After updating this plugin, I received the following errors that caused our site to be unavailable.

PHP Warning: include_once(): Failed opening ‘/wp-content/plugins/yet-another-related-posts-plugin/classes/YARPP_DB_Schema.php’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/share/pear:/usr/share/php’) in /wp-content/plugins/yet-another-related-posts-plugin/yarpp.php on line 73

PHP Fatal error: Class ‘YARPP_DB_Schema’ not found in /wp-content/plugins/yet-another-related-posts-plugin/classes/YARPP_Core.php on line 47

I am unable to locate the YARPP_DB_Schema.php package after update.

Thank you for your prompt response and attention.

I get the same fatal error. My site is down. I have to deactivate YARPP for now.

Ok, 5.1.8 released which adds the missing file. We’ve double-checked there were no other missing files. So you can update to that version and the issue will be resolved.

    Phew!

An FYI the problem was that when we made the release, WordPress.org basically needed us to point out there was a new file. It’s quite a long time since we added a new file to YARPP so we forgot to do that.😢

But we’re going to double-check versions and automate the release system to avoid this type of human error.

We’re really sorry about the unnecessary stress and lost time this caused you @chrisb71 @kossors and I’m sure 10x more people who haven’t yet chimed in. We’ll try to make it up to you.

Please let us know if you notice any further issues.

Works fine now. Grateful for the prompt action.

Thank you again for getting this resolved so quickly

You updated YARPP on our site (SCVNews.com) today at 9:08am and the site hard-crashed and we can’t recover it. Now my staff can’t work. We are the news outlet for north Los Angeles County. What do we do???

@scvleon We again sincerely apologize. This has to be incredibly frustrating…

If you have FTP access, deleting or renaming the following directory will force disable YARPP and bring your site back up:

    /wp-content/plugins/yet-another-related-posts-plugin

    Instructions:
    https://kinsta.com/blog/uninstall-wordpress-plugin/#uninstall-wordpress-plugin-ftp

Alternatively, if you manually update the files in that directory with v5.1.8, that will also fix the issue with the missing file:

    https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/yet-another-related-posts-plugin.5.1.8.zip

    The missing file is:

    /wp-content/plugins/yet-another-related-posts-plugin/classes/YARPP_DB_Schema.php

Deleted & the site is back, thank you!!! Now will YARPP install a clean version automatically or do I need to do something?

@scvleon You’re very welcome. (although I wish we weren’t in this spot!!)

If you’ve deleted the directory, you’ll need to reinstall the plugin. It shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes to do.

    In your WordPress Admin Dashboard:

    1. Go to Plugins -> Add New -> Search for YARPP
    2. Press “Install Now” for the YARPP plugin
    3. Press “Activate Plugin”

    got it, thank you again!

🙏🏼🙏🏼 Please let us know if we can be of further help.

As Mike mentioned above, we’re putting into place systems to prevent this from happening again.
