Frank identified the problem with the ice maker. It was worn and not something that could be repaired. Since the ice maker still works, though not as well, I decided not to replace it inasmuch as the refrigerator is 20 years old.

I was referred to Advantage Appliance Repair by a friend. She had been referred to them by a neighbor when her dryer had issues. She really liked the owner Gilbert as he was friendly and knowledgeable. Well, she was right. From the beginning of our telephone contact, Gilbert was professional and friendly. He responded to my voicemail message within a few hours. Since it was not an emergency, we scheduled the appointment for a few days out, specifically today between 4:30-6:30pm. He said he would contact me before his arrival. Well, it was 5:15pm and I was a little nervous he had forgotten about me. So, I sent him a text to see if we were still scheduled. He called to let me know I was his next appointment and to not worry. Anyway, to make a long story short, my friend was right! Gilbert was professional, friendly and very knowledgeable. He knew immediately what the problem was and replaced the ice maker within 20 minutes of his arrival. He explained how the leak happened and showed me the damaged part. Gilbert even cleaned the coils under the fridge for me. I will definitely pass along Adavatage's number to friends and family.

Bad start. I called to make an appointment and was told someone would be here between 12pm and 2:20. At 3pm, I called and they had no record of my having called. It was rescheduled for the next day. George arrived promptly, was professional, competent and apologetic about the mix-up.

I called on a Friday afternoon-they had serviceman out the next work day. he arrived on time (10 minutes early of the scheduled 3 hour window). our refrigerator ice maker was not working. he quickly disassembled it, found the broken component, got the part from his truck, reassembled and tested it---ten minutes. he explained what was wrong. he then noticed the filter was not correctly installed and reinstalled that. very efficient, professional and friendly. definitely use them again (support the small local independent business)

Found that line from valve assembly was cracked. Service person replaced broken section and verified that unit was working properly.

It went well. They unpluged it to see what was wrong and said the heater was out and I needed a new ice maker. They ordered it and the next morning it started working again and is still working.

I called LP on a Sunday afternoon because the ice maker in my refrigerator was leaking. He came out right away and had the leak fixed within an hour. He is an amazing guy! I highly recommend LP Appliance Service!

We called Monday evening to give them the model # and Tuesday morning the ice maker was replaced and works like new! They were out of stock at their warehouse, but went to their supplier in San Jose early Tuesday morning and still showed up on time.It was very pleaseant experience!

Mark and his helper were running a few minutes late, but I we received a call from the office advising when they would arrive. The ice maker in our 3 year old Liebherr refrigerator stopped working. Their service network is sparse - only two appliance repair shops to serve the entire San Francisco Bay area. The shop was good about setting an initial appointment, and Joe arrived within the 2 hour time range they gave. Although he was a nice guy, I got the impression that this wasn't a model he worked on a lot, so it took him some extra time to remove the ice maker. It was clear which part had broken, so he put everything back together and said he would put the part on order. I didn't hear back for about a week so I called for a status update and asked them to order the part. I left on vacation for 10 days and when I returned I called to schedule a return visit to install the new part. They were a bit backlogged and scheduled me for the following week. Joe again arrived on time with the part. He said that rather than order an entirely new unit they had ordered a kit, which he thought would save me some money. Unfortunately, disassembling the old unit proved difficult and required a long call in to the shop for help. In the end, whatever savings might have been gained by ordering the kit was largely eaten up by extra labor charges. When it came time to pay, I saw I was being charged $275 for a complete new icemaker, rather than $95 for the kit. It took Joe 3 calls back to the office to finally convince them that he had not installed a new complete unit. Had I not been persistent they would have charged me the higher price. As it was, I was charged $120 in extra labor because of the long assembly time. In hindsight it would have been better to get an entirely new unit, which would have taken 5 minutes to install. I don't blame Joe, and he was apologetic, but I was pretty annoyed that I had to work so hard not to be overcharged. I just hope that the problem is actually fixed. I won't know until the first batch of ice is made.
