I got his name from the upholstery fabric store where I had purchased the fabric for the work. He arrived within one day, inspected the three items, made an estimate for labor and materials, did the work within three weeks. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding. He was knowledgeable and very gracious.

I was not totally satisfied. They made good on fixing it but the attitude was more less that we were being picky. The cushions were done totally different than we had contracted for. The owner was quite aggressive and the store is a mess itself and I guess upholstery stores tend to be that way because they have a lot of fabrics so I am not finding fault with that but it was not what we had expected. They were not professional. It was a couch that had been very expensive initially and had been upholstered in a very nice fabric, wood rounded corners and they brought cushions back to see cushions were just 90 degree sharp corners. So I felt that was not what we wanted and they had changed it very drastically so they said we can fix that. So they did take the cushions but it was with a certain amount of reluctancy and the lady told me this is the very latest type of cushions and I have them throughout my home and it was why was I questioning their taste. But I said your taste may be one thing but I have been in the upholstery business for long enough to know that different people have different tastes. And we wandered around and after we had gotten back it was a very professional job done and they did do but just the remark like, mine is the real latest did not really settle very well with me. And we have down pillows in the back and in the poor fabrics those little feathers pop through and our original fabric it had taken 19 years for them to pop through and they are popping through now. And I asked her about that and it is not enough to make any difference now but the couch is less than a month back here and she said well we put the deck on it to stop that but those were your original cushions so in other words what could I expect. So there are just little things like that, I wouldn't say they were bad but they did not set well with us. They responded majorly for the cushions and took them back but it was all done reluctantly and you have a feeling like why are you satisfied. They were very prompt and they gave us a very realistic window of when we would get it back and it got back and the delivery man was very nice. He had told me that I didn't have to pay until the next day and I wanted frankly to take a look at it. And the delivery man being very conscience said I was told to get a visa now and I phoned her and she said yes please pay him now whereas originally she had given me 24 hours to take a look so just little things like that. They were very fairy. They showed me books with certain price ranges and I could have gone up the step with the fabric and they were also very straight forward and informational about the different blends.

We had been given AAA Upholstery as a recomendation. I went down to the very funky little shop in an alley in San Rafael and was a bit turned off at first because of the actual space itself. However, the owner came out and was very friendly and very knowledgable. He gave me fabric sample books to take home no problem. I picked a fabric and he said he would need to charge $90/yard (discounted from $120). I then went online and found the same fabric for $41/yard. The owner was not at all upset that I had gone online and offered to pick up the sofa and fabric from me that day. The sofa was done within a week and it looks amazing! I would absoluely use AAA Upholstery again. Don't let the space fool you!

I DROPPED MY COUCH OFF TO BE RE-UPHOLSTERED NEARLY THREE MONTHS AGO AND STILL HAVE NOT HEARD ANY WORD FROM THEM. THEY HAD INITIALLY ESTIMATED THAT THE UPHOLSTERING WOULD ONLY TAKE AROUND THREE WEEKS. I'VE WORKED WITH OTHER UPHOLSTERY BUSINESSES AND GRENARD'S UPHOLSTERY PALES IN COMPARISON. THE LAST COUCH I SENT OFF TO BE RE-UPHOLSTERED ONLY TOOK THREE WEEKS AT THE OTHER BUSINESS. I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM GRENARD'S.

They were very nice. We didn't realize how much upholstery can be and we might have done it but we decided to go another route. It was a very professional place. They have a ton of fabric samples and it was very homey and comfortable.

Aby's did a great job, and I would return there. It's not a fancy shop, but the quality was excellent. And it's nice to see a woman-run business succeed. Communication was excellent back and forth on some details. And she was fast. The price included the upholstery fabric and labor.

Owner, Lothar Weiler cares about his business. I cant thank him and his crew for the work they did. they not only lined up the pattern nicely, but also know how to cut fabric so that we can minimize wastes. To accomplish such, it requires mindfulness and effort and not only focusing on profit from project. i will secure services from Mr. Weiler again, without a doubt. Each time I walk into my living room, i am just happy because i enjoy the new upholstery . I added additional work and all were done timely.

Lothar is an excellent upholsterer. Good upholstery shops are hard to find and we were glad that we were able to find Lothar and his team. Lothar made a customized bay window seat cushion along with seat cushions for living/dining room chairs for us. Lothar has a wide variety of fabric to select from and provided good feedback on pros and cons of each. We were able to select the right fabric and color to match our room. We also had 4 cushions made for the bay window. All of the cushions were excellent. Our bay window seat cushion was a challenge due to its size but it was built perfect and when we had few adjustments to be made, they were done with a smile. In all, we were extremely satisfied with the work and in addition the prices were very reasonable. We would recommend Lothar and would not hesitate to get our upholstery work done from him in the future.

They did a good job on the Sofa and I did not have to buy anything. They were very responsive. Once they called me to say that they will be 15 minutes late, as they were stuck in traffic. They were very efficient. They had to open the sofa, cut the fabric, retie the springs and put it all back. They did an amazing job. I will definitely use them in the future and I recommend them to others.

My wife and I discovered Band D Upholstery on Yelp. Lothar is the owner. They are open M-F 7am to 3pm and Sat to 12 pm. We visted his shop on a Sat and went over his wide variety of fabric. Plan on spending a few hours. We took a couple of sample books home to make sure we liked the colors and it matched our decor. We picked the fabric and ordered it. When the fabric came in, they picked up our sofa and chair as promised. The sofa and chair was delivered timely this morning and it is better than new. The craftsmenship was excellent. The colored patterns on the material including the stripes matched perfectly, including on the cushions. Lothar, the owner, is a very friendly, talented, smart and an honest person. He is a craftsmen and works very hard at his trade. It is very difficult to find someone like him these days.

