    Too bad I cannot fill in a 6th star out of the 5. The workmanship of Guardian Chimney Solutions was exceptional. Additionally, the crew was professional at every level. Joe patiently distinguished himself from the other bids I entertained in that the other two operations suggested I do a complete teardown and rebuild (the easy option). Joe on the otherhand knew how important it was for me to have the integrity of the brickwork on the chimney and around the house to be integrated and authentic. He was more interested in doing it right even though my choice of pluck and replace and pointtucking involved a higher level of difficulty on his crew. In the end, the bill was actually lower than the other bids. In summary, I not only received top-notch workmanship and professionalism at a fair price, but true artisanship.     Our old garage was literally sinking into the ground, so we new we needed to replace it. We shopped around for years and ultimately got a bid from Craftsman because they had done such great work with other window and woodworking projects we've had. They came in at about the same price as two of our other lowest estimates, but with higher quality materials (HardiePlank instead of vinyl siding, etc) and we knew that they take pride in their work and were easy to work with. So we went with them. They tore down the old garage, laid the new foundation and framed it up in 2 weeks--it was lighting fast. After that, there was a bit of a delay in getting the siding up and finishing the project, but overall it was inordinately fast, about 4-5 weeks until final inspection, and all of our neighbors were surprised by the speed, quality and professionalism of the crew. The final product is beautiful, they are one of the best companies in the country for installing HardiePlank, the garage is extra tall, with an 8 foot tall door, 2x6 construction, plenty of storage room, and everything that we wanted. We had a fence that connected to the old garage and Craftsman even took care of moving the door and a panel to make it work with the new garage (larger footprint), as well as removing a bush to make a new path along side the garage. They took care of all the little details and didn't nickel-and-dime us, they just looked at it as one project that they wanted to do to our complete satisfaction, and they did so. We will definitely keep using them for any project they'll do and strongly recommend them. We have used a lot of contractors over the years to work on our old house, and they are the best in terms of a combination of quality/professionalism/price

    We met with Mike (sales person) at our home. Mike was very professional and attentive. We had a list of questions, and also gave him several 13" x 19" computer renderings of exactly what we wanted to have done. We were very prepared. Mike answered all of our questions. Craftsman's Choice also has some nice features such as having your project in the cloud so you can just check on when different segments of your job is being scheduled. They also provide you with a very detailed bid. We received Mike's bid via an email. We had originally started out with three businesses all chosen from a very extensive and detailed search of many sites including Angie's List. One of the businesses we eliminated because they would not email a bid, but wanted a face-to-face meeting to present the bid, which we did not want. Both remaining businesses (Craftsman's Choice and one other) were extremely competitive in their bids. We (my wife and I) finally made a 12 category questionnaire in which we could grade each business between a 1 and a 10. Both businesses came out exactly the same average points. Better in some areas, worse in others. We finally went with the other firm only because of several Angie's List reviews that indicated a similar problem with Craftsman's Choice, but this was minor. We emailed Mike informing him we had chosen another firm. Mike emailed us back and was very professional and even asked how he could improve his presentation. We are very sure that we would have been pleased with the work if we had chosen Craftsman's Choice. But in the end you have to choose one business. Both were extremely competitive in pricing and professional in their presentation. And if the other business (which did not have those few negative reviews) did not exist, we would have gone with Craftsman's Choice without hesitation. In the end it was a "gut decision" and one which was hard for us to make

    In Aug./Sep. 2019, Rogers Masonry did a tear-down of our decrepit stuccoed chimney, followed by a beautiful brick re-build. The project posed some every unique challenges that Roger handled with a high level of professionalism and diligence. He is exceptionally knowledgeable in all chimney-related matters and provided almost-daily progress reports to document the work his crew was performing. His communication was exemplary, and he was responsive to our questions/concerns, all of which he promptly addressed. We were especially appreciative of the many pictures of the ongoing work that Roger provided throughout the project. We have already had the opportunity to make a referral for Roger and hope to work with him on another chimney project in 2020

    The above rating represents our overall experience with the company throughout the duration of the deck build. This does not reflect the quality of the deck itself. Unfortunately our experience with Outdoor Solutions started out great and ended on a very bad note. Without going into many details, I’ll just say that we have our interpretation of what happened and how it should have been handled, and Jim has his own. Jim could improve in a few areas: keeping composure and not getting emotional when there is a disagreement, timeliness of completing work, and most importantly, communication – make sure that subcontractors are aware of any designs/upgrades (e.g. the subcontractors weren’t told of the angled boards, picture framing, or gate – these items were only caught proactively due to us being home during the project and frequently engaging and chatting with them), better coordination with the stair companies and clients (our spiral stair install was delayed weeks due to this – confusion over who needed to install footings, coordinating inspections, etc), and being proactive and iterative with your communications to clients. As soon as frustrations began with the timing and issues with our stairs, the mood and quality of communications from the company decreased significantly. And lastly, treat your clients with respect, even during disagreements. We were extremely offended by Jim’s requirement that we hand over the check for final payment before he would complete a few things with which we weren’t 100% satisfied. This is the first time we’ve received such an ultimatum and we’ve never been put in such an uncomfortable situation working with other contractors. There was no precedent for this – we paid both the initial deposit and first half of the payment promptly and never once acted or communicated in a way that would imply we were not in a position to pay the final invoice. Such an implication was terribly insulting. In fact, we were constantly trying to get in touch with Jim and his wife to understand when the final work would be done so that we could give them the check and finalize the project. We were both frustrated with the situation, but unfortunately the notion of us wanting some of the detail work on our $30k+ deck to be done correctly was unacceptable in the company’s eyes. That aside, the quality of the deck is great and the subcontractors who built it, Cheryl and Tim Barry from T&L Construction, were absolutely phenomenal
