There are a handful of options for those who want to get into the AR or VR space. The popular ones include the Oculus Quests and HTC's VIVE line of VR headsets. However, there are not a lot of players in the Mixed Reality space, and a significant amount of the available ones, such as the Microsoft HoloLens, are targeted at professionals.

The Nreal Light is confirmed to be coming to the U.S. this month. George Koroneos (@GLKCreative) made the announcement on Twitter, and he disclosed that the glasses would be available in select stores on November 30. Those who want to purchase it online will be able to do so beginning on December 2. The Verge reports that the glasses will cost $599, which is a fraction of the cost of the $3500 HoloLens 2.

The Nreal Light has two cameras for spatial tracking

The Nreal Light looks like a mix between the Amazon Echo Frames and the HTC Vive Flow, though, unlike the Echo Frames, it has two cameras for 6DoF spatial tracking, a photo/HD video RGB camera, an accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light sensor and proximity sensor. It also has dual speakers and dual microphones, one of each on each temple. There is a wire attached to the glasses with a USB-C connector to the other end that allows users to connect them to a compatible smartphone. Nreal says that the Light works with compatible 5G smartphones powered by Qualcomm. However, it has been reported that in the U.S., the mixed reality glasses will work with the Samsung Galaxy S21 5G series, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G, Galaxy S20 FE 5G UW, Galaxy S20 5G UW, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G, and the OnePlus 8 5G UW. Unfortunately, the device doesn't have a built-in battery which explains why it is just 106 grams in weight.

The glasses work with the phone, which also doubles as the controller, as is the case with the HTC Vive Flow. Owners can choose to mirror their phone's display and launch their apps which will be overlaid on the real world. For a full VR experience, Nreal includes a VR cover that can be attached to the Light to block out your environment. There is also a case for the glasses inside the box alongside a clip, nose pads, lens frame and a cleaning cloth.
