The Academy is the center of excellence for intellectual property (IP) education, training and skills-building for WIPO member states, in particular developing countries, least-developed countries (LDCs) and countries in transition. The Academy works to help build human capacity in IP, which is essential to innovation and creativity.

Empowering women through IP education
Our four programs cover a rich portfolio of both general and specialized courses on IP, and cater to different target audiences:
Courses combine face-to-face and distance learning methodologies, and are taught by IP experts. Our Course catalogue outlines the content of each course.
Each of the Academy’s training courses can have specific application procedures, all of which are outlined in our eLearning Center online course catalogue as well as in our PDF course catalogue 
Our online training is delivered through a modern eLearning platform called the WIPO eLearning Center.
Specialized IP training for government and public sector officials.
Joint Master's degrees in IP, offered in partnership with a number of prestigious universities around the world, and support for IP teaching and research.
Online and hybrid IP courses at introductory, advanced and executive levels in up to ten languages.
As a key tool for development, the Academy has close links with the Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP), and has completed a number of CDIP projects, which are now mainstreamed into its activities and are aimed at further supporting IP capacity building. The Academy also runs other projects such as the IP4Youth&Teachers service under the distance learning program.
Cooperating with judicial institutions to enable them to provide training in the area of IP.
Assisting member states to establish their own IP training capacity through national IP training institutions.
A service to kick-start teachers and learners on their path to creativity and IP education in primary and secondary schools.
Since its establishment in 1998, the WIPO Academy has continuously built a large community of partners, alumni, IP experts and other lecturers who have contributed to its ongoing success.
