Holy moly! Where do I begin?! I had been needing my siding replaced for well over a year, and thanks to all my dad's loving nagging and threats that I may have dry rot, a fire was lit under my butt and so began my research. Let me just say that I'm so glad I came across GVD. From my initial request for a quote through to the project close out I was blown away by this company's professionalism, quality of work, communication (I'm huge on communication), friendliness, and customer reviews via yelp, Angie's List, BBB, etc. Andy was the person who came out to do the initial quote and was such a nice person. He took time to explain the various siding options offered as well as pros/cons of each, and even gave me multiple estimates (I was originally thinking of only replacing two of the four sides of the house most is need), but am so happy I decided to do all four! Following the estimates, I needed time to talk it over with my husband, and get some other quotes. During my "contemplation phase" Andy was responsive to all of my questions (and I had a lot), and never once tried to push a sale. When we decided to move forward with the project, everything was smooth sailing, and hassle free since GVD pulled permits with the City on my behalf. Work actually started sooner than anticipated and finished much quicker as well. During the demo/reconstruction the crews arrived on time, worked incredibly hard, and cleaned up after themselves each day. There was always a point person on the crew who I was able to communicate with regarding questions/arrangements for the next day. I was even freaking out because my internet was impacted due to the demolition and the crew actually helped me to move the fiber wire under the new siding so it was protected (and invisible - bonus points!). Every day I'd check on the progress made after the crews had gone home and just stare in utter amazement at how great my house looked. The entire project took just four days to complete! And I realize this is probably not the norm because there were multiple crews helping out on a few days due to some delays on other job sites. The new siding looks better than I ever expected it could or would look. I previously had a cardboard composite type material on the house, and replaced with Hardie Board. GVD also had the added task of installing plywood to my entire house as there wasn't any under the original siding. The installation of the siding, the trim around the windows, doors and garage, and the flashing, and all the attention to the small details literally blew me away. GVD also painted my gutters, eaves, foundation, and downspouts, saving me the trouble of having to find a painter! My dad (the instigator of the entire project) was beyond impressed as well. Having witnessed some really shady contractors and sub-par work in the past, I'm so happy I decided to go with GVD and I'm so grateful for the outstanding work they did on my home. In a nutshell, here are the pros/cons of GVD (related to siding): Pros: Professional Friendly Open/constant communication Financing options Clean Perfectionists Quick Cons: None - no, seriously! I'm so appreciative and thankful for the work GVD did on my home, from my initial consult with Andy, to communications with Victoria and Igor, subsequent walkthroughs/conversations with Vlad, and the incredible work done by Yaro, Vadim, and all of the men on the crew (whose names I didn't catch). My home looks beyond incredible. I hope that I don't need to have my siding redone in the near future, but if there was ever another need, I would not hesitate to go with GVD!

The quoter was knowledgeable of choices for materials and pros and cons of each and what would look good on our house. This was a key factor in choosing ADHW. It took a little longer than planned to get the job started based both on installer availability as well as our schedule, but this was coordinated by the scheduler, we were kept informed and there were no surprises. The construction crew was punctual, showed up every day, cleaned up after themselves and were willing to accommodate some of the special request we had. They even did a couple extra things that were not spelled out in the contract, without any argument. The only suggestion for improvement I have is that there were a number of different parties to deal with: the quoter, the scheduler, the supervising manager for construction, and the on site construction supervisor. It was not always clear to whom I should talk to about what.

They removed old siding. Put in insulation. Then a layer of plywood and a vapor barrier. Then installed the Hardieboard siding which was prepainted. It looks great and no leaks. Took one and a half days. On time, courteous and neat.

Everlast was very responsive throughout the bid process, but they were unwilling to offer beyond a 1 year warranty on their work despite our offer to pay extra for the additional two years of warranty. Therefore we decided to go with a different contractor.

The process went well and even though there were some misunderstandings these guys came through and the job was done well and looks great. Very nice option for those who want something that will last longer than normal paint job. The team was efficient, hard working, and friendly! Highly recommended and will use again if possible.

GVD Renovations replaced the siding on our entire house and did an amazing job! We're still getting compliments to this day. They showed up on the days that they said they were coming to do the work and left each day making sure that the workspace was left completely pristine. Talk about a group of true professionals, they were always willing to work with us and accommodate our requests -- friendly crew, quality work, and just beautiful workmanship. We highly recommend and would definitely work with them again on future home projects.

They were able to fit me into their schedule in a short time. The team of guys were amazing! They assessed the problems with the deck, and got right to work. They discussed all progress with me, showing me exactly what they were doing and what was needed. Best of all - they were creative about designing and building a unique 'privacy fence.' I never would have thought of using the design they came up but I absolutely love it!! The final touch was the beautiful railing. I can't say enough good things about this company.

Great experience with Curt and his crew! We have a 20 year old single family home, and house sidings on one side began to rot since a couple of years ago. This year, a big crack appeared so we decided to replace the siding on one whole wall. We got a few estimates, Curt's estimate was not the lowest, but we were impressed with his knowledge and the service he had to offer. After he matched the bid from another contractor, we happily went with Curt. Looking back, that was a great decision. Curt's crew were FAST! They probably could have done the whole thing in 3 days if it didn't rain for a couple of days. I have seen neighbors doing their sidings a few times, over the years, but nobody was as quick as these guys. The quality was top notch too. The style, color, everything matches perfectly. What really sets Curt apart, from other contractors, is that he goes beyond expectations to earn your satisfaction. He climbed onto the roof, and told us the condition of our roof and in how many years we should take another look and see whether it needs repair. More than a month after the work is done, after the holidays, he called and said he wanted to fix my window better (They had to put some frames on the window from inside the house. We didn't think it looked the best but we were fine with it, and did not expect Curt's call). After the call, his crew came and spent some time on the window. now it looks perfect!! They might not give the most competitive quote, but don't give up, work it out with them. I'm glad I did!! When you get the quality of work they provide, with a reasonably competitive price, you win!!

