In the beginning, the internet relied solely on IP addresses to identify web pages, which worked at the time because there were relatively few websites and they were not accessible to a wide audience. What is a domain name?
Used as the starting point for all webpages, a domain name often corresponds to the name of the company or brand which owns the site. It takes the form of ‘example.com,’ ‘example.fr,’ etc. While there are no restrictions as to the name itself, this is the most commonly seen approach.
