Frequently Asked Questions

The Standard, Advanced, Enterprise and Subscription editions of VMware Cloud Foundation include the integrated Tanzu Kubernetes Grid offering (specifically the Tanzu Standard edition). Also, the VMware Cloud Foundation Starter edition includes standard VM workload management, and the Tanzu Standard edition is an add-on SKU for management of Tanzu Kubernetes Grid clusters.

In addition to existing migration methods, there is limited support for in-place migrations from VMware Cloud Foundation 3.10.1.2+ releases to VMware Cloud Foundation 4.3.1 via VMware Professional Service Organization (PSO). Contact your sales and channel teams for guidance on choosing the best method for migrating your environment.

Select service providers from the VMware Cloud Provider Program (VCPP) offer cloud services powered by VMware Cloud Foundation, including CenturyLink, OVH, and Rackspace. VMware Cloud on AWS is an on-demand service operated, managed, and sold by VMware. Additional solutions include Azure VMware Solutions and Google Cloud VMware Solution.

There are five ways to purchase VMware Cloud Foundation: (1) directly from VMware (perpetual licensing or subscription through VMware Cloud Universal); (2) from VMware channel partners; (3) as part of an integrated system from OEM vendors; and (4) as a subscription service from a public cloud service provider (5) as a subscription service through VMware Cloud Universal.
