Nashville is one of the most culturally stimulating places in America. With a long history of musical genius and fandom, plus the lush backdrop of Tennessee’s rivers and prairies, Nashville offers something for everyone. Whether you’re new in town or a long-time local, you can discover tons of fun things to do in Nashville, like taking a yoga class at a fitness-oriented boutique hotel or playing Settlers of Catan at the city’s first-ever board game café.

With Meetup, you never have to do fun things alone. Check out the following Meetup events happening around Nashville during the month of December 2021, and have a great time with new friends!

Join a Christmas crawl of the best bars along Broadway

On Saturday, December 11, Broadway will be taken over by Santas, elves, reindeer, and other festive costumes donned by VolunTold in Nashville. This Meetup group of more than 200 members will start at HQ Beercade Nashville, steps away from the Cumberland River, and work their way down Broadway enjoying special drink deals at participating bars along the route.

Also Christmas crawling iconic Broadway bars on the same day will be the Lucille Ballers (Girls 40+), who’ll start their route at Kung Fu Saloon on the opposite end near Vanderbilt University. This Meetup group of more than 100 members will put on their most outrageous costumes and let the holiday spirit guide through the Santa-rific streets.

Take a Kundalini Yoga and Meditation class in a boutique hotel

Start your weekend with an uplifting blend of spiritual and physical practices on the morning of Saturday, December 18 at BentoLiving Chestnut Hill. This chic hotel in the artistic and culturally rich Wedgewood Houston neighborhood provides an oasis of calm through its mindful approach to design, lush greenery, and many onsite fitness classes.

Join Kundalini Yoga & Meditation Classes, a Meetup group with nearly 300 members, as they build physical vitality and increase consciousness through movements, dynamic breathing techniques, meditation, and the chanting of mantras.  If you’re looking for a steady source of exercise and connection, this Meetup group gathers every week on Saturday.

Cut loose with some Saturday night swing or salsa

Stately brick mansions and lots of greenery are what you’ll find in the well-to-do neighborhood of Brentwood. A 15-minute drive from downtown Nashville, Brentwood’s Otter Creek Church is not just a spiritual center, but a communal space that hosts some of the area’s most popular events.

On Saturday, December 18, the beloved Saturday night swing dance will make its monthly return to Otter Creek’s gymnasium. People of all ages and stages are welcome to join, even those who’ve never danced before. Beginner and intermediate swing lessons will be offered for free before open floor dancing later in the evening. Check out this fun, non-competitive dance hosted by Otter Creek Swing Dancing, a Meetup group with 550 members.

If swing isn’t your thing, or you’re looking to branch out into other dance styles, you could also join Salsa Nashville for a Bachata party at the Global Education Center in West Nashville. On Saturday, December 11, this Meetup group with over 4,800 dancers of all skill levels and backgrounds will dance the night away at their fourth annual Glitter & Gold Party.

Network with fellow web devs over some authentic Southern barbeque

If you’re willing to drive 20 minutes south of downtown, Moe’s Original BBQ is an excellent spot for Alabama-style pulled pork and other meats smoked in-house. This laid-back atmosphere with finger-lickin’ good eats is where Nashville PHP will host its monthly networking lunch on Tuesday, December 7

This Meetup group has nearly 1,600 web developers and programmers working in the Nashville metro area. They welcome people of all skill levels to come learn together and make valuable industry connections. Come chat about how learning PHP (a general-purpose scripting language used to develop dynamic and interactive websites) can help further your career.

Play Settlers of Catan at a board game café on the East End

Game Point Café is both the first indie coffeehouse in East Nashville and the city’s first board game café. Their curated game library includes the finest mix of classic family, modern strategy, and silly party games. It’s easy to see why this café is a favorite haunt of the Nashville Catan Meetup’s nearly 750 members. Join them on Sunday, December 5 for some relaxing afternoon drinks and games.

Don’t see any activities that speak to you?

Don’t worry. There are so many fun things to do in Nashville, it would be impossible to capture them all on one list. If there’s an activity you’d love to do in Nashville but you can’t find an event for it, you can easily create your own Meetup group and host your own event!
