Boston Central AC System Installation

Danny came out and gave us an estimate on our non functioning furnace as well as our old central a/c. . He took the time to explain what was wrong, what was needed and different options we could take. He was very polite and explained the current rebates available . He took more of an interest in us than the others who came out. His price was better and the equipment he was replacing it with was better than the others.. The installation went fine and we are very happy.

My central ac stopped working on Sunday afternoon when the temp was 93 degrees. He was at my house within the hour and fixed the problem (broken capacitor) within 20 minutes. He also offered to check and replace our air filters and offered his professional opinion on a broken pipe outside our house. He was professional, polite, and prompt. Would definitely use again!

After a regular tune-up of central AC, technician said a couple of parts might need to be replaced, but system was old (about 19 years) and used obsolete refrigerant, so I might consider replacement. Sila sent a project manager to review system. He spent about 45 minutes at house, taking measurements, talking to me about what I wanted, and suggesting options. They apparently deal exclusively with Lennox products. He gave me an estimate of a little over $10,000 for a new furnace, AC, and a bypass humidifier, which I hadn't had before. There was no hard sell; it felt like a professional presentation. (I got an estimate from another company. The guy spent about 15 minutes at the house, which didn't seem like enough time to consider what the house might need and what I was looking for in a major project. He sent an estimate that was a little lower, for American Standard products, but it wasn't exactly an apples-to-apples comparison. I didn't get the same professional vibe.) As I was still considering the offer from Sila and was close to deciding to use them, the project manager informed me they had an opening in the schedule for 2 days later and offered a bit of a discount if I took that date, so I accepted. The crew came at the appointed time and spent about 10 hours doing the installation. They had a professional attitude and tried to be as little disruptive as possible and cleaned up after themselves. The system has been working fine since then. The new AC is quieter than the old one and is supposed to be more energy efficient. The week after the installation they sent someone to check it out, check the refrigerant level, explain how things work, etc.

Bryan and his team, including Jimmy and everyone else, is very professional, friendly, and punctual. My central air conditioning system was 23 years old and had been working fine (York brand), but then needed repair, but such an old system has old refrigerant. Bryan replaced the entire system, including the compressor outside, the air handler in the attic, and all the ductwork. The new ductwork provided better air flow, and a few additional vents were installed. Bryan subcontracted the ductwork, but this turned out excellent, with a few additional vents for better placement than in the original installation. The ducts are insulated, unlike the original installation. The ducts are routed over the mid-span rafter ties, rather than along the floor of the attic as in the original installation, so I have somewhat better access and storage space in my attic now. There is easy access to the air filter, which is a 2-inch-thick pleated filter, rather than the older-style one-inch-thick filter. July is a bad time to find an air conditioner contractor. I contacted five contractors. Four responded. Bryan came over the next day, while none of the others could come within a few weeks. Bryan quoted the day after that. Then the next day, he brought over two temporary air conditioner units (the kind that roll around on wheels and have a duct out a window) so we were ok in our bedroom and kitchen. A couple of days later he brought over a third such unit. That kept us comfortable until the Rheem units arrived and he could install them. Our drop-down attic stairs needed replacement before work could begin. Bryan recommend a contractor who did excellent work, replacing our 37-year-old, spring-loaded wooden stairs with hydraulic (or pneumatic) aluminum stairs. This work including replacing wooden molding and painting that ended up looking as good as the original installation. There was no damage to any interior walls, molding, or handrails during any of the work, including removing the old air handler and ductwork from the attic and installation of the new air handler and ductwork. Bryan sped up the job by doing everything as soon as possible, such as installing the compressor outside and the air handler in the attic while waiting for the ductwork installation. Bryan arranged an electrician the very next morning after ductwork installation. All old scrap metal, including the old compressor, air handler, and ducting was picked up the very same day that it was hauled down from the attic and onto my driveway. They chose a reasonable location that was out of sight and wouldn't damage my grass, but it was nice that it was all removed right away. Bryan filled out all paperwork for me for the energy rebate. All I had to do was sign it and mail it, so that was very convenient. This review is for a brand-new 3-ton Rheem central air conditioning system, completely separate from my heating system and its ducts. .

Needed to replace my home a/c and GMR Mechanical visited my home quickly. We discussed the options and was quoted a price on the spot with the available installation dates. Their prices were reasonable so I hired the company for the A/C replacement. The work completed by GMR Mechanical was excellent, cleaned up and were very polite. I would hire again.

Replaced existing central air with American Standard air handler and compressor, lines, and reworked existing duct work. Jamie was very prompt, knowledgeable, and professional. On the day of installation, everyone showed up on time and ready to work. Mr.Hooper came to go over everything and answer any questions. Each person was very professional. The work was completed on time, and my house and yard were left immaculate. Mr. Hooper came back at completion to make sure everything was completed and working properly. We would highly recommend Berry Mechanical. We look forward to using them for annual maintenance and any service calls.

My tech (Robert Duclos) provided great service and was able to diagnose the issue my unit was having. He did not try and upsell parts or services that were un-needed and provided honest assessment of the status of the system. He was able to further schedule consultation with other member of the Cotti-Johnson team to help plan our replacement of the failed unit. Luckily the diagnostic fee we paid can be applied to the purchase if we decide to use their bid for the replacement.
