It's night and day. It's the reason I sold my RX10-3 and bought an RX10-4. The RX10-3 was nearly useless for shooting sports while the RX10iv is better than the A99ii, which I also own.

Stopping down to f6.5-7.1 will actually be a little less sharp due to diffraction. It will increase DOF which may put more of the subject in focus.

If the best your car can do is 65 and that's how fast you drive the engine will wear out a lot faster than the one that can do 150 because you are pushing it to its limit all the time. :-)