The first fabric I chose was on back order for months. Sterling found a good match within a couple of days and I had the chairs back within three weeks of my initial call. They also picked up and delivered the chairs for no extra charge, even though I live 20 miles from their storefront. (Sweet!) These chairs were favored reading chairs and I was concerned that they might not be as comfortable after reupholstering. Thankfully that didn't stop me- the chairs are now beautiful and comfortable and have retained their favorite chair status. I wholeheartedly recommend Sterling and will definitely use them again.

R upholstery diid a great job on our chair. They had a good selection of fabrics at all price ranges. Having shopped around a bit, I can say that prices are reasonable. He had good advice about the pros and cons of different options. The final product was excellent and the chair looks great. He delivered it back to our house for free.

We brought two leather chair cushions into Morales Upholstery for reupholstering. The chairs had leather seats and backs, with wood frames. The leather on one of the seat cushions was torn, so we wanted to replace both seats, but leave the leather on the backs. The woman in the front office explained that it would be expensive to use leather, as we would have to buy an entire piece of leather, even though we only needed a couple of yard for the cushions. After looking at a variety of leather, faux leather, and fabric samples, and getting various estimates, we ended up going with fabric. The chairs turned out beautifully, and the cost was $240 for both chairs: less than the estimate.

Went to their shop and browsed through their large selection of fabric samples, selected fabric, and made arrangements to have one of the fabrics, upon owner recommendation, fabric had loose weave, be sent to LA for special backing attached. Pickup and delivery was extra but well worth the cost. Entire project from fabric selection, fabric to final delivery to approximately 5 weeks.

On both occasions, MY personal experience with this company was excellent and I remain an EXTREMELY SATISFIED customer. Based on my two excellent experiences, I recommended this company to two close friends -- one friend needed a new slip cover for her rocking chair and the other friend needed four chairs reupholstered. In both cases, the company failed to fully meet expectations. The owner admitted to my one friend (after SEVERAL weeks, one slipcover that was improperly stitched and another that did not fit the chair, unreturned phone calls and many excuses) that slipcovers really were not their forte...yet they accepted this job in the first place. The company did issue a full refund upon demand. For the second referral, (I attached a strong "caveat emptor" to this referral), Venezia Upholstery accepted the commission of reupholstering two parsons chairs and two cushioned barrel chairs. The parsons chairs were done perfectly, on time, and they look fabulous! However, one of the barrel chair seat cushions was not done properly, and visibly so. The owner initially convinced my friend that in time the cushion would stretch out to fit into the seat well of the chair as it should. After two days she decided it wasn't going to stretch out and that it needed to be redone. The owner took both chairs back (early August 2010). Nearly three weeks have gone by and despite promising that the misshapen cushion would be redone and delivered by the end of the week of August 20th, my friend still does not have her chairs. Based on the experiences of my friends, I can no longer recommend this company to others. If only my friends had received the same consistent and excellent service that I received, my report would have been resoundingly positive.

My 85 year old Dad was looking for a comfortable chair to replace his favorite 30 year old chair. The chair was a quality piece of furniture that had withstood 30+ years of regular use. We had been looking for a new chair and couldn't find anything even close in comfort or quality. We wondered if re-upholstery would be an affordable option and turned to Angie's list. We contact 2 businesses and Sterling Upholstery far surpassed our expectations.We were greeted by Michelle and promptly became aware of her exceptional knowledge of her business and furniture in general. Michelle listened to what we needed and guided us to a variety of fabric samples. She was very knowledgeable about the types and qualities of the fabrics and easily pulled out samples that met our quality, durability and price point.We took several sample books home for several days and selected a fabric. We called Sterling to tell them we were ready to go and they arranged to pick up the chair the following Monday. We were told the fabric was in stock and the job would take about 3 weeks.When we contacted them at three weeks they said the project would take another week; they said we had been told 3-4 weeks. That was our only disappointment; everything else went very well. The chair was delivered the following week at the specified time and it looked beautiful.A week later my dad determined that the back cushion did not have the proper cushioning. When he contacted Michelle the discussion when very well a pick up of the chair was scheduled. It was very clear that the goal of Sterling is quality work and exceptional customer service- which the many Angie's List awards on their walls confirm.The company promptly made the necessary adjustments and delivered the chair a week later and so far it seems to be perfect.Not only were we pleased with the knowledge and customer service of Sterling's principals Michelle and Dave, we were very impressed by the courtesy and timeliness of the delivery team. Their attention and genuine desire to ensure the customer was satisfied was very apparent and reflected the overall high quality of the company and our experience. The chair was returned 1 week later- and after several weeks of regular use- my dad is pleased with the results.

They were very competent and did exactly what they said they would. They are real-world in their pricing and are not trying to get rich off of every new job. They were great and so was their price. I didn't dislike anything about them.

Very flexible to work with. For both the pickup and drop off of the furniture, they were very courteous and on time. They were very helpful in picking out fabrics. The upholstery work looks terrific. I will definitely use Sterling for my future upholstery needs.

Te entire experience was excellent. Their fabric selections are extensive but they will also use fabric you purchase directly and send to them. The workmanship was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend them.
