  In order to give a proper review, you need to understand what we asked of Don Vith of Vith Contracting: 1) build a 1,240 sq/ft 2nd story addition on top of a 60 year-old ranch. The addition consisted of 1 Mast BR w/ Master Bath, 2 BR, an add'l full bathroom and a utility closet, 2) Dining room remodel, and 3) Sunroom addition. I can count on three fingers the number of times my wife and I agreed on something w/o days, weeks, months...and even years of debate. Those were getting married, having kids, and choosing Don to turn our house into our "forever" home. Here's why we chose Don: 1.) Safety and Convenience: Don's #1 concern throughout the project was the well-being of my family and his crew. Don's plan allowed for us to continue to live in the house during construction w/ minimal disruption or inconvenience (reread the first paragraph what we asked of Don to put this in perspective.) Two weeks after the project kicked off, COVID shut down the world. Months later when the shelter-in-place mandate was lifted, Don and his guys got back to work. Don followed CDC recommendations to reduce the risk of virus transmission throughout the entire 16 month project. Oh, plus we are clean freaks and not once did we have to bust out the vacuum because of the construction. I know that may be hard to believe, but Don would create air tight ceiling to floor 2x4 and poly walls w/o marking up your floor or ceiling. 2) Confidence and accountability: Don was onsite EVERY single day of the project. If something wasn't done to his own satisfaction, he had his crew re-do it no matter how small of a detail. To put it in perspective, one of my neighbors overheard Don instructing his crew to do something with such detail he told me "If I didn't know that was your house, you'd think it was Don's." 3) Ownership: One could mistake Don's straight-to-the-point, no b.s. approach to business intimidating. Well, if you prefer a contractor who will tell you what you want to hear, take little or no pride in his work, then Don is certainly not your guy. Don takes pride in his work. He has decades of exceptional quality work under his tool belt. Trust me. I did my homework. 4) Cost: A wise man once said "You get what you pay for." Don wasn't the cheapest, nor was he the most expensive. Like any project, we did incur some unexpected expenses, but Don managed our expectations from the start. Once you start tearing into existing structure, you'll come across a nasty surprise or two. 5) Time: I have no time to deal with b.s. Don shielded and protected us from the politics of obtaining permits and the ridiculous, absolutely unnecessary extra expense an ego tripping local code enforcer tried to pull. (There is no local, county or state code requiring the need to tear apart the ceiling of an existing structure to install wired smoke detectors. And the sun-bleached numbers on our curb-side mailbox have nothing to do with our addition. But the code enforcement officer TRIED but failed to hold up on signing off on our inspection because Don knows Code. Don also held every subcontractor to the same quality of work Vith Contracting provides. If they failed, Don escorted them off the property. He kept all the trades in line. I can't begin to express how much that meant to me, being the control freak that I am. One day I overheard Don tactfully scolding a subcontractor for sub-par work. "Would you do that kind of work at your own house?" The sub didn't respond. He got Don's point. I could go on and on about our no-less than positive experience with Vith Contracting. However, there are not enough hours in the day. Plus Don is coming by today to check up on things. Yeah he does that too.   Gary's work is stellar. I hired him for my big upstairs renovation of converting a bedroom into my master bathroom. I liked his work so much I immediately hired him for a second round of renovation of adding a deck and flipping my downstairs family room. He has an initial meeting to go over all of my requests and then he puts together a contract with everything included in the pricing. He communicates well along the way and answers my questions in a timely manner. I recommend him to anyone needing work done

  We recently bought our first home and needed to make things a little more functional... and also decided to splurge and get a little frivolous 🤣 Our split entry home had what was once a very pale cream carpet on the steps, in the livingroom, and throughout the hallway, which wasn't most the practical choice for a home in Southwestern, PA. Even if I had magically scrubbed out every stain, I knew the level of upkeep it would require wouldn't work with little ones we are lucky to have terrorizing our home on a regular basis! Bob, Ryan, and Mike replaced the flooring for us, painted the livingroom/ entry way/ hallway, and with a surprise backorder on supplies (Thanks Covid 🙄) stained and painted our steps as well. Being first time home owners we were embarassingly indecisive to say the least 🤦! The whole team walked us through every process, every step of the way and made us totally comfortable and confident in our decisions. Then we decided to have some fun! The kitchen was totally functional... but also not quite out aesthetic. We decided to splurge and go for some bright, fun paint and a beach vibe backsplash (If we can't afford to live AT the beach, at least we can see some of those beachy blues everyday!!) I couldn't possibly be happier with the outcome. The crew was an absolute delight, to say the very least. Kind, sweet, trustworthy, knowledgeable, their energy was contagious, and we felt totally comfortable with them in our home. Their work is thorough and when I pointed out the most minuscule, minute, OCD details that I could see, they jumped at the chance to fix it without giving it a second thought. It was very clear that our happiness was truly at the forefront of their business model. After seeing the end results, I can't wait to have them come back and help me fulfill some more dream projects from my Pinterest wishlist!! Do yourself a favor and set up a meeting with them about your renovations

  I put my old Victorian house on the market this summer, and it sold in two days!. I must give credit to S.L. Contractors and wonderful job they did remodeling my house. I got their name from Angie’s List four years ago. My first project was the painting of all the exterior windows. I have three floors. They even repainted the rusty grills at my basement windows. That wasn’t a big job, because the jobs kept getting bigger. Then I had my old pantry converted into a powder room. My next project was the biggest one - removing all the knob and tube wiring and then replacing the plaster with drywall and finally adding can lighting. What I love the most is my new kitchen. The kitchen sold the house! It was exactly what I wanted. Mr. Washington, general contractor, over the years has been a source of information about quality construction. He was kind of a design consultant for the remodel job for the kitchen. When discussing the size of the island, he said “No one ever says the island is too big.” He worked with me and was flexible as I selected decorative touches from retail stores and online. My kitchen was a challenge. It had pine wood paneling and the layout didn’t work. Mr. Washington changed the appliance layout. I needed my hallway tiles to match my kitchen floor. Mr. Washington searched and found tiles in Texas that matched perfectly. I had a positive experience with S.L. Contractors
