Audio High - Mountain View
The installation and setup of my home theater project led by Audio High went amazingly well. The Audio High guys were all very knowledgeable and, after I provided them with a budget, they made excellent recommendations for components and speakers that fit within it. They also did an excellent job of demoing speakers and components for me that were slightly outside of my initial budget which did get me to splurge a bit, but in the end I'm glad I did because the system with the higher end speakers and components they recommended sounds and looks amazing. Regarding the quality of the work, I waited 6+ months to write this review because I wanted to ensure that I'd used every facet of the theater before doing so and it is now clear to me that the quality of the work is outstanding. For example, the voluminous in-wall wiring that had to be installed was installed meticulously, with every wire run, tied and labeled with precision, and the custom programming of the RTI control system was done thoughtfully and with care to cover my every use case. And, most importantly, the system has worked exactly as designed at the outset of the project. Regarding responsiveness and professionalism, the Audio High team is incredibly responsive and professional. In six months+ of use I've had one minor issue when the RTI control system lost contact with the Anthem receiver, and after sending an email to the Audio High team asking how to fix it, I received two separate responses within one hour with suggested steps to take to resolve the issue. When my first attempt didn't work the Audio High guys offered to come to my home within 48 hours to fix it, however, they subsequently asked a few more questions of me and were able to correctly diagnose the problem and help me fix it over email without an onsite visit and at no charge. Outstanding and responsive service. Regarding price, I give them a "B" on price because I did receive one other proposal from another home theater installer in Silicon Valley for the same project and it came in at approximately the same price (it was difficult to precisely compare the two proposals because not all the recommended speakers and components were identical). However, I am very happy with the expert product recommendations and advice that I received from Audio High and with the quality and thoughtfulness of their installation, so from a value-for-money-spent perspective I feel the price was an "A". All in all I would absolutely use Audio High again and in fact will do so in a year or two when I'm ready to upgrade my projector and install additional in-ceiling speakers for Atmos.

Mike & John were great. They installed a 32'' LCD in my office that swings over 180 degrees and can be viewed from my office and my living room! I have HDTV with digital audio in the living room and the perfect PC monitor in the office, all from one display... and the guys were awesome at Theater Works TV!!

They arrived on time for the consultation, listened carefully to what I wanted, assessed what I already had in place and made reasonable (not top-end if I didn't want it) recommendations for what would accomplish my goals. They also made suggestions for possibilities that I had not considered -- some were not appropriate, others were, and they never pushed to do something I didn't want. They were price conscious yet also quality conscious. They didn't want to install crap but they didn't want to give me more than I needed, either. They have very definite opinions about what is good and what isn't in the market today, but they didn't insist on those options. I also trust their years of experience in this field, which was evident in their consultation and their work at the house. As it turns out, they ran into some structural difficulties with my 1950s era house, which they hadn't anticipated (weird wall construction) but they totally went with it, worked around as the problems, and managed to find solutions to every twist and turn. They also were generous in shaving off cost estimates when problems emerged that weren't my fault (and not theirs either), which they needn't have done, but they did anyway. They are clearly committed to making customers happy. I really like these guys. They listen. They do what they say they will do. And they are, in my experience, very reasonably priced. If you want any work at all done on home theater or audio systems, these are the guys to do it.

Ace Technologies
He did a very good job and we spent $ 6600 on that work. He sold us the equipment and installed a full house music system with an iPod interface in 4 zones, basically speakers throughout the house. He installed little touch pads, a wall mounted flat screen TV and all the wiring. He sold us a Niles audio sound system which was iPod compatible and 4 different key pads and on the flat screen it had an infrared remote extended and a flat screen TV mount. He set up with that and gave us advice on what to do and all that. We were pleased with the final outcome. We liked that he was a nice guy and was a very skilled technician.

Wonderful. This is the second time doing business with this company. They installed my home theater system about 10 years ago. I recently had to replace the broken TV. Though this is a very small job, they treated me just as if it had been a complete home theater. I do not know much about home theater (other than liking it), and they took the time to explain everything to me. Courteous, professional service. Will not hesitate to use their services again or to recommend them to others. When I upgrade the audio and wiring, I will be using them again.

Gene is a gentleman. He is professional, as well as personable. If you want to talk, he's ready to talk. If you want to be quiet, he'll work quietly. He arrives with tools in hand, parts and all. He is clean, respectful of the work area you provide for him, and graceful in his craft. He showed up on time. The only suggestion I can add is that a reminder call would help some folks. His ethos is a repairman's ethos. If you can fix it, do it. This is coming back into fashion, thank goodness. The old notion -- if it's broken, throw it away and get a new one -- is finally getting the criticism it deserves. So Gene is a man where the times have come his way. I have recommended him to many of my friends, who are also trying to take good care of old electronic audio gear.

Our experience with Live Wire was superb. Mark Seibles, their general manager, came to do an estimate. We accepted and the work started exactly as scheduled. Mark's craftsmanship is outstanding. Our systems look fabulous, friends are jealous of them (isn't that part of the point), and everything works perfectly. We had had Mark do some similar work about a year ago, and were very happy with his work at that time, so we had little hesitation in contacting him for this job also. In addition to performing very high quality work, Mark is easy to work with, and he is very flexible. On both jobs, we made some last minute changes that were not in the original contract, and Mark very readily agreed to the changes. He understands that he is there to make you happy, and he wants you to be completely satisfied with his work. One of our neighbors also contracted with him to update her home theater system, and she too was very satisfied.

