Because of issues around the life rights of Joan Rivers, a limited series in which Kathryn Hahn would have played the legendary comedian isn’t moving forward.

The project, called “The Comeback Girl,” was announced last month in Variety. It had been in development at Showtime, and was to be produced by Warner Bros. Television, Atlas Entertainment and Berlanti Productions. Hahn was attached as its star and executive producer, and Greg Berlanti was going to direct and executive produce the series, which was based on a spec script by Cosmo Carlson.

ABC announced that “The Wonder Years” and “Home Economics” have both received nine-episode back orders to round out their current seasons.

“The Wonder Years,” a reboot of the 1988 ABC sitcom of the same name, had its series premiere on Sept. 22 with new episodes airing weekly on Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. The coming-of-age comedy, this time centered on a Black family, follows the middle class Williams family through late ‘60s Montgomery, Alabama via the perspective of 12-year-old Dean. HBO announced Tuesday that it has renewed “Succession” for a fourth season — not that there was any doubt of that, but it’s nice to know it’s official.

The ratings for the show, which was created by Jesse Armstrong, have soared since the Season 3 premiere on Oct. 17. The first episode of Season 3 drew a series-high viewership of 1.4 million viewers across HBO’s platforms that night. According to the network, that was the best premiere-night ratings of any HBO series since HBO Max launched in May 2020.

Dave Chappelle has spoken out about the controversy over his Netflix special “The Closer” in a new stand-up video, saying that he is willing to meet with transgender Netflix employees or other members of the trans community, but won’t bend “to anybody’s demands.”

Brendan Fraser is headed to Gotham City. The actor will play the villain in Batgirl, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. He is playing the pyro-themed Batman villain Firefly, according to sources.

Batgirl stars Leslie Grace as the superhero, with Bad Boys for Life filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah directing from a script by Birds of Prey screenwriter Christina Hodson. Allen Media sees HBCUGo.TV as a complement to The Grio, the digital media site that it acquired in 2016. Allen Media just launched a Grio-branded free over-the-air channel as well. HBCUGo.TV comes with 5,000 hours of programming geared toward students and alumni of the nation’s more than 100 HBCUs. One of Hallmark Channel‘s go-to actresses has set her sights on a new basic cable home.

Danica McKellar, who has headlined more than a half-dozen “Countdown to Christmas” movies for Hallmark since 2015, is departing the network for a new competitor: Gac Family (fka Great American Country). Per Deadline, the Wonder Years vet has signed an exclusive deal with the cabler to star in and executive-produce four new films, beginning with The Winter Palace (premiering in January 2022).

The Val Zod series that Michael B. Jordan is set to executive produce for HBO Max has found its writers, Variety has confirmed.

Darnell Metayer and Josh Peters are now set to write the project, which will focus on Val Zod, the second DC character to take up the mantle of Superman. Val is a Black Kryptonian who found his way to Earth and eventually uses his powers to fight evil, including a brainwashed Superman at one point in the comics.

HBO Max declined to comment.
