    So, definitely solves the same problems boilerplates solve. What I'm most excited about is the API and CLI that does things like adding blocks or other features as well as stubbing tests. The next step after that for is finishing up the packaging features.

    I started there with , which was cool, but didn't solve all of my problems for developing plugins. What about: 1. Adding new features to the plugin? 2. Writing, running and maintaining tests? 3. Packaging the plugin for release and delivering it?

    Common approaches for boilerplate generally look like this: 1. Copy the last project. 2. Maintain a separate boilerplate repo 3. Create a CLI script or website for generating a start point from boilerplate repo. All of these approaches help you start a project and that's it.

    Good chat today about plugin boilerplates. I've spent a bit of time talking with a bunch of WordPress developers about how they manage boilerplate for sites, plugins and themes. What I found was boilerplates are useful, but enough.

    It was great to have on this month to talk about plugin boilerplates and the new stuff brings to the table! Also, if anyone wants to make Plugin Machine a Clippy , Josh seemed pretty receptive to the idea. 😉
