Two large oak trees fell over in a storm. They needed to be cut up and chipped. The work was done efficiently and exactly as I asked. Great service.

Paul is an excellent guy who understands and cares for trees, the politics around trees and how to get things done in the real world. He’s also not afraid to get out there and do what needs to be done.

They did everything they said they would do and worked with me to determine what needed to be pruned to open up our view without cutting too much. They then chipped all the cuttings and placed them where I asked so I could reuse the chips in my landscaping.

I called to get estimates, they came out right on time and spent almost an hour, gave good advise and a good estimate. They then offered to deliver free wood chips to mulch with and keep the trees from drying out. They delivered the chips for free within a few days.

The experience was good from the first call to the completed project. All employees were very nice and easy to communicate with. The estimator was experienced and it showed. The actual workers who came out to do the job were very nice, came a little early and said they would wait to start if it was an inconvenience, but it was fine so the job got done earlier. The job was completed in a short time and my husband and I are very satisfied with our experience with this company. WeI will hire them again.

Fast and clean. The tree was cut down and chipped, with the roots ground down all within 2 1/2 hrs. The site was left clean and tidy.

Very professional job. When grinding the stumps they took great care to keep flying wood chips off of my patio.

This arborist provided excellent service right from the bidding process, documentation and execution. They hauled the cut tree up a steep slope, chipped the parts that could be chipped and disposed of the larger pieces properly cleaning up after themselves. The crew was professional and knew what they were doing as the tree was very close to the house. I highly recommend this arborist for any job you are considering.

Woke up to tree toppled over onto driveway, covering our auto. Determined tree service help needed. Checked Angie's List. Found Aly's with great ratings AND was close to us. Called, Aly answered, was able to come by that morning for estimate. (With a storm the night before, they were plenty busy!) Agreed to the service and price, and a crew was here within another hour or so. Using chain saws, etc, they removed the (now horizontal) tree, (including to carefully lift it off the car) chipped it into mulch, ground out the stump, swept the entire area, and even hosed off my (now uncovered) car. After commiserating with me about the extent of car damage from the fallen tree, they left the area very clean and neat. (Car suffered only hood damage.) Were extremely professional. Note, the local TV crew was also here recording every step of the Great Tree Disaster and Recovery!!

They came on time, worked as a team (4 men), were professional, and completed the work in stated time.

When the actual work was done it was completed quickly, and the crew was very clean and left the yard in good shape. However, the communication and coordination for the work could have been WAY better. I called to get an estimate after purchasing two coupons for this company through Angie's List. I was told someone would be there that day. No one showed up. Called two more times requesting the quote. Received no response but quote was left the next day. I then called to schedule the work, leaving a message. No call back, called again and was told they were trying to schedule the work that day. OK great, but some notice would have been nice! The tree was removed that day, but the stump was not. I called to ask about this, and it took two more calls to get the stump ground. I finally got a response after the second call and was told it was being done that day and that the wood chips would be left. The crew called to ask where to leave the chips (despite me leaving that information with the office twice), so I at least knew the work had been done. I had told the office I had two coupons to apply to the bill, received bill and only one coupon was applied. Overall the actual work that was done was very good, but the communication and overall coordination was awful. If it had not been for the two coupons I had already purchased I would not have used this company. I can understand if they were busier than normal due to the coupon offer, but communicate that and keep the customer informed about when the work is scheduled!

Gary is a great guy to do business with. He is prompt, hires reliable workers and does what he says he is going to do at the price he promised. I was very nervous about having someone trim my two very large, very old liquid amber trees since PG&E nearly destroyed them recently while topping them away from power lines. Gary and his capable guys trimmed, shaped and thinned them and they look great! They cleaned up and left everything just as they found it. I highly recommend Gary to care for your trees! I had to wait awhile for Gary, but it was worth the wait.

Though they did not have a bucket truck, they used 2-3 climbers and accomplished dead limb removal as requested. They chipped up the limbs and cleaned up very well.

This is a busy season for Johnson Tree Service, so it took a while to schedule our work. But they arrived early on the scheduled day, a crew of 3 worked all day on the projects, cleaned up the yard when they were done, and chipped a virtual mountain of tree branches and limbs, nearly filling their truck with the chips. Henry Vargas, the Sales Project Manager for the crew, was here several times during the day to make sure that the work being done was what we had agreed on. He was a pleasure to work with. Overall I was very pleased with Johnson Tree Service, and I'd definitely use them again.

Henry Vargas came out 12/28/2010 to do an estimate. He was extremely friendly and professional. He quoted a very reasonable price, and then knocked an additional 10% off when I showed him the Angie's List coupon. The crew came out the next day, at the time promised. They were done with the work in about a half hour. Henry then walked me through what had been done. After they left I went online and paid at their web site using my credit card. Very convenient. All in all, a very pleasant experience.

They did a very beautiful job with the sycamore! It was a work of art. They were very careful in removing large branches that could have caused a lot of damage to our house and power lines. Clean up was very good, but they left a few too many wood chips to compost.

They were on time and did all the service quickly and cleaned up completely. The arborist was on the job site all the time. The workers were polite, we could not have been happier. Even the office person was helpful and called the owner when I had a question and got right back to me.

They did very well for us. We've used them several times and have recommended them to folks who have been very satisfied, as well.

Radek came to my house and walked my property with me. He showed me how he would prune my trees without butchering them. He gave me an estimate, and we set a date. He told me he would not come if it was raining. Not only was he concerned about safety, but he explained that no one did as good a job working in the rain as that person would do in the sunshine. No rain so he came at the agreed upon time. He and his team worked continuously until it started to get dark. He did not quite finish the work. He gave me a date when he would return. I offered to pay him some of what I owed him, but he told me to wait until the job was completely finished. He returned in two weeks to finish the job. I was surprised how much more he pruned backed the trees. I am very happy with how the trees look.

Played phone tag with the estimator Rich Fordfor a week. He called several times close to 10 pm at night which we were not too happy with since we have a toddler. It was great that he came over on a Sat to do an estimate, but the appt was a 10 am and at 10:30 he still had not arrived. I called and he said he was running late and would be there in 15 minutes later. He finally showed up at 11:30 apologizing. He was older and said he was exhausted from working in the heat the day before. His bid was half of what another bid we got from another tree service and he seemed professional and honest beside the lateness so we went with him. We scheduled work for the Wed following at 8 am. Hans the owner rang our doorbell at 7:30am! He wanted to check out the place and then his crew arrived at 8am as scheduled. The 3 crew members worked hard from 8 to 2 pm. They had to use the neighbors yard to haul out the trees and cleaned up very well. Our only lesson learned- we asked to keep some of the wood chips. Since the truck came half full and Hans was only staying for a few hours he emptied woodchips from another job in our driveway instead of ours (had some ivy and a lot of greens) and way too much! We should have talked to the crew and gotten our chipped trees and one tenth of what was left. Our fault- lesson learned!
