Fun Things to Do in Boston for October 2021

Explore Boston by practicing for the Boston Marathon, cruising the Charles River, and more with a Meetup group.

Boston

Home to nearly 700,000 people, Boston is the most populous city in New England and one of the oldest municipalities in the United States. Since its establishment as an early European settlement in 1630, the city has grown into a thriving center of culture, entertainment, and scientific research. From its renowned museums and historical landmarks to its annual festivals and eclectic restaurants, Boston has something to offer for everyone.

No matter what your interests are, you don’t have to do them alone in Boston. Check out the following Meetup events happening in Boston during October 2021, and find something to do today!

Join a tech-enabled social club

I Wanted To Do That…Just Not Alone! ComeWith of Boston is a new Meetup group that brings together people who want to find new friends and cultivate meaningful relationships. With more than 200 active members and counting, the group welcomes “active, single professionals who are looking to improve their social lives” and build a network through shared experience via Meetup.

On Saturday, October 2, ComeWith will be kicking off their first Meetup at Trillium Brewing – Fenway for drinks, fun, and networking. Got an idea for a potential Meetup? Bring your suggestions for group events and activities. To facilitate interaction between members, the organizer encourages you to register for Meetup events and connect with fellow attendees through the free ComeWith app.

Learn about investing over pastries

Brush up on your financing skills and dive into basic investing with the Boston – Learning to Invest Over Coffee! Meetup group. The Meetup, which has over 2,800 members, invites everyone, including “finance beginners and underprivileged individuals” who are interested in discussing their investing ideas and questions over a cup of joe and delicious pastries.

On Wednesday, October 6, join this money savvy group at Tatte Bakery & Cafe. Learn about topics such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds while meeting new people and making new friends. Can’t make it on October 6? The group meets weekly on Wednesdays throughout the month.

Prep for the Boston Marathon with a shakeout run

It’s time to break out those running shoes! The Dashing Whippets Running Team – Boston Chapter is a group of nearly 150 members with different running goals but a shared love of running around the city of Boston and beyond. The group hosts runs for people of all abilities and experience levels and offers training plans for a variety of local races.

Team up with the Dashing Whippets for a Pre-Boston Marathon Shakeout Run and Brunch on Sunday, October 10. You’ll join the group for a 3-mile jog along the Charles River, followed by coffee and brunch at a nearby location. Visiting from the Big Apple? New York Dashing Whippets are welcome to join!

Take a day cruise along the Charles River

Boston is located along the scenic Charles River, making it the perfect setting for riverboat cruises. In addition to passing cultural and historic sites in Boston and Cambridge, boat passengers can glimpse world-renowned universities, including Harvard and MIT, and catch picturesque views of neighborhoods such as Beacon Hill.

Join the 20s & 30s Boston Women’s Social Meetup for a 90-minute Foliage Cruise on Sunday, October 24. The Meetup’s goal is to introduce members to other women in the Boston area, and create opportunities to meet like-minded people through various types of day and evening activities. Participants are encouraged to share ideas and post Meetups, so don’t hesitate to start connecting!

Don’t see any activities that speak to you?

Don’t worry. There are so many fun things to do in Boston, it would be impossible to capture them all on one list. If there’s an activity you’d love to do in Boston but you can’t find an event for it, you can easily create your own Meetup group and host your own event!
