nest Learning Thermostat. 1 week after the install a tech came to the house to inspect the work and reseal anything that needed to be resealed. They then scheduled my city inspection at which time I received my certificate for my Federal Tax Credit. They also filed the paperwork for my Progress Energy Rebate which I received on my next bill. I could not be happier with the work and service I received and after getting two electric bills since the install I am happy to say that my electric bills went from roughly $300 last year to $170 this year. At that rate, the new unit will pay for itself and I have peace of mind knowing that I will not have to pay for repairs for the next 10 years.

The equipment seems to very good (Trane), including an electronic filter. So no complaints there. They were quite lax in returning my request for information. Recent Review: The heat pump to our second story stopped working a few weeks ago, then in the middle of March, the first floor unit didn't seem to be cooling properly. Four local companies came out to look at the problem and give us bids. The first two companies came out before the lower level issues developed. One company told us we would need to replace both heat pumps. Bob from Extreme Air and Electric said he could fix the lower level unit, but fixing the second unit was not cost effective. Bob was very knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. We scheduled the unit replacement for the next Thursday, and Bob got the lower level working within an hour, with parts from his truck. Chris and Chris came out to do the install on Thursday. They arrived on time, were very professional and cheerfully answered all my husband's questions, as he followed them around to watch them work. They finished in the time Bob had estimated it would take, without encountering any issues. They cleaned the work area completely (even cleaning the closet door where the old unit was held). After installing the new air handler, they repaired the drywall in the area, and made all surfaces neat and tidy. The new air handler drain pipes are easy to access, as is the filter. This was a very pleasant experience. When we need to replace the lower level unit, we will call Extreme Air and Electric.

Recent Review: Probably the quickest repair I've witnessed on a AC unit. Problem was quickly diagnosed and part ordered and reinstalled the following day. Darren is very friendly and suggested how I could save money on future repair of my outside heat pump, so I believe he saved me approximately $300 in future repair bills. He is honest and punctual.
