New Logo, Font and Website Design

In the run-up to the company’s birthday, we’ve reimagined our signature style by updating the desktop version of the website, changing our logo and introducing our own unique font.

Design: same across all devices

A change that all will see — the newly updated design of vk.com. The icons are brighter and clearer, and the website header was changed from blue to white.

Does it seem like you’ve seen this before? That’s because you have — in the mobile version of the website and the VK mobile app. We’re making it so the VK design looks similar across all devices and that bulky elements don’t distract you from chatting with friends and enjoying content.

The new VK desktop design will be gradually rolled out for everyone. If you want to try it out now, you can become a volunteer by being one of the first 100,000 people to enable the updated design in your vk.com profile settings.

Logo: new color and font

In the new vk.com design, you’ll find the new VK logo. The icon you’re all familiar with is still there but is now a brighter blue. You’ll start finding saturated colors in VK projects more often.

In addition to that, the word “VKontakte” written in Cyrillic is now part of the VK logo. No, it’s not nostalgia. It’s just that now, any of our services or products can add the name of the social network to their logo. That way, you’ll be able to instantly tell that the project is related to VK and can be trusted.

VK Food, VK Taxi and VK Jobs have already started using this new system. Soon, other products will also switch to this visual language.

Signature VK font

Did you notice that the word “VKontakte” in the logo isn’t written like it used to be? That’s because it’s written in VK Sans — VK’s signature font, which was created by our designers and the TypeType studio. It’s expressive, easy to read and comes across neutrally in texts of varying styles and tones.

The new font and Cyrillic “VKontakte” makes a visual connection between the logos of all of our products and projects. Each of them is now able to highlight their individuality by choosing a color and an icon, but at the same time, you’ll be able to recognize it as a VK service.
