Students' Union

Independent of the University and led by a team of Sabbatical Officers, who are elected by students to take a year out from Uni to run the Union, we’re here to make sure that your time at Northumbria is the best it can be. Our mission is ‘To have a positive impact on the lives of all our students’.

You can find us at City Campus, Coach Lane, Amsterdam and London Campus, working hard to make sure you’ve got everything you need, whether that’s an affordable drink at one of our award-winning bars, joining one of 100+ societies, or some advice about your course from our free advice service.

Get Involved

University is a great time to try new things, meet new people and have some FUN; at NSU we combine all of these things with opportunities to make your CV outstanding.

From Volunteering with one of many projects, fundraising for local charities with Raise and Give (RAG), joining one of our 100+ Societies, or even setting up your own. There is guaranteed to be something for you.

Get Support

Life at university can be a bit of a whirlwind and sometimes you may find your studies difficult or feel that complications in your personal life impact on your education.

Whatever the challenge you face – on or off campus - NSU’s highly trained, experienced and friendly staff is here to support you.

Representation

We believe in representing the views of every student to the University, the local community and beyond. We support student representatives from programmes, departments and from different socio-cultural backgrounds.

We campaign to make positive change on your behalf. If you have an issue affecting any part of your student life at Northumbria – Speak Up and we’ll make sure your voice is heard.

Fancy being the voice of NSU? Sabbatical Officer Elections take place every year – campaign to be the change you want to see and lead your fellow students.

Be Social

Here at NSU, we know how important it is to blow off steam after a busy day at uni, so we’re here to make sure that you can play as hard as you work.

Our award-winning bars and venues have everything you need to get that much deserved R&R -from everyday good value on food and drinks to quality entertainment, from live music to big screen sports in Habita. What’s more, the money you spend in our commercial outlets is put back into YOUR Union to make sure your student experience is the best it can be.
