About Stack Overflow Enterprise

Stack Exchange, Inc. (“Stack Overflow”, “we” or “us”) takes the privacy of a Stack Overflow Enterprise (“Enterprise”) customer (“Customer”) seriously, as well as the privacy of our Customer’s users (collectively, “you”). This Privacy Notice explains who we are and how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use Enterprise.

About Stack Overflow Enterprise Slack Integration

Stack Overflow has developed an integration with Slack that you can take advantage of by creating a Slack app that integrates functionality from Enterprise with Slack. It facilitates collaboration across the platforms.

Through the Integration, you can:

  1. Search Enterprise from Slack: Search Enterprise using the /stack command with the “search” argument or through Slack message actions.
  2. Ask questions on Enterprise from Slack: Ask questions from Slack through Slack message actions.
  3. Receive Slack messages from Enterprise: Setup webhooks that provide notifications through Slack as messages to a particular Slack destination based on specific criteria.

When you choose to set up or use the Integration, it will be necessary for us to collect some information about you for our own purposes as controller. This Privacy Notice describes this information and what we use it for. In all other circumstances, Stack Overflow acts as processor, acting on our Customer’s behalf and instructions in relation to personal information held within Enterprise.

We collect:

  • Your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, information about how and when you use Enterprise and other technical information. This information is needed to maintain the security and operation of Enterprise. This information helps us identify attacks by malicious users and we don’t use your information for any other purpose.

More information about how we use personal information and your rights can be found in our Enterprise Privacy Policy. Our Customer ultimately controls their Enterprise instance. Each Customer controls their own Enterprise instance and acts as controller in relation to personal information held within it. Please contact your organisation or the Customer through whom you accessed the integration for more information on the collection and use of your information and your rights.