Very professional and on time. Scheduling was easy. LIked working with the company. But the estimate came through and seemed somewhat very high. I have one estimate to do the entire house in James Hardie siding for 36K + permit costs. The entire house is 2800 Square feet of siding (approx) if I wanted to replace the cedar siding plus the existing siding around the entire house. However the estimate came in for just replacing the cedar shingles which is approximately 1120 square feet. Cost was 31865 for the siding and replacement of the trim on the windows and doors was an additional 2,250. Seemed a bit high. I know its storm season, el nino and is probably very busy, but seems a bit high. Thats 28.45 per square foot.

The workers came promptly at 9:00 and worked through the early evening. They are extremely organized, professional and polite. They wrapped Tyvek around the house, and got the siding almost completed in one day. They know how to work with the John Hardie siding and applied it neatly.

3 Generations Improvements
5.0
From the initial request through to the completion of the work, the entire 3 Generations Improvements team were fantastic. To give some background; after a series of storms (or rather showers) hit San Jose , it became obvious that we would have to take care of the exterior before continuing our interior renovations, water was finding it's way through the window fascias and no matter how much calking was applied, we could stop the leaks. Our property is a 2000 sq/ft townhouse, built in the early 80's and covered in shake shingles that had never been maintained. We invited 3 Generation Improvements to come in and quote us for removing all of the shake shingles and replace them with a composite material (this also included wrapping all exposed wood in an aluminum casing. Additionally, we wanted to replace two sliding doors and four downstairs windows, plus fix some roof issues. Kurt from 3 Generations Improvements came by and explained all the different products they had to offer; together with color samples for each product. For the windows we asked for quotes to match the other windows that we'd previously updated. Kurt walked through the entire house, we explained where the problem areas were and Kurt explained what they could do to fix the problem. Once we had decided on a particular product Jeremy provided renderings of what the house could look like once the product had been applied, this was great as it meant we could visualize the finished project. Since it's impossible to assess how much water and termite damage may lie under the shake shingles the quote was geared towards the worst possible case. This was was good because as the work progressed, it became clear that we had extensive water damage to both the front and rear balcony's. This water damage resulted in a complete rebuild of both balcony's. Even with rebuilding the balcony's the work didn't go above the original quote. The 3 Generations team put in extra hours both during the week and at the weekend to ensure the project stayed on track. We also found that the wall above the garage had started to subside, this required a new header being inserted. The 3 Generations Improvement's crew worked tirelessly from 8am through till 6pm or later. Each day the job site was left tidy and clean. The crew also took time to listen to us and where we wanted to deviate from the original plan they were happy to accommodate our requests. For example, we decided to replace the roof gutters and clad other beams in aluminum to prevent future rot. The quality of the work is excellent; we've received so many great complements on how great our house looks. We gone from the ugly house on the corner to the best house on the block :-) The project went to plan, even with all the additional work that we requested. (Note: The price reported didn't include the roof repairs as these were performed by a third party on the recommendation of 3 Generation Improvements.

I had a great experience from start to finish. Coy came out & gave me a estimate, explained the difference options, explained in detail about why Hardi is the company to go with, and the options between the windows. He also gave me various payment options and of course gave me the Angie's List discount (thank you Angie's List). The workmen arrived on time, with plenty of staff to do the job, and the materials sere delivered. The work was done on time, everyone was very pleasant & helpful, and they cleaned up really well - in fact, it was probably cleaner after they left then when they arrived. The siding located on the side of the house did not need replacement, but will in the future and I will be calling on American Home Renewal again.

Cutting Edge Contracting is AWESOME! I had my Roof, Siding, Painting and Chimney done. They walked me through the repairs they found and told me what it would cost before they did the work. The Sales Reps (Brandon and Israel) came by daily to check on the quality of the work and made sure I was happy. The workmen took care not to damage my garden and cleaned up their mess before they finished each day. Their craftsmanship was excellent! They made my house look like new. I would recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a contractor.

Siding Companies Near You

You don't want to leave siding repair or installation to chance.

There are plenty of professionals in your area who are more than willing to take on the job, but if you don't know how to hire for siding, you might end up with the wrong siding contractor.

1. Ask for Insurance Details

It's not enough to know that your contractor has insurance; you need to see a copy of the insurance policy for yourself. If a contractor accidentally damages your home on the job, their policy will need to be able to cover the repair costs, and the right contractor will also insure against worker injuries to make sure that you don't end up paying worker's compensation.

2. Discuss the Specifics

You'll need to make sure that the siding contractors you like will be able to the job before you go on. Ask how many jobs like yours they've done in the last year.

3. Get a Written Estimate

Shop around when selecting siding contractors, and getting written estimates from each of the companies you're considering can make it easier to choose a winner. When you ask for an estimate, make sure to stipulate that all costs need to be included. Some less-than-reputable contractors will try to hook you with a low estimate and then throw in additional costs, such as parts and labor, once the job is done.
