Economy Lock and Key Inc

My wife lost the key to a rental car, and I needed to return the car the same day that I called Economy. I was told a time ( within a few hours) that someone would be there. He called ahead of time, to tell me where he was, and gave me his ETA. It was a bit later than the appointed time, but it was still before noon, and he made an extra key at no charge! The quick response was exceptional and the rental was returned earlier than the scheduled time.

KEYLO LOCKSMITH

They were very professional. We bought a 900-pound safe from them and they installed it. They were very prompt. They were just really great guys. We explained what we needed and they gave us bunch of different options for what we were looking for. Because the safe was so heavy, they made arrangements to come out when it was convenient for us, delivered the whole thing, and we had it all within a week. They have been around for really long time and I know that they have a great reputation in town. We were really happy with them.

Quick Key Locksmith
5.0
It was fine however there was a misunderstanding because I was having something else re-keyed and I thought it was part of the $19 deal amount and he told me that that was extra. He was very good and he honored the service on the Angie's List website and the service was re-keying. I guess there are arts of the re-keying that he charges differently for but he was very good he didn't charge me any more. But I think the coupon needs to be more specific because if it's just a re-keying labor then that should be different from there being parts to be included for the re-keying service and that would cost extra. The service took place on Monday. It didn't take him very long. He said he will straighten out the miscommunication next time.

CENTERVILLE LOCKSMITH
5.0
Centerville Locksmith did a beautiful and very efficient job. The lock is a 1960 lock so they were very accommodating regarding replacement parts. The staff was very prompt, cordial, it was easy for them to provide explanations, and they tried to look out for the consumer's needs. It is a pleasure for me to recommend them. The price was fair.

Lee's Locksmith

He was very punctual and came right out. He was reasonable. He did the keys for my front door and re-keyed my back door so that I could use the same key for both the doors. He had it done quickly and made me try all the keys first. I liked him and would hire him again.

Allied Lock & Safe

I have used them once, and they were very good. They were on time and did a very good job. They were very reasonable for the job they did; when locksmiths come home, they are not going to be cheap in any case. It wasn't inexpensive, and it wasn't an emergency or anything. I don't have a lot of experience with locksmiths, but I guess the price was good. I think all locksmiths are expensive. I would use them again in the future if necessary.

It went very well! He answers his own phone, which I appreciate. If he didn't answer right away, he would contact me back within 15 minutes. He's on time, very courteous, and professional. He repaired the lock at a reasonable rate at on the same day I phoned him.

`Wonderful work! Ronnie Poindexter was great. The estimated arrival was between 11-12, and he arrived right at 11:00 am. He was very honest and offered options for repair/replacement. He was a highly skilled locksmith and it was a pleasure to work with him. I will use this firm for all of my locksmith work in the future.

REED BROTHERS SECURITY

Phone call was professional in setting up appt. Locksmith arrived within appt window, worked independently after given the walk through (which was nice since I was cooking dinner for my twin preschoolers), and was hard working. Price was best $250 that I've ever spent on locksmith!

Generally well. The locksmith arrived in an unmarked van, so I didn't know it was him until he parked in front of my house. It was obvious I wasn't a locksmith because I made several misinterpretations he had to correct.

Prolocksmiths 24/7
3.0
When I called Prolocksmith I got a dispatch person who seemed to be working from home. She was quick in trying to connect me with someone to do the work. Referred me to discuss rate and other specifics with the locksmith who would be performing the work. The actual locksmith called me within 5 minutes and indicated that he would be at my place in 20 minutes. I had to interrupt him to tell him what type of lock was on my door. Also when I asked about rates, he said that he would not be able to tell until he was there and I could opt out at that time. Locksmith who showed up was with another company and did not know anything about Angieslist. He tried to give me some sort of a discount but said the software on his smartphone would not let him. Upside, he arrived within 30 minutes. Downside, cost $272 and I am not sure what company opened my door but it was not the licensed Prolocksmiths.

Pop-A-Lock San Francisco
5.0
Overall, they were great. Gave me an estimate over the phone and that's what I ended up paying. The locksmith was on time and did a good job changing my locks. The only weird thing that happened was at the very end, the locksmith said their systems were down and that I had to pay cash for the service. I told him I didn't have that much $ on me and he said I would have to go to an ATM. I started driving to the ATM and decided to call Pop A Lock directly. The dispatcher at Pop A Lock said he could take my credit card over the phone and called the locksmith. The locksmith said he had forgotten they could do credit cards over the phone. It bothered me a bit, but overall, they did they job I had asked them to do and haven't had any problems.

Locksmiths Near You

There 10,000 members of the Associated Locksmiths of America - there might be 20,000 more non-associated locksmiths in the United States.

Follow these locksmith hiring tips to get a lock near you changed for the most reasonable price possible:

1. Ask locksmiths near you about their specialties first

There's quite a bit of competition between locksmiths, which means that many people in this trade have a bad habit of never turning down a job. To make sure that a prospective locksmith is actually qualified to do the work you need done, ask them what their specialty is before you disclose the type of project you want to get done. You can ask this tricky question over the phone, but it's often possible to learn about a locksmith's specialty online through reviews.

2. Licensing, insurance and warranties

A reputable locksmith will be licensed in your state, they will be properly insured, and they'll also warranty their work. If a locksmith can't check all of these boxes, work with someone else.

3. Ask other customers near you about their experience

It's easy to find out if a locksmith you're considering working with has a bad reputation. If a locksmith hesitates to provide you with referrals, they might not be worth working with.

4. Focus on locksmiths nearby with many reviews even in emergencies

There are lead generation services for "guys in trucks" who operate without licenses. These services target homeowners and car owners who need locksmiths quickly. These locksmiths who operate out of their home, garage or truck could drastically raise their prices if they note a high-end car or home as the target of their services. Be aware. You almost never need a locksmith at a convenient time, but even if you're in a rush, it pays to take a moment to consider your options.

How much does it cost to re-key a door?

Typically homeowners pay between $50 to $150 for a locksmith to re-key a door. This includes the typical fees - charges per lock can sometimes exceed $25 per lock.

How much does it cost to have a key made?

Between $1 to $20 for special keys - automotive keys with digital components could cost more than $500. Rather than a locksmith, consider contacting your local hardware store.

What services do locksmiths near you provide?

It can depend, but most residential locksmiths provide one or more of the following services:

  • Re-key Cylinders
  • Brands such as Master Lock
  • Safes
  • Vaults
  • New Keys
  • Padlocks
  • Door Knobs
  • Other Hardware
  • Emergency / 24 Hour Service

How much does emergency service in the evening, on a holiday or during the weekend cost?

Emergency or 24 hour services could cost between $140 to $260.