Called number from Craigslist search. I described the job over the phone and John said he could probably do the job the next day but would confirm it that next morning. He was pretty sure he could fit it in. He said for a small job that was an undetermined amount of time that it would be time and materials. Next morning he called and confirmed for between 2pm and 2:30. He called me at 2pm and said he would be there in travel time from SJ. Met him. He got his tools out and went to work (the job was kind of self explanatory). One of his guys showed up a couple of hours later. They both knocked out the job in good time. Very responsive. I would recommend him based on my experience.

With all the Big Box stores like BestBuy taking over every aspect of life it seems, it's nice to find a small, independent shop still in the neighborhood to rely on! They know their gear, and will help you choose the right equipment for your needs. Customer Service is alive and well at Harmony. If I had anything negative to say about Harmony, it's that the Owner, Frank, needs to drop the pretentious, elitist attitude that he sometimes has on the phone, like I know prevails in these "High End Audio" stores. Not everyone lives in Pacific Heights and is going to spend boatloads of money in the store. Their selection could be a little better, but I know space is a premium in high rent S.F. so I completely understand.

First Reflection Audio Video
I found Ron Jones on Angie's list. We recently moved from the east coast to San Ramon and I had planned on bringing my existing home theater set up and just reinstalling. Ron had such outrageous reviews (on Yelp as well) I knew he'd be the perfect person to marshal me through my project. After speaking with Ron and talking through what I wanted and what I had, it became quickly evident that some of my components would need an upgrade (my old TV/Receiver was 8+ years old). We worked out everything by phone and email and Ron found a great electrician to subcontract out the wiring. The electrician was so good, we hired him to do a ton of other work in the house as well. Ron is a meticulous planner and executes his projects like an audio video scientist/artist. He's in business doing the hobby he loves - and you can tell. Our new receiver, surround and remote control are all integrated and networked with my old stuff (Blu-ray, Apple TV, TiVo) - the speakers (Episode) are killer and the new 60" panel is the last plasma from Panasonic as they have now ceased production. By the way - the pic is ridiculous. If you're looking for a thoughtful, detailed, thorough consultant who can guide you to the best solution, Ron is your guy. Because the room has an area rug on the way, Ron will be back to recalibrate the speakers for optimal enjoyment. There are few things that I don't research to the nth degree - Ron delivered. I (and obviously a lot of others) would recommend First Reflection Audio Video.

Andy arrived on time. He brought blankets to cover the floor where he placed his tools and supplies. We discussed the job so that there would be no misunderstanding. Andy immediately went to work in installing the flat screen TV in bedroom. This took him about one and a half hours. When he was done he cleaned up the area and moved the furniture back to the original locations. The TV worked great! Than he proceeded to work on the system in the family room. The hardware installation took him about five hours. His workmanship was meticulous. Once this process was complete he connected all of equipment using cables I provided, he did not pressure me into buying unnecessary cables or connectors. Than he calibrated the audio part of the system so that the sound was balanced on all channels. The system works great we are enjoying watching movies and listening to music. Andy was very professional When he was in doubt he asked questions so that the system was installed and setup to suit our needs. I would hire Andy again.

We are very satisfied with the final appearance and functionality. The installation looks like it was done during the complete renovation. the men worked continuously while they were here and I think I was charged based on the actual time it took to do the job. The final cost was above the over the phone estimate but seemed fair. The workmen might have been the owner and a long time employee. Their work standards were very high and we are pleased to recommend this company.

I had just bought my new car and it did not have a factory nav system (I wanted the car off the lot for a good price rather than looking for one with the nav...). Realizing I could probably get as good or better system aftermarket, I went in for a quote and talked to Dave. He showed me a couple of options, and helped me pick a Pioneer touchscreen nav system with traffic, Bluetooth connectivity, XM radio, etc - it ended up being the top of the line Pioneer in-dash Nav. I set an appointment for a week later to bring the car back for the installation. On installation day I dropped it off around 9:30am and picked it up completed around 5pm. They removed and returned to me the stock CD changer/stereo that came with the vehicle, and installed the touchscreen nav in its place. They did fantastic work, and overall I got a way better system than the factory Nissan Nav would have been, at a lower price, and the installation was super clean. I would highly recommend these guys for aftermarket stereo (or alarm) installs - they did a fantastic job.

NEW AGE COMMUNICATION
I can't say enough about how wonderful Warren is at installing my computer data, phone, and Directv satellite cabling. His business is Home Theatre, digital home automation, and cabling. I had to find someone reliable to clean up the mess that a previous contractor had done with over 30 cable pulls through the house. Warren worked meticulously and is one of those hard to find guys that will offer you solutions and carry them out, instead of offering you what can't be done. I had him install ceiling speakers that required some crawling through the basement crawl space to pull the wires and he did it efficiently whereas my other contractor kept complaining about how difficult it would be. He tested my coax satellite cabling and helped be install a patch panel for phone as well, not to mention the great work he did for my data cabling. I highly recommend Warren and he works professionally, is on time, and most importantly offers you diligent solutions for all your Home Theater needs.
