Nick Lambdin Masonry

Once the color for the grout was determined and used on the flagstone, it looks better. Probably the grout color should have been mixed and used when the repair work was done, however, it was not and they had to add additional color to the repaired grout work. They repaired several rock pillars along my walk. They did a nice job. They have scheduled the date to seal them. I believe when they pressure washed the flagstones, they could have done a better cleaning job. Several of the stones look too dirty. The team is easy and pleasant to work with. I had difficulty with their punctuality, as I had set times for them to be at my home and they did not show up or call me. I had to rearrange my schedule a couple of times and then I could not get a hold of the owner , as his voicemail was full. However, I would hire them again. I would be more clear with my directions for what I want done.

Great! It was a big job which took 2-3 days as I recall. We had it done about 3-4 years ago but I forgot to submit a review at that time. Nick did fine work at a reasonable price. The fireplace still looks magnificent and we've gotten several compliments over the years.

The job went very well. Nick communicated very well from the estimate to finished product. He needed to match bricks, break down part of the brick column, put in the mailbox and rebuild the column. It looks like it's always been there and now I have a secure, locking mailbox.

The excellent results out weighed the lack of punctuality. Very nice people and respectful of interior and exterior of home. Thanks Nick!

Nick was extremely knowledgeable and went to great lengths to ensure the brick repairs matched the original brick work. He also took time to suggest simple maintenance work which would prevent damage from wet weather. We are extremely pleased with the quality of work and professionalism. He is highly recommended.

I never hired him because he wouldn't respond. Initially I called him and he said to send him pictures of my fireplace and a description of what I needed done. He said that he would then give me an estimate instead of coming to my house to give the estimate. He never responded. I called him a week later and he said that he would call me that night. He never did......

Nicks team did a supper job. We had a design we wanted to be made out of used brick which also had to match old brick on an existing nearby wall. That was the tough part, but Nick hunted the exact match down for us. We are extremely happy.

Appreciated Nick was willing to do this small repair job (he usually refaces entire fireplaces). We offered to wait until he had something else in the neighborhood; but he fit us in in less than 2 weeks. Thought about doing it ourselves but after researching it, we realized it was smarter to let someone with the right tools and expertise do it. And we chose Nick based on the other reviews. Happy with his work and the floor-to-ceiling plastic tent around the fireplace wall contained the old mortar dust beautifully.

Nick provided an estimate of what everything would cost dependent on which materials I would choose. He took me to two stone yards to pick the best materials for the job. As soon as I saw the fake stones, I knew that I wanted real stacked stones. We went through several stacks to pick the stones I liked best. He then provided me with an accurate invoice of the time it would take to build the fireplace and the final price. The work started on time and became a wonderful work of art. He worked with me to design something that our family would love, and we do love it! The quality of work is something you would see in an architectural magazine. It creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere to share with family and friends. We will definitely be working with him again and highly recommend his work.

The whole project went very smoothly

I chose Nick after seeing photographs of his work and reading his reviews on Angie's List. The photographs were important because they showed quality work and attention to detail which it seems to me you really want in masonry because it lasts so long. Also, when I talked to Nick on the phone he credibly expressed that he loves his work. From my own experience in life I have seen that people who love their work are 1) likely to be good at it, and 2) likely to see themselves in their work and reluctant to allow themselves to do less than top quality work. Before Nick began I thought it was highly probable that he would do quality work. That turned out to be an accurate prediction. When you look carefully at the brick work on my porch now you see craftsmanship and attention to detail everywhere. When you first look at the porch from across the street it appears to be beautiful, and when you get closer and focus on small areas you see that the first appearance of quality doesn't disappear, but becomes more impressive for remaining in the details. Many of us have had the experience of thinking everything is OK when we first look at something, but being disappointed when we look more closely. There was none of that with NIck's work on my front porch. I really got what I wanted. It took 16 days from start to finish for Nick, his apprentice and his helper to complete my porch. Considering that there were several days of rain in that period, during which they could not work, I was satisfied with their progress and that they completed the work when they did. I observed up close how much hard work goes into quality masonry. Nick also worked with me picking out a color of brick for my porch, and I was surprised to see how many nice options are available. Also Nick suggested using a certain type of brick for the top pieces of the porch. I went with the suggestion, and am very glad I did.

Nick did an excellent job with my project! He totally transformed my ugly duckling wall into a sophisticated wall of stone and a chunky reclaimed mantel. At the beginning of my project, Nick met with me and my interior designer to plan to best approach for the project. He even met me at the stone yard and went through two full crates of 20x20" (heavy!) stone, pulling each one out, to let me pick the best ones. He brought his technical and artistic expertise to the project and worked great with my team. Nick and his helper, Nate, were very nice and polite to work with. They were very interested in making sure I was happy with the process and end product -- and I am! I would definitely hire Nick to do more masonry at my house.

. Nick was very punctual about returning calls and showing up to look at our fireplace. We thought his estimate was very reasonable and hired him. We met him at the stone yard to select the stone we wanted. He also found us a lower cost option for a wood mantle, which we appreciated. We agreed that he would pick up the mantle to distress it and stain it, but when he called shortly after he didn't remember the conversation, so we took care of the mantle ourselves. Nick and his team showed up early on the first day and worked diligently for three days. They did a good job cleaning up the mess outside and inside. The work on our fireplace was fantastic - he is a true craftsman and it shows. He (and Nate) did a great job selecting the stone colors and arranging them (as we had discussed). We are thrilled with our fireplace. Nick is very good at his job, but not so much with the business side - we never got a written estimate nor did we receive an invoice when the job was completed, even though I asked for one. If you can overlook these things, I would recommend him.

I SPOKE WITH HIM AND HE MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 11:00 ON SATURDAY. HE NEVER CALLED. HE NEVER SHOWED UP. I FEEL THIS IS UNPROFESSIONAL ESPECIALLY WHEN I SET ASIDE TIME FOR HIM ON A SATURDAY...

I contacted Nick via Angie's list site to see if he services San Francisco He replied timely and stated he comes to SF depending on the work needed. My husband continued to make other calls and after further discussion worked out a deal with Nick to come to SF. Pictures of the work needed were sent via email and dates arranged. Nick did the work over this past weekend. He's a young hardworking, HONEST man. Our estimate was actually a bit hire, but when Nick assessed the actual work that needed to be done, he informed me of a lesser option! His co-worker Nate also hardworking. Thank you Nick and Nate.

Nick was very responsive to come over and give a quote. He gave a fair price and lent a lot of knowledge about the condition of my two brick stacks. Two days later, right on time, he repaired my rear chimney. In his own words, a neat and clean job. Great communication, fast work, and all you'd ask for from a tradesman. Highly recommended. I tried on three different occasions to contact Nick, but after each successful contact he never called back. It seems like he does really good work, but how do you get him to return your calls???
