Making Money FAQs
Is it a paid feature to make posts/blog/website easier to find in search engines?
WordPress.com has search engine optimization (SEO) built-in, so even without a paid plan, as long as your site is published and public, it’ll appear in a Google search.
How can I make my blog or website easier to find in search engines?
WordPress.com blogs and websites are very search engine friendly by default. The best advice we can give you about getting listed in search engines is to write good content and descriptive titles for images.
When search engines view your site, they’re looking at all of the text on your site, and then they put you in the search engines based on the content (text/images) currently on your site. This means that whatever search terms you’d like to show up for, you’ll need to have matching content on your site (pages/blog posts/images). This will help the search engines see that is what your site is about.
Here are some great articles on SEO, which have some action items:
Can I select which Ads I want to appear in WordAds?
WordAds advertisements are served from our ad network and based on the browser history for that particular visitor, so you are unable to select which ads you’d like to appear on your site.
What plugin do you consider being the best for setting up an e-commerce store?
WooCommerce is the most popular eCommerce solution on WordPress. You can install it with the Business or eCommerce plans.
Do you have a Donation feature which gives the donor the choice to choose between donating one time or on a monthly basis?
Yes, the donation block allows for the donor to choose between a one-time, monthly, or yearly donation. Here is a detailed video guide on how to set that up.
How can I add Google AdSense to my site?
If you’d like to use the Google AdSense advertising network on your site it will require the Business plan. From there you can follow Google AdSense’s instructions.
Can I earn money without having a plan for my site?
To access the Payment features will require at minimum the Personal plan. In this document, you can learn more about the monetization features for your site and the plan requirements.
Is it possible to use the payments button for single item purchases rather than subscriptions?
The Payments feature can be used to create recurring revenue or one-time payments to your site. Here is a guide on how to set up that feature.
Can I add Amazon Affiliate products to my site?
Affiliate links are allowed on WordPress.com as long as the primary purpose of your blog is to create original content. Here is a guide on how to create links to Amazon Affiliate products.
Are Stripe and PayPal the only ways to receive payments?
If you have the Personal or Premium plan we have partnered with Stripe and Paypal to process your payments. If you’d prefer to use a different payment processor you can upgrade to the Business or eCommerce plan and using the WooCommerce plugin will give you access to several payment gateways.
Noteworthy Updates
As technology is constantly evolving, you may find there are some differences in the user interface shown in the demo recording compared to what you see in your site currently. If you have any troubles with these differences, please reach out to our support for assistance.
