Q: Do people actually go? Can I go alone?
A: Yes they do! Yes you can! This meetup is organized and all about making friends
Q: Why is there an event fee? Aren't Meetups free?
A: Actually, Meetup Organizers pay a subscription to Meetup to make these events! It's up to them if they charge for events. For our events we have website costs, supply costs (name tags, signs, raffle prizes), marketing costs (promoting the group), & travel costs in researching new places for our group. So, sometimes we charge a lil' something to cover these costs.
Q: Is it really alot of work to make these events happen?
A: It's a sh#t ton of work to make these events happen!
Q: Is the attendee RSVP list accurate? Will X number of people really go to the event?
A: We invite people directly to the event and ask people to honor their RSVP! Most cases we have a large group always attending our events.
Q: Why drink minimums?
A: If we find a nice place for an event, they want $1,000+ minimum to reserve the space AHEAD OF TIME! That's crazy! So, we negotiate exclusive drink specials and space usage in good faith that we will be GREAT guests and support the venue (and tip the staff nicely!) instead.
