Synopsis
Plot details are unknown. This is the third chapter in the Jurassic World trilogy.
The franchise began in 1993 with Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park, based on the novel of the same name by Michael Crichton. It was a huge critical and commercial success, breaking box office records at the time. Two sequels, The Lost World and Jurassic Park III, followed in 1997 and 2001, respectively, but saw diminishing returns. After the third one was the lowest-grossing entry in the series, the property was put on ice while a fourth installment lingered in development.
Fifteen years later, the first Jurassic World opened and reignited interest in the brand, setting a new opening-weekend box office record. Grossing $1.6 billion, Universal was quick to green light a sequel, Fallen Kingdom, which was released in the summer of 2018. It has long been said the filmmakers envisioned Jurassic World as a trilogy.
