Having an XML sitemap can be beneficial for SEO, as Google can retrieve essential pages of a website very fast, even if the internal linking of a site isn’t flawless.
The sitemap index and individual sitemaps are updated automatically as you add or remove content and will include the post types you want search engines to index. Post Types marked as noindex will not appear in the sitemap. Learn more about XML Sitemaps.

5. Copy the meta tag.
6. Log in to your WordPress website.
7. Click on ‘SEO’ in the dashboard.

10. Paste the code in the Google field and click ‘Save Changes’.
11. Go back to Google Search Console and click ‘Verify’.

The steps below are a temporary solution as manual edits made to theme files may be overwritten with future theme updates. Please contact the theme developer for a permanent solution. We’ve written an article about the importance of breadcrumbs for SEO.

To implement the breadcrumbs function in Yoast SEO, you will have to edit your theme. We recommend that prior to any editing of the theme files, a backup is taken. Your host provider can help you take a backup.
Copy the following code into your theme where you want the breadcrumbs to be. If you are not sure, you will need to experiment with placement:

Common places where you could place your breadcrumbs are inside your single.php and/or page.php file just above the page’s title. Another option that makes it really easy in some themes is by just pasting the code in header.php at the very end.

In most non-WooTheme themes, this code snippet should not be added to your functions.php file.
Alternatively, you can manually add the breadcrumb shortcode to individual posts or pages: [wpseo_breadcrumb]

How do I noindex URLS?

Yoast SEO provides multiple options for setting a URL or group of URLs to noindex. Read more about how to do this in this guide.

Don’t Commit to Premium

I had Yoast Premium (paid. Licensed) running on multiple sites and a conflict with another plug-in created a massive error (log) file that took down my entire hosting platform - multiple times - and was 100 percent attributed to the Yoast plug-in. ..we are talking 100 gig log files that built up in a week. Repeatedly. Contacted yoast multiple times and they dragged their feet for weeks pretending to diagnose when my hosting company gave me the log files and the error Messages - should have been easy to make progress in troubleshooting but days would go by. Eventually I had to remove all instances of yoast premium on all my sites and ask for a refund because they didn’t seem to want to be bothered helping me troubleshoot in a timely fashion. So warning - check those error logs. You might be surprised to see a storage vampire. Were it one site it could be chalked up to a bug but it happened on multiple sites running Yoast premium. Stick to free. I moved to Rank Math. I guess #1 SEO plug-in means it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t work as long as they get paid. I did receive a pro rated refund for time not used which had zero impact because I had to delete everything. Don’t do it. Look elsewhere or stick to free.

Support Means You Fix It, Not Them

I recommend you avoid Yoast. It is broken, and they will ask you to fix it. It drops support. It blocks Google search. And according to Yoast, everything is either your fault or your responsibility to fix. Perhaps after the program matures, it will be worthwhile. I asked for a prorated refund, and, instead, they just canceled the subscription and said they offered no prorated refunds. I explained they my cancellation was based on receiving a prorated refund, so they should reinstate my subscription. However, they failed to act and ignored me—good luck dealing with them.

Annoying notifications, aggressive marketing, output = NULL

No other plugins has sent me this number of notifications as I have received in the last few days from Yoast. You shouldn't be ALLOWED to do that with our sites. It is aggressive, unwanted, repeating interference with my site. Since when WordPress allows that kind of agressive marketing ON OUR SITES for some plugin? You won't get anywhere like this. Expecting a fix and a honest apology for ruining my WordPress experience.
