What we're about

Endometriosis is one of the most puzzling diseases affecting women and girls assigned at birth. More is being learned about it as time goes on. This is a support group online and eventually in-person whose desires are empowerment, education, exchange of information, and mutual support for those affected by endometriosis. All are welcome. I started this group to say "YOU ARE NOT ALONE"! Looking forward to exploring the myths and misunderstandings with everyone.

AN EVENING OF MINDFUL MOVEMENT & DANCE -SO LET GO IN A EVEN FLOW WITH ENDO

Chronic pelvic pain is difficult to treat and one of the most prevalent symptoms related to endometriosis, moreover, it may lead to other symptoms such as anxiety and stress that may contribute to the decrease of quality of life.
Dancing, a special form of movement and physical exercise, has been shown to be beneficial. However, no data have been published on the effect of dancing as therapy for women who suffer endometriosis-related pelvic pain. Dancing may contribute to diminish endometriosis-related chronic physical pain and mental health issues like anxiety and stress. This evening please join me in welcoming Ms. Whitney Pyles where she will conduct a participatory dance/movement for us.

Whitney Dawn Pyles has been teaching movement classes and workshops since 2005 - first in Miami, then Atlanta, and now Grand Rapids and nationally via the power of the internet! She is interested in what movement and dance can bring to the body, the mind, and the soul and how they can be used to build connections and community. She is also a Life Coach, focusing on helping women to move away from that which is no longer serving them and towards growth, authenticity, and empowerment.

Mindful Movement is a progressive movement class that begins with mediation to quiet the mind then moves to slowly stretch and gentle yoga flow, and finally into intuitive and guided dance. This class is built with inclusivity in mind and is appropriate for all levels of experience. Our theme for this class, in particular, will be “The Journey” and we will be exploring release, the reclaiming of joy, and self-love. Our Journey will be a special time due to Whitney's mindful movement class

LET'S BELLY DANCE OUR WAY OUT OF ENDOMETRIOSIS

Online event

For most people, hitting a dance fitness class to get into shape can be daunting – but take my word for it, it’s not as scary as you think!

I absolutely LOVE showing people that they CAN do it and that they are FABULOUS doing it - and the best way to do that, is with SharQui. Why? Because SharQui provides double-duty! It's the perfect marriage of authentic Bellydance and fitness. SharQui has been tested and taught to pro instructors and fitness enthusiasts – and it works.

Another reason is that SharQui makes you feel beautiful while having fun! I’m not sure about you, but I refuse to get off the couch unless I know my workout is going to be fun. Life is too short.

A few factoids about me (OREET SCHWARTZ):

I’m a native New Yorker who now resides in Philly, have over 20 years of experience in fitness and dance, and grew up with Yemeni folk and Oriental dance. SharQui was born in 1998 and it’s still going strong and has been featured on NBC, ABC, CBS, and CNN, among other outlets. I hold the titles Bellydancer of the Year, and Middle Eastern Dance Champion of North America, to name a few. My new passion is educating the world about Jewish Middle Eastern and North African dance and its relevance in Arabic Culture.

JOIN US [OREET AND I] AND LET's BELLY DANCE OUR WAY OUT OF ENDOMETRIOSIS!!!
