Fun Things to Do in San Antonio for December 2021

Explore San Antonio by checking out the local food scene, attending a doggy holiday parade, and more with a Meetup group.

San Antonio

Located along the San Antonio River, San Antonio is a major metropolitan area and the second most populous city in Texas. A former Spanish colony, San Antonio is also known for its unique blend of Mexican and Texan culture, 18th century architecture, and its role in the famous Battle of the Alamo. Whether you’re into food, sports, or just plain fun, join Meetup to discover the place fondly known as “Alamo City.”

No matter what your interests are, you don’t have to do them alone in San Antonio. Check out the following Meetup events happening in San Antonio during December 2021, and find something to do today!

Savor the best of local Italian fare

Are you a newcomer to Alamo City? The Friends & Connections San Antonio Meetup welcomes newly arrived San Antonians who want to develop a network of friends, have fun, and help others do the same. The group invites singles, couples, and married partners to join monthly activities ranging from happy hours to paint nights to wine tastings and more.

On Saturday, December 4, enjoy a delicious lunch with Friends & Connections San Antonio at Sorrento’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria. Billing itself as the “best Italian food in San Antonio,” join this Meetup group for good conversation and an easy-going atmosphere while munching on tasty pasta, pizza, and other Italian fare. After lunch, tag along with the group for more fun at the British pub The Winchester.

Gather at a monthly Meetup event for people with autism

Launched in 2012, the San Antonio Area Adults with Autism Meetup group was created to provide a safe space for semi-independent adults with autism and Asperger’s syndrome. The group organizes in-person and virtual activities that help members navigate life experiences and form friendships.

On Sunday, December 5, San Antonio Area Adults with Autism will hold its monthly Meetup event at the Olive Garden. Members will have a chance to introduce themselves, socialize, and sit down for an early dinner with fellow participants. Don’t forget to RSVP by December 2 to save your spot!

Get festive with dog owners at the San Antonio Botanical Garden

Participate in recreational activities and discover the great San Antonian outdoors with man’s best friend with The San Antonio Nature Hounds Meetup event. Though the group focuses primarily on dog-related activities, you don’t have to be a dog owner to join. With over 5,000 members, this Meetup group provides a wide range of walking activities, as well as camping, kayaking, dog training, and more, throughout San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country.

On Sunday, December 5, take a trip with The San Antonio Nature Hounds to the beautiful San Antonio Botanical Garden to watch the Deck the Paws parade. There will be a doggy dress-up contest for the best dog and owner costumes, and vendors and food trucks will be open for bites and treats. If you plan to bring your furry friend, make sure to bring leashes no longer than six feet.

Dress up and skate into the holidays

Do you enjoy inline skating? Then join the San Antonio Inline Skating Meetup group, a community  of inline skaters of all comfort levels. Whether you prefer inline or quad skates, skaters are invited to join the group for recreational fitness in parks, trails, streets, and other locations throughout the San Antonio area.

Break out your ugly holiday sweater for the Inline Skating Meetup group’s Holiday Costume Skate on Sunday, December 12. The group will start skating from Brack Park into the Pearl, then head downtown to The Alamo and the Tower of the Americas. Wear bells, lights, and any other festive attire you fancy to get into the holiday mood and the skater’s groove.

Don’t see any activities that speak to you?

Don’t worry. There are so many fun things to do in San Antonio, it would be impossible to capture them all on one list. If there’s an activity you’d love to do in San Antonio but you can’t find an event for it, you can easily create your own Meetup group and host your own event!
