International Day to End Impunity
For this year’s International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists (IDEI), IFEX is focusing on illegal surveillance as a tactic that threatens journalists’ safety, and drawing attention to how impunity creates the conditions under which it continues to thrive.
Year-round, IFEX members work to bring the perpetrators of attacks on journalists and rights defenders to justice, and to establish conditions that will make it harder for them to commit such crimes in the first place.
As IFEX Executive Director Annie Game writes in her op-ed marking IDEI, ending impunity for illegal surveillance is a critically important part of this work.
