AXE

I subscribe creativity-online.com, and I always find some cool ads from all over the world.

And I found this:

AXE is a deodorant body spray for men. Its marketing strategy has been focusing on the sexiness for years. I remember a funny commercial of AXE…that was years ago, but there was a guy put AXE on his body and when he walked in a grocery store, a girl who was shopping in the store started sexy dance saying “chukuchukuwowwow” (or something like that…I can’t spell). That was funny and pop commercial.

The one I found is based on the same message, but the execution is more sophisticated rather than funny. It starts like a beginning of a drama, so I just kept watching it to see what would happen to those two people in the end. I’m pretty sure that if you watch the beginning of this commercial on TV, you will watch it till the end as I did. And that means, this commercial is pretty successful.

I’m not in the products’ target audience, so I don’t know this commercial makes them buy the product…guys, what do you think?

Well, then I remembered another commercial for AXE. It was on the air in Japan. In the commercial, a guy sprays AXE on a coin, and throw it in a pond. Then, a girl rushes to and jumps into the pond to get the coin. That was very funny too. I was shocked because I didn’t expect AXE would bring the same marketing strategy to Japanese market because we Japanese are more shy so I thought the exageration of the sexiness would not work in Japan.

I wanted to watch the Japanese commercial again, so I googled “AXE CM” and I ran into this website.

I just love this website! The sound is very nice and graphic is cool! And it’s SEXY! This is not like what I’ve seen in Japanese website…oh I love the sound!!

Better Together

This is a TV commercial for Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive. It was done by Saatch&Saatch Australia.

“Better Together” is common concept for selling consumer goods, but how they executed the concept is very creative. It “wows” viewers and it is very memorable. And it makes you tell your friends “hey, have you seen the commercial that two guys acting together like a four armed person?”, or post it on your blog just as I’m doing. Then more and more people watch the commercial. I assume it is on TV only in Australia because it was done by Saatch&Saatch Australia, but now it is on youtube and everyone who has access to Internet can watch it.

Now I want to ask…do you remember who the commercial was done for?

I’m sure you remember what was going on in the commercial, do you remember what was the commercial for?

It says “Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive” at the top of video so you can easily cheat, but I was wonderign how many people remember the commercial is for Toyota. The creativity is important, but it is also important to show what was the commercial for because it is a “commercial” not just an entertainment.

Now I’m working on the assignment for my graphic design class. The assignment is creating a futuristic typeface. I’ve been brainstorming for a few days but didn’t come up with good design.

And I woke up this morning, checked e-mail, ate a cake which my friends gave me for my birthday, and watched Gary Go video on youtube. (again!) I spent a nice, relaxying Saturday morning.

I went to MIKA’s concert in Chicago on my birthday, Oct 20…and I fell in love with two guys at the same time.

I loved MIKA of course, and I loved Gary Go too who sung at the concert as an opener. I’m still excited and cannot concentrate on studying.
